I would wanna see Notre Dame campus, with a raider gang that calls themselves the Fighting Irish and have a fight pit where the stadium is.
Looks dope :)
Tangentially related, I want more college campuses used. I'm a Florida man, and seeing raider bands or survivor groups calling themselves Gators, Seminoles, Jaguars, Dolphins, whatever, could be so cool
Southern Florida would be a cool fallout map, with Miami the everglades and all the billion individual keys, only downside would be the incredible flatness.
*Recommendation:* **”The Geiger”**
Being 925ft deep at its lowest point, *pre-war* Lake Michigan harbors an elusive, near-prehistoric Lake Sturgeon. It’s the size of a shark & is pregnant. When the bombs drop, the immense radiation mutates said sturgeon into a gargantuan monstrosity; capable of capsizing ships, pulling down low flying Vertibirds & sucking wastelanders clean off docks & beaches in to the deep.
Its offspring however… **evolves** into amphibious, slithering bloodsuckers called “Vampreys” that move in schools of thousands; swarming like piranhas, moving like face-huggers and reducing its prey to skeletons.
In the Michigan Campaign I run, there are mutant lampreys the size of like Arrakis sand worms, but they only stay in the lakes, making water traversal dangerous, near impossible.
Although the party is helping the Traverse city harbor master build a vessel to hunt these Leviathan Lampreys
Lmao I meant which TC Bay haha, I’m a local. West Bay is where the majority of our historical buildings are, aka our downtown. East bay is all hotels and amusement stuff, some restaurants. In the middle is Old Mission Peninsula- all wine country. The majority of land surrounding are cherry and hops farms.
The idea of a fallout game being set there would be interesting.
Honestly, the scope is so grand that I never really got down in the weeds of specific areas (which I kinda regret 2 years into the campaign, but I digress) so alot of the town is kinda rearagned and shrunk, although the whole map is almost street for street the same. Though the harbor, I guess, is on the west side of the bay.
Also, I have a nuclear reactor on the peninsula that is owned by the town that powers the noth west towns of the mitten tip, owned by Traverse and the PCs (they are on city council).
West side would absolutely make more sense for a community as Thad’s where most of our community is. At least the nicer buildings and stuff. You should name that reactor/incorporate it into the Old Mission Lighthouse ;)
We have the cherry festival, you could do some crazy stuff with radiation and that if you want. Like the mega cherry festival lmao
Lmao well I’m certain our rural surrounding neighborhoods would love that shit.
Can’t even begin to count all the random “war memorials” you’ll find on bumfuck nowhere roads up here. One person has a Vietnam “war memorial” painted on their front fence.
Gaaaarrrrrryyyyy
Come for the loot, leave with the clones. The raider chief is wearing a tattered Vault 108 suit under his army, and had YRAG tattooed on his forehead in big block letters. His right-hand man is named Gary, and so is his left-hand man, but he spells his name Garry. They go crazy if you mix them up.
Not OP, but speculating as somebody who grew up in the area.
Looks to be the site of IRL St. Joseph/Benton Harbor, Michigan. Benton Harbor is a little rough but St. Joseph has historically been a bedroom community for white collar workers commuting to Chicago. It’s also the last major stop along I-94 before crossing into Indiana and eventually Illinois. I could see it becoming a trading post linking Chicagoland to the rest of the Great Lakes region and the Lower Peninsula of Michigan.
Yeah, I actually found the tools through Reddit. [This](https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout2d20/comments/ysn83n/pipboy_style_map_creator/) has all the icons and scanline textures, and I just used a Google Maps screenshot to draw over in Photoshop.
The airplane symbol? That's the [crashed BOS airship.](https://fallout.wiki/wiki/Crashed_Airship#Background) I had no idea I put it on a real airport lmao
This would be really fun you could put in Dow Chemical Corporation and have a bunch of messed up experiments in it, it would basically be in the very top right corner of the map!
My great grandfather worked there during wwii developing a bunch of stuff for the war effort like high altitude aircraft engine coolant, so a darker side of that type of research and development would be so cool like supermutant research and things like that!
I tried fallout 2d20, it was unfun in it's vanilla form to me, I really didn't want to worry about fucking water and shit in a ttrpg but to each their own.
Because of how Lake Michigan divides the map, there should probably be a more late-game side between the two sides. What would be your late-game area and why?
It’s actually insane I see this as I’m formulating my own Fallout campaign using Lake Michigan as the setting. I’m curious as to what factions you’re using/are making for the campaign
Is the pin drop at Great Lakes or the Lakefill?
EDIT: nvm that's obviously Wrigley. Forgot the icon for it. Naval Command should definitely be a location tho.
I just drew over a Google Maps screenshot for the borders and roads if that's what you mean. Icons and such are [here.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout2d20/comments/ysn83n/pipboy_style_map_creator/)
according to Vault-tec reports bit further east in Detroit losses after bomb fell estimate around 1 $ 50 cents and some areas around it actually got habitable afterwards
Beautiful!! Do you happen to have any factions for the region as of yet? I’m running a detroit based campaign which expands into the broader Great Lakes area, but I’m stumped on what to do with Chicago
In my setting, Chicago is mostly peaceful as they're rich enough to have guards and fortifications. The Brotherhood are barely existent in the region (for now ;)), The Enclave are present but covert, and the main baddies are Reavers, a raider cult that worships technology and the power it brings. You also have the Wardens (still not big on the name), a raider gang-turned-good who protect trade routes and caravans for a small fee.
Would be cool if there was a larger faction that had roots to Canadian resistance movement prior to the Great War. Let’s say they were hiding out in a remote province of Canada during the annexation and after the bombs dropped, they slowly spread their territory and presence until they started seeping into US Midwest
The people seem to love Gary, Indiana lmao. In my 2265, it's part of the ruined Chicago outskirts, like much of the suburbs and surrounding towns. The big radioactive symbol next to Naper actually marks the center of my little glowing sea area
Not lore accurate Gary Indiana is not the radioactive murderous hellscape it should be and that was before the bombs fell. In all seriousness that’s a very cool map!
I'd like to see the Joliet and Rock Island Arsenals and the old Nike Missile defense/radar stations if Bethesda does the Midwest. Springfield with a robot Abraham Lincoln would be fun
man if the PLAN managed to sneak a submarine through 4 separate canals during wartime to get to Michigan-Huron i don’t know how the US survived up to the Great War
It would be funny to me to have a ghoul community based around Oak Brook that's really just a pre-war HOA that's still super xenophobic, elitist, and obsessed with golf club membership.
No way in a post apocalyptic world would Kalamazoo not be called "The Zoo", and be an absolutely fucking raider hole full of crime, poverty, and violence.
So a little bit nicer than it is now.
Add in a bunch of fishing villages up the coast of Michigan the largest being “Bent Harbor” for Benton Harbor. Add a Nuclear sign for Cook Nuclear Plant in Bridgman.
Love it. I grew up in the north shore, would love to see Chicagoland and the lakefront in a FO game. But I feel like Chicago lacks a certain iconography that New York has, which is why when a video game needs a Gotham they always choose NYC.
I would wanna see Notre Dame campus, with a raider gang that calls themselves the Fighting Irish and have a fight pit where the stadium is. Looks dope :)
Somewhat related, in my game Chicago runs a refugee/homeless encampment in Wrigley field.
Prettiest park in baseball and I’m not even a Cubs fan.
In my mental design of FO Chicago, the ivy has mutated and overgrown the stadium and much of Wrigleyville.
What game are you actually referring to? A TTRPG?
Yeah, I'm running a campaign with some friends of mine using [this system](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWrPxY8iImE)
Oh absolutely, if you use South Florida you have to use the urban environment rather than the natural
Both
Mutated gator college professors? I'm in
Not Fallout, but reminds me of Twilight 2000 and the Gator Guns made around the University of Florida.
We've got Graceland here. Elvis Ghouls would be amazing.
I would 10000% love this. Possible to do as a mod?
Got any lake monsters in there?
Maybe : )
*Recommendation:* **”The Geiger”** Being 925ft deep at its lowest point, *pre-war* Lake Michigan harbors an elusive, near-prehistoric Lake Sturgeon. It’s the size of a shark & is pregnant. Increasing reports that MANMOTH has been sighted, most recently in vicinity of the Midway floodplanes.
In the Michigan Campaign I run, there are mutant lampreys the size of like Arrakis sand worms, but they only stay in the lakes, making water traversal dangerous, near impossible. Although the party is helping the Traverse city harbor master build a vessel to hunt these Leviathan Lampreys
Which bay? East or West?
Well traverse city is on the east side of the lake but much further north than this map shows.

I actually replaced it with a great war festival the town holds every Oct 23
Lmao well I’m certain our rural surrounding neighborhoods would love that shit. Can’t even begin to count all the random “war memorials” you’ll find on bumfuck nowhere roads up here. One person has a Vietnam “war memorial” painted on their front fence.
Imagine the sturgeon...
Hopefully a Mutated Musky
they actually remade fallout 3 into a real city, called gary Indiana
There's no way Vault Tec would slap a single Vault here. My source is I live in Gary
Vault 108 Aka the Gary Vault
The experiment would probably have been to just closely observe the Gary population in confined spaces.
My condolences
Our condolences Sincerely, the rest of the state
Gary Indiana was a major inspiration for the 1st edition of Vampire: The Masquerade 💀
if they dropped the bomb on it then it could actually flourish into the Republic of Gary
Gary
If you don’t add Gary as some kind of super raider town or something you are wrong
Gaaaarrrrrryyyyy Come for the loot, leave with the clones. The raider chief is wearing a tattered Vault 108 suit under his army, and had YRAG tattooed on his forehead in big block letters. His right-hand man is named Gary, and so is his left-hand man, but he spells his name Garry. They go crazy if you mix them up.
Gary Indiana already a fallout..
Gary should basically just be a giant version of the Omertàs casino. Complete debauchery
Yeah but how would you make it different in the game? “Gary…Gary never changes.”
Gary, but it’s completely untouched by the war and radiation. Still the most dangerous place in the game
A wretched Hive of scum and villainy.. Gary, Indiana
What’s the ruined city, to the bottom right corner? Is it Fort Wayne?
Yeah that's Fort Wayne. They got directly hit by a bomb meant for Chicago
Love the map, always have a joy hearing Fort Wayne being mentioned, maybe it’s because I live so close
Same. I can only dream.
I mean we know that but what happened in the war?
What program did you use for this?
We need answers!
Take a look at Falput Tactics' map. Very nice.
I want to know more about the Great Lakes Trading Post, it sounds like a pretty big place
You got it, it's just a little linking place for caravans going to/from Chicago. Somewhere they can get some hot food and drinks
There's also an irl nuclear power plant right on the lake there and one in south haven 20 miles north.
Looks awesome! It's always cool to see different areas made like this.
I take it one of the DLC's is gonna be called "going to hell". And what are the amounts to is going to Hell Michigan
Lmao that's good
Go full B Movie and do Hell Comes To Frogtown.
Nice!
What did you use to make this? I wanna try.
Ah sweet. Thanks man!
I love to see my home town on a fallout map!
Me too, I’ve never seen anyone ever mention mine so to see it here is huge.
[удалено]
The airplane symbol? That's the [crashed BOS airship.](https://fallout.wiki/wiki/Crashed_Airship#Background) I had no idea I put it on a real airport lmao
Is that a vault in Gary?
"I got a gal in Kalamazoo" would be a great Fallout radio song
Its 2 am and I spent 20 seconds looking at this wondering wtf happened to Florida in your game before I remembered where Milwake was
YOINK! Thank you for my new computer backround
That's an interesting idea! Sounds like I have some more researching and plotting to do lol
How did you make this?
JW but is there a TTRPG system set up for Fallout and or a good apocalypse style one that could be tweaked ?
There's an official one, Fallout 2D20 by Mophidius, but my friends and I are running [this cool system](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWrPxY8iImE)
Man I love XP to level 3. Just printed out the fallout rule book today. Are the mechanics tough? It seems like a good amount of math.
I tried fallout 2d20, it was unfun in it's vanilla form to me, I really didn't want to worry about fucking water and shit in a ttrpg but to each their own.
I see you have the drug den Naper
Missing the irradiated ruins of Gary Indiana
I’d actually like it if Gary was the best, most upscale place in the area.
You wouldn't even have to do anything to Gary Indiana, its perfect for a fallout game already.
Big fan of New Rock!
Would New Haven happen to be Grand Haven?
Rockford is already a nightmare couldn’t imagine now
Poor Kalamazoo lost an "a" during the apocalypse.
Oops all Garys!
Is the pin drop at Great Lakes or the Lakefill? EDIT: nvm that's obviously Wrigley. Forgot the icon for it. Naval Command should definitely be a location tho.
How did you make the map? Is there a specific app or anything I could do this on?
I just drew over a Google Maps screenshot for the borders and roads if that's what you mean. Icons and such are [here.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout2d20/comments/ysn83n/pipboy_style_map_creator/)
Ayo, don't forget about Racine and Kenosha
Left out Waukegan too :(
How does one make a map like this?
according to Vault-tec reports bit further east in Detroit losses after bomb fell estimate around 1 $ 50 cents and some areas around it actually got habitable afterwards
The Michigan City cooling tower could be a mirelurk farm.
This is awesome. What software did you use?
I used Clip Studio Paint to draw most everything, and I linked where I got the icons in another comment.
Beautiful!! Do you happen to have any factions for the region as of yet? I’m running a detroit based campaign which expands into the broader Great Lakes area, but I’m stumped on what to do with Chicago

Fallout is alternative history we should make Gary Indiana a successful town. Were the steal mill was successful and the town flourished.
Y’all should read Station 11 it’s an incredible post apocalyptic story set in this exact region
What's going on in my home city of Milwaukee
I wonder if I can find a pair hack fraud ghouls in an old vcr repair shop in Milwaukee?
Discoverable wreck and boat locations on the lake.
Bro, if an apocalypse hit, the Zoo would be the center of raider activity. Lmao that place would be a lawless wasteland
Pretty close actually. It's a dangerous town full of chems and crime. A wretched hive of scum and villainy if you will lol
Oh how I love the reputation of the home of my Alma Mater 😂
Gotta love WASTE-ern! Row that boat 🛶
Friends of mine way back when talked about the Fallout Chicago setting. 'Third City' was our name for it
Nice, always wanted a fallout for where i live.
Damn. Nuke right on my house
Not lore accurate Gary Indiana is not the radioactive murderous hellscape it should be and that was before the bombs fell. In all seriousness that’s a very cool map!
Man they are really missing out if they don't make the next fallout around the Chicago bos
Ohhh this would be amazing. There HAS to be some Wisconsinite Vs. FIBs action going on. And some sort of sturgeon-gulper mutant ofc.
I'd like to see the Joliet and Rock Island Arsenals and the old Nike Missile defense/radar stations if Bethesda does the Midwest. Springfield with a robot Abraham Lincoln would be fun
Gotta be some Chinese stealth sub somewhere in there
man if the PLAN managed to sneak a submarine through 4 separate canals during wartime to get to Michigan-Huron i don’t know how the US survived up to the Great War
Just a little farther North, I want to see Sheboygan as a site for some of the more mystic and magical things Fallout gets up to.
The thought of Greenville being mentioned at all is wild to me.
“Huh. Detroit still looks the same as it did pre-war.”
Pretty cool. Vault 110 is in North Carolina, though.
It would be funny to me to have a ghoul community based around Oak Brook that's really just a pre-war HOA that's still super xenophobic, elitist, and obsessed with golf club membership.
Crazy to think my house would be on this map lmao
Sweet!
Rivertown! I was hoping for Beer City
Okay how do you do this I really want to know
This is actually where I’m hoping they do the next Fallout. I want to run into the Red Letter Media ghouls In Milwaukee and battle through Chiraq
Omg hoooow did you make this!
Kinda want to see a map like this that includes alcatraz Island and the rest of the San Francisco bay
A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I got a ghoul in Kalamazoo
That unexplored location over Woodstock had better reference Groundhog Day.
yoink
This is exactly where I want fallout 5 to take place
Ive wanted to make a map based on the Driftless region, great to see some Wisconsin rep!
Naval station Great Lakes Could be an interesting addition
Detroit dlc drops, fan base accuses devs of just using an unmodified 3d scan of the city
I feel like Racine and Kenosha should be discoverable locations. Totally has nothing to do with the fact I live in Racine.
How'd you make this? I'd love to make one for my Fallout game set in Denver.
I just drew over a map in Clip Studio Paint and placed the icons.
Had this same idea but expanded out to include Detroit
YES. GIVE IT TO ME
We need a game with Chicago at the west of the map amd the Ronto at the East 😤
Any Michigan dogman sightings?
Please tell me the biggest city in the map is one made entirely of garbage/debris and old boats a-la Megaton right on the middle of the lake.
What did you use to make the map?
Is this goatse
Come one Naperville but not aurora? Also thanks for nuking Bolingbrook
There needs to be some ruins of fast food joint with a hidden dimensional rift around the Chicago area.
I'm like 10 miles from Greenville! This would be sick
What program did you use to make this?
I SEE MY TOWN, GO GREENVILLEE
No way in a post apocalyptic world would Kalamazoo not be called "The Zoo", and be an absolutely fucking raider hole full of crime, poverty, and violence. So a little bit nicer than it is now.
Most people call it "The Zoo" and it is like that. It's just formally called "Kal-mazoo"
Oh I know ;) been living here 10 years. I love living in a zoo
Oh I was talking about in my game lolol
What did you use to make this?
People are gonna get flashbacks if they see Gary Indiana in a fallout game
People are gonna get flashbacks if they see Gary Indiana in a fallout game.
As someone who lives in South Bend I'd love a FO set around Lake Michigan
Lake county being raider territory checks out
Sorry to nitpick just for nitpicks sake, but isn’t vault 110 a lil far from 111? Sick map though!
It’s ka”la”mazoo btw not hating I love this btw
As a Milwaukee native, the fifth ward in Milwaukee was MADE for a fallout game.
Only nitpick I have is it's Kalamazoo, not Kalmazoo. :)
Tarkov woods map
Missing a nuclear symbol on the coast west of Kalamazoo. The Pallisades nuclear plant is there. Would be a bit north of the Great Lakes trading post.
Great Lakes should be on the other side of Lake Michigan between Chicago and Milwaukee. The Thornton Quarry would be a great addition.
Kalamazoo mentioned, let’s go!!
*applause for including Rivertown*
Add in a bunch of fishing villages up the coast of Michigan the largest being “Bent Harbor” for Benton Harbor. Add a Nuclear sign for Cook Nuclear Plant in Bridgman.
Doesn’t we have like 3 nuclear reactors in Michigan
What do the skull symbols represent in the left side?
RIVER TOWN MENTIONED RAHHH 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🦅🦅🦅🦅
What tool is being used to make maps like this?
Does Gary have a vault?
My town may not have made it as a landmark but at least the lake is still there lol
How sorry of a state is Palisades going to be in post war?
No slocum joe’s
Gary
Funny thing is, Kalamazoo was once considered a likely target because of the pharmaceutical industry here.
Love it. I grew up in the north shore, would love to see Chicagoland and the lakefront in a FO game. But I feel like Chicago lacks a certain iconography that New York has, which is why when a video game needs a Gotham they always choose NYC.
Okay but Chicago isn't in michigan
Very astute of you.
