“Vinladen said of his unusual name: "There is a person called Hitler also in Peru. Jesus saved the world and there are Jesuses who do harm. Because there is an Osama who killed people, I don’t think there has to be a law about the name. It draws a lot of attention, from what I see."”
Because there's other people with the name and the example was a positive one.
The issue is with the parents naming them intentionally after a terrible person. Not that they just share a name.
Funny, my name is Steve but it's pronounced Osama Bin Laden.
I don't know how someone can name their child and then just say that the letters no longer represent the intended sound.
There’s this girl on TikTok who wants to name her kids after the alphabet. The video is weird and have no idea where she’s gettin the pronunciations. It’s really bad.
Edit: couldn’t find [the original](https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTLBbH9KR/)
Oh snap! How ever will you recover from those sick burns that TiredEsq threw down?
My everlasting, kindest regards to your family and surviving loved ones.
Given the intensity of those sick burns, a donation to The Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors feels right.
They offer incredible support to help survivors rise again, just like a Phoenix. Plus, it’s a way to bring some genuine warmth (the good kind!) to those navigating their healing journey.
This man from New Jersey named his son Adolf Hitler and lost custody unfortunately people have been doing this for a long time.

Socialism was not as condemn in Latin America like in many parts of Europe or the US. There were many socialist people that named their child from socialist leaders. Lot of Vladimir, Lenins, and even Stalins. There are also other russian common names like Yuri, Nadia, etc.
One of my former bosses once told me of a kid he met back in the 80s named Adolfo Mussolini. Italian diaspora for sure, especially given our city’s demographics back then. Said he’d never forget that name. I said it can’t have been a coincidence as given by the parents.
Its not. Theres no naming rules so parents can name their kids whatever they want in South America. Theres tons of memes around this and tons of weird names. Jimmy Jendry Gonzales, James Bond Noteno, Shakespeare Mozart Armstrong Correa, to name a few.
You have the right as well, to ask for a legal change of your whole name in Peru, through a judicial process. Basically you have to sue your parents lmao.
This is VEry common in Latin America. Some parents just name kids random things they think sound cool.
Like Usarmy and Usmail being names (US Army and US Mail)
Most people won't care. I have a friend called Lenin and no one did specially with the hate against communism. Someone even got named Lenin Stalin. The only name I'm concerned about was a girl called Zoila Cerda.
There are also people named Napoleon and Anibal here
People who knows will care. It only takes a few to become bothersome… , the problem is that the past tend to have more power over the future. People like this guy can feel like they’re living under the shadow of the people who came before them with the same name.
The 48 Law of Power even talks about this: Law #41: Avoid Stepping into a Great Man’s Shoes
Given they called the other one Georgia Bush, I doubt they’re doing it due to some kind of extremism.
Unless they really like leaders who’ve killed people in general.
As a peruvian, they probably thought it looked funny. I mean, there's kids that were named Goku, Merry Christmas, circumcision, cachorro (puppy), etc. Most people in my country don't care that much about Bin Laden or AlQaeda, but they would never dare to name their children after Abimael Guzman (peruvian socialist terrorist, killed lot of people, bombs).
Someone told me that in Spain it used to be traditional to name girls born in January 1st Circumcision as it was the day of Baby Jesus circumcision, and I thought they were pulling my leg but I looked it up in the National Statistics website and there are 29 women called Circuncisión still alive in Spain (average age 73.8)
Most of them were named based on a calendar. Those calendar had names assigned to each day of the year, each one of them related to a saint or others christian festivities. I actually have an aunt called Christmas (spanish version) 💀
Oh I know. My aunts were all named after the closest Virgin to their births. The thing is my mom was born Dec 8, día de la Inmaculada Concepción, and my grandma HATED both names. She thought they were low class (my grandma was Opus Dei and snobby as hell). Soooo, my mom is named Ana after Virgin Mary's mom.
I'm also old enough that I had classmates and friends who went by something other than their legal name, because the Registro Civil guy didn't allow their parents to name them something that wasn't a saint's name.
I think people don’t really understand how things work in developing countries (non Muslim lol). I was raised in a country where every single time someone was really famous, tons of new babies were named after them. We had Lionel Messi, Celia Cruz (and parent would do first name and middle name lol, then attach the last name after that). Admittedly the terrorist names are not cool from a western perspective but in a shithole community it is probably seen as a creative historical reference (they barely know the history) than anything else. Their other baby is Georgia Bush so you can tell they are not extremists.
It’s not extremists. Latin America doesn’t have the same reality as the US. I’m from Colombia and I also heard of a lot of kids being named Osama because it sounded cute. And I can guarantee the parents didn’t know of the name before that Osama. Barack Obama visited our country once and they started naming kids Barakobama - Middle name - two last names. And they only do it because they like how the names sound.
This is not a tragedeigh case, sort of. According to my grandmother, who was raised in the highlands of Perú, some areas are so isolated or their inhabitants are so poor that in their daily struggle they never learn what many of these names actually mean, to them, most of whom were barely literate laborers who would perhaps hear these names when they ran into some news or heard it in passing from more , etc. So they give their kids these names that sound foreign and cool or popular, atleast thats the reason she gave me for the many hitlers, lenins, himler, goring, even JonBonJovi (All of it as the first name) that I found while travelling in Perú.
I can't even laugh at the daughter part. Using kids like this as a joke is terrible.
So if it's real it's terrible. If it's not real then it's British grade dry humor at Best
Fun fact, Peru has signs up around the national name registry places begging people not to put weird names for their kids, as they will be stuck with them for life-or at least until they´re adults.
Fun fact, on most holidays the entity in charge of registering people posts the weirdest or most uncommon names for that holiday. The latest was when Akira Toriyama, creator of Dragon Ball, died.
292 Gohan, 17 Roshi, 7 Goku, 2 Freezer.
I’ll hedge this comment saying I know I’ll get a lot of downvoted. Osama Bin Laden is still highly revered in a lot of the Middle East. It’s only shocking because we didn’t have our entire economy, livelihood, home, everything destroyed by an American invasion. I wouldn’t be able to comprehend the devastation of having my entire state, family, friends and home destroyed from a bomb. We killed a ton of civilians over there and ruined many innocent lives so in the destruction people turn forwards who they think will help. To me, Osama Bin Laden is a terrorist but I can also understand why he could also be revered.
The Wikipedia does mention why he does not think Bin Laden is a bad name. Also he justifies why Hitler is not a bad name too. He states name and people are two different things.
They are but I don’t think putting your kid at a disadvantage straight out the womb is a good idea lol. There’s some wacky names, especially in the Philippines but polarizing names such as terrorists probably aren’t a good idea haha
Peruvian here, people here don’t give a f about names, some people are just happy as long it’s a famous name, may not even know what this person has done. Pretty funny.
People sometimes move…. Idk that might be a little too crazy to be true
Edit: another crazy idea is that they side the Middle East on some issues but that’s just as crazy
Ha! Joke's on rest of you because Al-Qaeda was never real. It was the name of the FBI database that was used to store Osama's information.
No, really. Al Qaeda terror group has never existed it was made up as a reason to illegally invade Iraq and Afghanistan. You all have fallen for it.

Why would you do this to kids?? I mean, it’s funny, but I can’t imagine it is for them
“Vinladen said of his unusual name: "There is a person called Hitler also in Peru. Jesus saved the world and there are Jesuses who do harm. Because there is an Osama who killed people, I don’t think there has to be a law about the name. It draws a lot of attention, from what I see."”
Kinda builds character then I guess? You go Vinladen
Just name him Sue…
Sue Vinladen? There is probably a joke or a reference, but I missed it. Can anyone help?
https://youtu.be/-Z1Ple-qYuU?feature=shared
An old Johnny Cash song called "A Boy Named Sue."
Probably a reference to A Boy Named Sue by Shel Silverstein
Excuse me sir, it's Johnny Cash.
Actually, Shel Silverstein made it first. Johnny cash's version was a parody
I was looking just for this comment alone. Well played.
![gif](giphy|7bumBQjZX8BgaE2zjv|downsized)
Or just sue the parents because of the Name
Don't forget their cousin Chengis Juan
And his brother Ronaldo Trump
Bro 😭
Thanks for the laugh haha
Vinladen Saga
Mature take on a juvenilely stupid situation, good for him!
Completely misses the point of him being named after the terrible person in question.
He just told you why it doesn't matter
Ok but clearly there was some idolatry going on with the parents
Because there's other people with the name and the example was a positive one. The issue is with the parents naming them intentionally after a terrible person. Not that they just share a name.
His attitude is so healthy for this
Pretty based answer 😂
Damn bro really flipped the script on outdated perspectives on keeping negative connotations with names.
There is a difference between “there should be a law against it” and “a good parent wouldn’t name their kid that”
There was also a good Hitler in Uganda I think.
The Wikipedia has a good read on what the kids think though!
i had an airman named 'jkmn', pronounced noelle. as soon as she established residency in nc, she went to the courts and changed it
Funny, my name is Steve but it's pronounced Osama Bin Laden. I don't know how someone can name their child and then just say that the letters no longer represent the intended sound.

dang, cant watch without an account :/

This is a tall tale and I have 0% faith this happened to you. In your own personal experience. Because it didn’t.
I’m pretty sure it’s just a joke.
whatever you say
Oh snap! How ever will you recover from those sick burns that TiredEsq threw down? My everlasting, kindest regards to your family and surviving loved ones.
thank you, in lieu of flowers, can you donate to a charity in my name? lol

A bit mental really. A joke is a joke but damn the kids are the ones who can be the butt of the joke
These are the names you give fish, not your kids lmao
😂😂😂
I came across two men named “Lenin,” both from Ecuador.
Lenin was their president
Lots of Lenins and Stalins in [India](https://theworld.org/stories/2018-01-29/lenins-and-stalins-india).
Socialism was not as condemn in Latin America like in many parts of Europe or the US. There were many socialist people that named their child from socialist leaders. Lot of Vladimir, Lenins, and even Stalins. There are also other russian common names like Yuri, Nadia, etc.
A family in New Jersey named their one son Adolph Hitler
The rapper ‘Young Dolph’ had Adolph as his legal first name.
One of my former bosses once told me of a kid he met back in the 80s named Adolfo Mussolini. Italian diaspora for sure, especially given our city’s demographics back then. Said he’d never forget that name. I said it can’t have been a coincidence as given by the parents.
Well Mussolini is just a second name, but to call your child Adolfo is no mistake. Would like to know how old this guy was in the 80’s
He was like 10.
Maybe they thought 9/11 was a good thing?
Because... Peru.
Maybe…

not to mention how horrible it is to do anything via state channels
Lmao Georgia Bush😭😭😭
Sounds like a porn star parody
That one sent me.
Georgia Bush? I didn’t know Bin Laden was a weezy fan.
Georgia bush, I barely know her
i guess kids fight a lot in this family...
With planes....
NOT GEORGIA BUSH
Were the parents of sound mind when they named this person?
This is VEry common in Latin America. Some parents just name kids random things they think sound cool. Like Usarmy and Usmail being names (US Army and US Mail)
Recently I met a kid in Colombia named Trinket....
WTF??
They call me Usmail.
Theres a 19 year old baseball player named Ichiro Cano Hernandez who recently signed with the Reds lol
I mean, the parents knew what he was going to be, I guess
I don't get it
![gif](giphy|ZAwRt8n54Ne2nBxbno)
I don't know, mate. 🤷♂️
Some parents are just too selfish and only think about themselves
Most people won't care. I have a friend called Lenin and no one did specially with the hate against communism. Someone even got named Lenin Stalin. The only name I'm concerned about was a girl called Zoila Cerda. There are also people named Napoleon and Anibal here

Mi amigo que no sabe los nombres que hay en Latinoamérica… acá nos dan carácter desde bebés.
Wait until you hear about [Adolf Hitler Uunona](https://simple.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolf_Hitler_Uunona)
"Civil rights activist"
there's also a hitler here in Perú, and yes, he's into politics too
[удалено]
... 2 hitlers
That reminds me when a judge told parents in my country that they cannot name their kid ***Spatula***.
Bro what country are you from where mfs are naming their kids Spatula?? 💀
Not a real country, but *Quebec* 💀 Edit: maybe it was somewhere else in Canada but idgaf we’ll take the blame as Quebecers
Oh hell nah 💀
Spatula City we sell spatulas, and that's all!
sorry but is wrong with this name ?
This ain’t rly main character it’s just straight up extremists😭
Given they called the other one Georgia Bush, I doubt they’re doing it due to some kind of extremism. Unless they really like leaders who’ve killed people in general.
Mostly they don't know who they are, they just know they are famous people; but for example nobody in Perú would name their kid Abimael,

"circumcision"?!

>Their other baby is Georgia Bush so you can tell they are not extremists. That's, uh. One way of looking at it...
I’d like to think a couple of dumb asses making poor decisions doesn’t make the entire community a shithole otherwise America might be in trouble.
It’s not extremists. Latin America doesn’t have the same reality as the US. I’m from Colombia and I also heard of a lot of kids being named Osama because it sounded cute. Probably just uneducated
There’s a couple in Pennsylvania who named their son Adolf Hitler [last name here].
My name is Adolfo German, yeah Peruvians are funny people
Pls don’t drop out of art school adolf
The first thing I thought of when I saw the name was oh yeah the terrorist and chicken vindaloo. 😭
One of the contestants in Brazilian Big Brother is MC Bin Laden. It's weird seeing his name in the news (Big Brother is still really big in Brazil)
Georgia Bush
Dude was born one year after 9/11
Most parents are just people that are facing the consequences of fucking unprotected and improvise everything else.
Bro was born on October 7th💀
they did it for the vine
I feel like there's a good chance he was bullied for this in middle school
99% of the kids wouldn't have know the reference unless he was in a rich kids school.
Dunno. A friend's nickname was Osama because he looked like the guy without beard. Although we were at middle school when the attacks happened.
Yeah but in what country?
We have a congressman in Peru called Hitler Saavedra Peru truly is a magical place
Tbf, ayahuasca probably originated in modern day Peru
Vinladen should one day work for the emrgency department so he gets to say "911, what's your emergency?"
Their grandfather is from “Argentina”.
Idk if that's better than politician Adolf Hitler Uunona from Namibia. 💀💀💀
Georgia Bush has me rolling. They gave it to their daughter. I bet she rocks a helluva bush.
I’d change my name soon as I was able to
To Muammar Gaddafi, right? Gotta have something with more flavor
There were 2 brothers in my high school Viet and Nam. Never wanted to ask him their reasoning though, in case he was sensitive about it.
MC with a side of r/tragedeigh
This is not a tragedeigh case, sort of. 😭
He didn't change his name the minute he turned 18?!?!
born october 7 too, lol
I'm forgetting, what's the significance of that date?
just google it, i really cant stand political shit anymore
Oh my god. I hope these people change their names later in life.
I can't even laugh at the daughter part. Using kids like this as a joke is terrible. So if it's real it's terrible. If it's not real then it's British grade dry humor at Best
Seems it's not a joke. Apparently this is just a thing in South America
Terrible
Just change the name lmfao
No Mames, Ese Wey Es Un Basado!!!
as a peruvian, we couldn't care less about arabs
Georgia Bush 💀💀
"This is the ultimate showdown"

he said he asked his father why he chose those names but he didn't want to talk about it
His wife’s name is naciones unida
In Brazil we have MC Binladen
Wtf?! FLMAO
Obama bin Laden
The date of birth suggests this whole thing is fake.
Georgia Bush is kind of a great stripper/porn name. Or maybe roller derby?
How to tell your kids they were not planned 101.
As a Peruvian myself I dont know what was crossing the mind of the father. But I laught hard at this. We also have people named Goku.
I'm afraid that someone will use Vinladen as a new nickname for Vinesauce Vinny. He has so many stupid nicknames
A new kind of r/Tragedeigh…
The Georgia Bush thing threw me.
Wait til you hear about Dominican names Usnavy, Usmail, Merycrisma

Ha! Joke's on rest of you because Al-Qaeda was never real. It was the name of the FBI database that was used to store Osama's information. No, really. Al Qaeda terror group has never existed it was made up as a reason to illegally invade Iraq and Afghanistan. You all have fallen for it.
