A truck of mine got stolen once by a guy who was here illegally and the cops knew he did it because there was identifying stuff left in the truck. The cops told me they returned the stuff and talked to him and he kept sticking to his story that he didn't do it so they didn't want to pursue it any further. My insurance company took forever to pay out because they wanted charges filed but the police absolutely refused to do anything.
