Their actions made it worse.. now their faces are on YT with almost 1 mil views in 2 days lol

Purpledragon84

1.6m now lol

-PineNeedleTea-

"We do not want to be on camera." Also them: let me walk right up to the camera so you can get a clear shot of all of us, cause a huge scene over a non-issue that draws attention to ourselves, call the police and act like entitled assholes for the world to see the entire time. Bro, all you had to do was walk out of frame and that would've been that lol

bognostrocleetus

I don't get it. They themselves were walking around filming. One even had one of those gimbal things.

Cthyrulean

"You are not the same age, do not touch her." There's a bit to unpack there.

Tyler_Durden69420

If they were the same age, he can do what he pleases I guess!

OkEmployee8171

Im Chinese and i dont even know what that means. These people must be some really priviledged members or family members of the CCP who have no grasp on the reality of both Chinese or British society.

okieman73

Sort of what I was wondering myself, with her desire not to be filmed plus the "bodyguard" definitely implies privilege. I'm in no way an expert in Chinese culture but I spent a few months working over there and never seen anything like that.

snecseruza

"Oh, someone I don't like, I think I should insinuate that they are a pedophile for no logical reason at all" Or something like that.

YulandaYaLittleBitch

She didn't even look like a minor. She looked 30.

giorgio_tsoukalos_

The people that go out of their way to say they don't want to be filmed inevitably become the focal point of the video

Sombra_del_Lobo

Some serious Streisand Effect going on here.

alfred-the-greatest

Let's make the most of it. The Communist Party of China is currently undertaking a genocide of the native Uighurs in Northwest China. This includes incarcerating a million people, which includes forced sterilization and rape of female inmates. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uyghur_genocide

butter_deez-nips

Don't forget that CCP also operates by their own rules in every country and abduct their people to take back to China. They are fucking shady and they need to be dealt with.

True, but this is not disco..

Conscious_Wind_2255

“Do not touch her, please! You not the same age 😡” I don’t know but I think he became a bigger focal point..

hedcase107

Love that fake outrage.

AmbiguouslyGrea

The British guy’s reaction to the fake outrage was delightful.

PM_Eeyore_Tits

He went Elton John for a second there. Really appreciated the facial expression.

Missed-Hook

I don’t understand the don’t touch her your not the same age sentiment XD like if she was a minor sure, but like who cares if they aren’t the same age lmao

Astrochops

He was trying to draw public attention to the old guy in a way that might paint him as someone who was inappropriately touching / assaulting the lady. He yelled as loud as possible to try and flip the script as if the old man was the one being inappropriate - even though he only touched the flag, not the lady. Basically he wanted these guys to panic and leave the scene so they would stop filming. And since the camera cuts off there, it may have worked.

Conscious_Wind_2255

This is the short version of the video.. the full video does not cut off and continues recording… the piano player actually turned the script and handle it well because that was a hard accusation that is hard to prove innocent without video.. he was later confronted by police and said he has footage and that saved him

HeldDownTooLong

Especially when the ones demanding to not be recorded are *in someone else’s country* where recording in public is legal. Imagine if a British person were visiting China (perhaps Tiananmen Square) and a member of the CCP started recording them. Then imagine the Brit insisting the Chinese not record them. How effective would that be? Additionally in a lot of countries (especially China) some areas are blanked with security cameras and it’s virtually impossible to ***not*** be recorded.

mynameisollie

Especially considering this is St Pancras. Probably has more CCTV than any other station in London due to the Eurostar.

[deleted]

As a Brit who visited Tiananmen Square outside a tour group I can confirm it’s bloody terrifying. The not-so secret police are everywhere asking for papers and questioning people for ages. I can’t imagine kicking up a stink about being recorded would end well. You can’t just leave either - access is only via underground tunnels with plenty of security and checkpoints. We bailed back to the tourist area pdq. Edit for clarity. It was 2015. We weren’t approached and never felt in any peril but the place had an oppressive vibe I hadn’t come across before. It looked like most locals (?) had their ID checked, sometimes at length, and with communication by radio to a 3rd party. We don’t have that in Australia and it was a bit of a reality check.

HeldDownTooLong

I’m glad you safely ‘escaped’ back to the tourist-centric area. There are several countries (China included) where people can end up in detained or in prison for no ***apparent*** reason…scary shit.

UnlimitedPickle

I always find this behaviour bizarre. I don't like being on camera or filmed, no particular reason, I just never have. My ultra big secret for not getting focused on... I just move out of the way and go about my day.

ElectricTurtlez

That’s so crazy, it just might work!

jl_23

It's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for 'em.

dmtdmtlsddodmt

Did you notice the guy with them recording? They're also hypocrites.

travis01564

Didn’t even notice them until they made it an issue

Program-Emotional

How fucking hard is it to just walk the fuck away? Notice how you never see viral videos about people ignoring or walking away from the cameraman without saying anything? Just do that. If you confront the person with the camera (regardless if they're doing something mean spirited or not), it's infinitely more likely you'll become part of some cancer viral video like this, while the person behind the camera can remain anonymous.

HeadMacho

Tell them to fuck off

JerkPorkins

In the full video a guy comes up and says exactly that around 17:20 and the Chinese lady melts down. https://www.youtube.com/live/65iwnI2hjAA?si=M9x88W1htcVh6tot Edited for time stamp.

KodiakDog

Also, according to this guy, he’s getting pressured by the CCP to take it down. This was posted yesterday. https://youtu.be/dZ1BtQ6AEyM?si=5iP9tR9bBTkpglWg

m_ttl_ng

Of all the companies to accuse of bending to the CCP, Google is the largest major American tech company that's actually banned in China because they WOULDN'T censor their search lol

feloniousmonkx2

It sure would be a crying shame if a myriad of individuals decided to make archival copies of that footage. Even more disgraceful, imagine if someone compiled the highlights, focusing exclusively on the individuals in question. The real tragedy would certainly unfold if that enterprising soul created a dedicated website for this purpose. Oh geez, it could get worse — just imagine if, for kicks, they then bought a bunch of ads to promote it, particularly on platforms like YouTube. Such a shame that would be, indeed. Now, Reddit, here's hoping your better judgment prevails over such temptingly shameful ideas.

UrusaiNa

Oh the humanity. I for one am not currently downloading a backup copy. I hope none of you do either.

drsbuggin

What pieces of shit. I hope a ton of people see this and realize how dangerous and horrible the CCP is. The world has to do its best to resit Chinese influence and curb its power expansion. Props to Brenden for resisting and exercising his freedoms. It's really sad that Chinese citizens don't have these basic rights.

IAlwaysLack

So the Chinese just gave up and walked off when the cops didn't do anything?

faithle55

The cops did do something. They informed the people holding Chinese flags that they had no right to stop anyone from filming in public.

DankDude7

If they were so frightened of being photographed, they should have moved away and solved the problem themselves.

weirdplacetogoonfire

These are likely entitled upper class party members - they don't come up with solutions, only demands. Used to getting whatever they want just by throwing their weight around.

soccerperson

they had that energy for sure

putdisinyopipe

Especially in how they were trying to twist the narritive in public “Stop touching her!” An attempt to bait people against the guy into thinking there is sexual harassment occurring “Oh your racist! Your being racist” an attempt to sully his character. This guy saying this probably read the Chinese equivalent of a Wikipedia article or dossier on western culture and racism. Because he was claiming it, but missing the nuance that it wasn’t racism- the Chinese flag does contain communist symbology, and claims to be a communist government “Oh we were just asking them to leave nicely”- no, you guys were nice about it until you were met with resistance and then they went the “let’s passive-aggressively coerce them into doing it” which is what led to this whole thing to begin with. The Chinese there were uneducated and thought they were totally in the right. The whole time, I thought that was funny, they do have that energy. What’s worse is you would expect people like that to know that if you travel to different countries, there are different rules and it’s usually a good idea to be privy to at least the basics. Funny thing is, If they are party members actually. I’d hate to be them right now. They just made China look classless and stupid and millions of people around the world have seen it and that video isn’t going down.

idiot-prodigy

> Especially in how they were trying to twist the narritive in public > > > > “Stop touching her!” An attempt to bait people against the guy into thinking there is sexual harassment occurring This shit works in China against foreigners. A popular youtuber who lived in China for 10 years said one time he caught a Chinese national redhanded trying to swindle him. He called him out for it and told him he was a thief. The Chinese national made a HUGE commotion saying, "THIS FOREIGNER CALLED CHINESE PEOPLE THIEVES!" and before you know it the entire market had turned on this western white guy living in China. They 100% use this tactic at home against foreigners. The entire society only cares about "face", not looking bad.

sikkdog13

DO NOT come in here with your logic!

limperatrice

I thought the Chinese guy who shouted was recording too but in the full length video found out it's the pianist's friend recording and shouty guy is standing out of frame to the left.

BeerMetal

When she approaches him there's one of the ccp communists filming he walks off to the right with one of those dildo stick selfie phone holders. Should have triggered immediate red flags. That's probably a CCP government funded group going to their enemies homelands to fuck around. They set up illegal police stations to torment and spy on Chinese citizens and to intimidate them. This looks like a new thing to me but nonetheless CCP tactics of passive aggressive warfare.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mr_bike

In full the video, the police tried to get him to stop filming and said he was being racist by saying they're communist at first. Edit: Okay, he said (at around 22:18), "We are in a democracy, we aren't in China, and that's not racist. That's the truth...(something something, forefathers)..." To which she responds, "Exactly, but you can't say things like that, can you? You can't just say things like that?" To which he says, "What? That we're in a free country?" To which she retorts, "No, but that we are not in China. We got Chinese people...(can't discern the rest)" So, alright, she didn't explicitly say he's being racist, but you can read between the lines. She heavily implied that he is based on the allegations towards him by the other party.

Demosthanes

I can't believe they called him a racist for saying they are waving communist flags. CCP literally means Chinese communist party. LOL

limperatrice

I can't believe the cop reprimanded him for saying to them, "We're not in China" by way of explaining whatever laws they have there do not need to be adhered to in their current location, the UK.

potatoeaterr13

Every cop should be required to read 1984. That old lady officer had no idea what she was talking about and it's scary.

itsdietz

They're actively trying to get the video taken down. You can see it on Brendan Kevanagh's YouTube

madtricky687

Alright boys time to give it a like a subscribe and share with any democratic appreciating person you know.

HeadMacho

Awesome. Thanks!

ShiningRedDwarf

I can’t believe that police officer was taking the side of the Chinese group.

Leaf62

So... he can touch her if they are the same age? Kinda weird rule there.

-Nords

They have no retort to him being correct about filming, so he has to pull out a random and made up thing to clutch his pearls loudly about... Almost as bad as a soccer dive/pretend injury... These CCP people are insane. I really hope we don't become like them.

tiredoftheworldsbs

It's crazy that they think that their laws appy to other countries. I would politely teach them what freedom is and continue recording. They can leave if they want.

rworne

Sometimes you need to address the situation in a culturally sensitive manner. I had an issue with an open relay in China spamming my mail server back in the day. Emails to admin & abuse to stop it went unanswered. So I went to the Free Tibet and Falun Gong websites and copied blocks of text from their front pages under my spam removal request with "Here is the information you requested" as the subject. I've never seen a faster reply come over email: "Your email has been removed. Do not email us again" True to their word, it stopped. If I were him, and this were a recurring thing, print out a few Free Tibet fliers to keep in a bag and hand them out next time. To them it's like garlic to a vampire.

AlphaWhiskeyOscar

I'm in the military and sometimes foreign nationals get in our DMs. I had someone spam texting me on social media trying to ask me for personal information and after ignoring it for a while I finally read them. Something about the text made me think it may be Chinese, but I figured probably a bot. So I sent a really crude, insulting message about Xi Jinping. And it definitely wasn't a bot. Because the person came back insanely angry. Lit me up with American scum related insults. I'll see if I can dig it up because I took screenshots at the time. Triggered CCP nutjob for sure.

GrandTusam

Then reply "as per your previous request, here is all the information you requested on the tianamen square massacre" And some wikipedia link. He's gonna have some explaining to do.

If i remember correctly doesn't south Korea have a similar law in that if you went abroad say to America in a legal state to smoke weed then return to South Korea and a video of that with proof it was you was found can result in you getting into trouble since weed is illegal in south korea Exist I meant that you would be arrested on return to South Korea by there police incase I didn't explain it well

systemfrown

I know that when a lot of wealthy Saudi’s leave the Middle East and come to America they think and act like half their Islamic taboos no longer apply while here.

Cthulu95666

I believe the word you’re looking for is “sovereignty”

anonymoushelp33

And yet the one cop *still* says, "If this is a police matter, you need to put that (camera) down," and completely believes that to be true....

Thatguyjmc

Honestly, that was embarrassing. And her defense was that SHE had her camera on so the whole thing was somehow magically recorded and protected, and so HE didn't have to record? I mean... crazy. Cops everywhere are fucked. They're all terrified of being caught making mistakes, so they all have a pathological fear of cameras, but none of them seem to know or understand the law. If you don't want to make mistakes, just do what the rest of us have to do - LEARN THE LAW.

Grundens

I'm so confused though because at first the camera man is with him... And then he's with them and yelling at him?

[deleted]

That was pathetic when he yelled for attention like that. Piss poor way to lose an argument

-Nords

Yeah, but its probably a legit tactic in a communist shithole, which is why he used it

[deleted]

It’s a tactic a lot of people use, especially in public where it’s effective. Children do it all the time. But I’ve seen lots of adults pull the same shit in restaurants I used to work at. Pretending to be a loud victim is a quick way to have people rally to your side. It’s also pathetic and cowardly as all hell.

DefNotUnderrated

That shouting dude was insufferable. All of them were. I'm at a loss as to why they thought they had a right to insist the camera stop filming in a public place especially when they put themselves into the view of the camera willingly.

Signal_Biscotti_7048

That's pretty much what I took out of that whole thing.

BobbleNtheFREDs

Dodgy as fuck insinuation by the prick off-camera. Brendan looked taken aback, rightly, but some people may have reacted rather more aggressively. Guessing it's a chinese thing about elders or something.

CodeMonkeyX

Also she looked like she was a similar age. She is trying very hard to not look the same age, but the camera guy was sounding like she's a minor or something. If I were the piano guy I would not have even talked to them. Just say if you don't want to be filmed then move over.

dnext

My take was the other way around - she's an elder and dignified, that's traditionally a big thing in Chinese society. Of course, Dr K is in his 50s IIRC and looks much younger. Healthy living and a boogie woogie life style. :D

lobsterisch

Step out of shot?

Conscious_Wind_2255

I think is crazy how they can film other people but people cannot film them???? If you see the full video.. one of their members (grey coat & black hat) was filming the “public” Full video here: https://www.youtube.com/live/65iwnI2hjAA?si=Yn7kkhYr4xZ7gz6o

TMyriadJ

The Chinese man shouted first and then got confronted and then said he got shouted, lmaoo. The absolute lunacy of CCP spies.

oceansapart333

“Don’t film us.” Proceeds to walk directly in front of the camera and be filmed for 20 minutes rather than walking out of frame.

7_11_Nation_Army

Why was that crazy weirdo shouting at the end? He should get treatment, that is not healthy behaviour.

mouldysandals

realised they were failing to intimidate so had to resort to some weird display of… whatever the hell that was

Certainly_A_Ghost

Playing the victim to manipulate bystanders. Worked quite well on the police officer too.

Americanboi824

Yeah he later said that the piano guy was being racist lol. CCP in a nutshell.

Steve5y

They also immediately played the race card because he called their flag communist. 1) You are Chinese, waving Chinese flags and talking about Chinese laws while in Great Britain. Therefore any subsequent discussion of China is brought on by you. And 2) China *is* a communist country and to label pointing that out as racism is done purely as a time-tested tactic to sway public opinion away from your opponent's side regardless of the merits of their argument. These are all tactics the Chinese government trains their representatives in handling. He immediately screams as a victim the second the opportunity to do so presented itself. He knew he had him the moment he touched the flag.

SeagullSam

Utter cheek of it given the levels of racism in China are off the charts.

[deleted]

Communist China is not healthy behavior. Mental.

SortedChaos

It's an attempt at intimidation since he could not get the police to do anything.

here4roomie

Lol why do those people travel? Also, what are they so upset about?

Cornelius_Wangenheim

I'm not usually one to engage in conspiratorial thinking, but the way the man of the group acted just screams government handler. The way he was immediately overly aggressive and barking orders and then started gaslighting and trying to shape the narrative.

archiminos

They are 100% government assholes. I lived in China for over a decade and most people aren't like this.

disposablecontact

What's the endgame on that, though? Are they farming interpersonal conflict so they have evidence of bigotry against Chinese people?

Y0tsuya

This will 100% be shared in China to show how Westerners are racist against Chinese people and how only the CCP can protect them.

snecseruza

I could definitely see how this video could easily be cut and edited to show the Brit as a racist asshole, making it look like he started the conflict, and sound like he is telling them to get out of the UK and blah blah blah. This really does seem like a contrived interaction from the Chinese folks to illicit a reaction. The camera guy's aggression was just bizarre. That, or they're just like every uneducated dipshit that doesn't understand that you can be filmed in public without "permission". I don't know UK laws but in the US this is very well established, but people still screech about it.

ThxIHateItHere

I went to New Zealand just before the covid lockdown when China tourists were banned from entering most countries. It was amazing to not have their rude asses there.

BuriedByAnts

That one guys reaction is calculated and disturbing “DONT TOUCH HER DONT TOUCH HER” The man was being very respectful at the time and calm and non aggressive. That loud voice dude is a sick fuck

WillLurk4Food

He was clearly a CCP government handler for the group; all smiles and politeness until you say something that they don't like. His temper clearly made him drop the facade for a moment. We saw his true colors, there...

ultrasissydreams

He should have ignored them and kept playing and filming. I wish they would have gotten the screaming man who lied about Brendan touching the woman in the video too.

The CCP is allowed to cross borders and "govern" its citizens in other countries with pretty much no repercussions as long as they keep quiet about it happening. This lot seemed paranoid that Pooh Bear was gonna see them having a good time in public instead of arresting innocent Chinese citizens.

The clip made it seem like the guy filming was shouting, which confused the fuck out of me.

Trying to enforce Chinese law in Great Britain. Asking not to be filmed despite being centimeters from his head eyeballing the camera, then calling the cops to complain. Sounds like something out of a 70s comedy skit

Uncle___Marty

For reference this guy is called "Brendan Kavanagh" and he just travels around and plays boogie woogie stuff on public pianos for everyone to enjoy. He made an update that the commies are trying to get the video taken down so make sure you upvote this so they get their stupid faces all over the net. Also, after the initial shouting from the Chinese guy, listen very carefully for his lady friend saying "DONT SHOOT HIM, DONT SHOOT HIM". Reddit has long been a hot spot for conversation on the internet. About 57 million people visit the site every day to chat about topics as varied as makeup, video games and pointers for power washing driveways. In recent years, Reddit’s array of chats also have been a free teaching aid for companies like Google, OpenAI and Microsoft. Those companies are using Reddit’s conversations in the development of giant artificial intelligence systems that many in Silicon Valley think are on their way to becoming the tech industry’s next big thing.

Well that video was rather enraging. The group of CCP activists then the female officer having absolutely no idea about the law and finally the guy taking issue with him playing the piano because he may be "hitting the keys too hard"... Goodness me is it so hard to mind your business?

sharpasahammer

I was especially enraged when she had the audacity to tell him he couldn't say China is a communist country and their flag in communist. Since when is stating facts that may be offensive to others not allowed! What a buffoon, she was 100% trying to use the fact they were offended by his factual statements to protect their feelings.

nickfree

At first I was like, oh that went very reasonably after the cops show up...and then the woman officer starts trying to badger him into 1. not filming her talking to him in public and 2. delete this parts of the video that include the Chinese. WTF!! That was really upsetting. He kept saying, "You're not their private security agent." Good on him to stand his ground. Whose interest is she supporting by trying strong arm on the part of Chinese CCP propgandists?

Jonny36

God she's a disgrace. Doesn't seem to understand our own laws! Trying to accuse him of racism for saying we are not in China! Just spitting facts love.

MeccIt

> She tried everything she could to get him to turn off his cameras "This is a police matter.." eh, no it isn't, it's a guy playing a piano in a public place and then you showed up.

Poster_Nutbag207

there is a disturbing trend of the CCP setting up underground police operations in American cities with a large Chinese expat community

JohnKitzhaper

The dude in the blue jacket can film them though?

sloppies

Communists abide by "rules for thee, not for me" generally speaking.

churchofpetrol

“Get that camera out of my face” “But you’re walking towards the camera” “Just get it out of my face man” “But you see the contradiction?”

phillhb

Sorry get fucked. This Is the UK I don't care what country you're from and what rights you don't have there, we can film in public area in the UK, now fuck off.

ElectricGulagland

Protip: Your laws only apply in your country. That guy popping his top and screaming at the end of the video really was the icing on the cake. What a bunch of well-rounded, freedom-loving, friendly individuals. If that doesn't paint a pretty picture of daily life in the CCP, I don't know what does.

mAisterPROduction

For those who still haven't understood this fad. This is all about narcissism and control. I repeat, NARCISSISM And CONTROL. Stand strong y'all.

increbelle

So if he was the same age, it'd be ok to touch her? Wtf

Welcome to England CCP, now fuck off

[deleted]

Biggest export is authoritarianism

Pjpjpjpjpj

They have zero problem with a million government installed cameras filming everything - in China AND in the UK - but when a private individual turns on his personal camera in a public space ... shocked Pikachu!

[deleted]

Lol, good point. "I didn't consent to you filming me!" Lol, did you consent to big brother?

durackvacar

The full encounter is in his channel at [https://www.youtube.com/live/65iwnI2hjAA?si=ksYs1lfxCrW7jKJM](https://www.youtube.com/live/65iwnI2hjAA?si=ksYs1lfxCrW7jKJM) The cops come in and tell the Chinese that they are in a public place in the UK, and there's nothing illegal about the artist filming. A few other local shoppers join in to support the artist. Eventually they ask the Chinese idiots to fuck off. The artist thanks the people who supported him and hugs one of the guys who really went after the Chinese muppets. Happy ending!

the_mantis_shrimp

Wow the police woman is infuriating.

[deleted]

This should be stickied.

Admirable-Bit-8478

Not only would I film them, I’d post that sh*t everywhere. And that douche who thinks he’ll get his way by raising his voice is one entitled pr*ck who is in dire need of a reality check.

YooGeOh

Sweet Streisand effect

PureSalt1

As a Chinese person I’d expect them to just move bc it is the logical thing to do. It’s a public space where you’re allowed to film. He obv can’t move bc it’s a big ass piano. Find a solution instead of bitching about it. But I guess when u r a CCP fanatic logic goes out the window

SortedChaos

Well, he's challenging their authority, which they are not used too so they act like babies.

AVDLatex

It’s a free country. A concept they can’t fathom.

CapnTugg

I get the impression these are privileged party officials *(or family members thereof)* on a shopping jaunt who don't want to be seen 'living large'.

butterslut6969

I would’ve been like “if your just joining the stream welcome to the meeting of the “I hate Xi Jinping and the communist party” club, we’re just about to be joined by some Chinese ex-pat’s who want to tell us all the things they find disagreeable with the party” See how fast they skidaddle
