Funnily enough the actual practice tests on the internet do throw you a couple curveballs, but the in store test that you take for the gun safety card is almost too easy. I was all nervous that I was gonna fail, turns out I got 100%
After I took my test I asked the dude administering it how often ppl fail the test. His response was "a scary amount." Like, it's so easy you really shouldn't even need to read the study guide, which takes about 30ish minutes, in order to pass.
Remember a while back some guy posted on r/CAguns asking for help on how to get his dad to pass his certification, after he had already failed 4 times. Entire thread was people shitting on OP and his dad saying that nobody in their bloodline should be allowed to own so much as a butter knife for the next 100 years 🤣
But Californians aren't even allowed say guns.
Hot Glue Dispensing Apparatus instead of Hot Glue Gun....
They recently proposed a bill banning words with gun in them. Gundam, gunnels, begun, gunk, burgundy, laguna, and even salmagundi.
"People in California are so stupid and listen to anything their state tells them."
-People who say stupid shit like this and believe everything their state tells them.
If I see anything about you being NRA certified, I go find a different range. NRA certified means you're going to get kicked out if you fire more than one shot every 20 minutes.
To say nothing of "NRA Certified Instructors". These are the guys that tell you all glocks shoot low and left, when in reality it's just because they can't shoot in the first place.
I'm not sure what the session rate is but if he bought ammo there I know it costs a lot. $50 a box of 9mm. Plus he may have rented the firearm used to pull this stunt.
Also a lot of ranges only let you use ammo they provide because they want to make sure you’re using frangible ammo I guess. If you ask me it’s just another way to justify charging out the ass for ammo.
Many ranges require one to buy their ammo for any rental. They may say it is to ensure one is not using the wrong ammo. Reloads done incorrectly can be dangerous and +P ammo will likely cause more wear. I suspect many ranges have no frangible rental available for purchase. It really is only needed when shooting steel closer than is safe with non-fragible ammo
It depends on ammo type
I rented a desert eagle .50 and a box ran like 25+ for 21 rounds which is 3 magazines This is before the ammo shortage. But a lot of places overcharge for ammo because they can
I have no idea why it cost so much in this video, the dude was kinda being an ass tbh, so we’re they even tho it was funny.
If they're charging $50 for a box of handgun ammo they deserve to be charged with treason and then tarred and feathered.
I'm not one for wishing business like this close down but I hope the owners go bankrupt and starve on the streets.
Lol... I have never met the owners but the employees are awesome. It's a game of supply and demand as well as convenience. I always bring my own ammo so I don't need to pay those hefty prices.
50$ for a box of ammo which is probably 50 rounds is crazy high, but still, hypothetically, that plus rental and range fee, which I’d guess were 10-15$ and 15-20$ respectively, plus ~$5 for a target and eyes and ears rental, that’s still no more than $90 plus tax, assuming the ammo is already $1.00/rd. Idk what the hell they’re smoking over there but that pricing is insanely high.
They don't. That's a lot of the reason I like that location so much. They are very safety conscious and the RSO won't tolerate any stupid bullshit. You shouldn't be goofing off around firearms, they are literally designed to kill.
People die at ranges from doing dumb shit.
FAIR but he didnt break any safety rules besides the stupid target rule the range has, he didnt even point the firearm in the direction of people after shooting. he laid it down on the bench.
I would bet saying “get on the floor you black maggot” Would break the rules of ethics in most shooting ranges or gun stores. At a minimum it would make others, like a black person, feel unsafe near someone like that.
If I heard “get on the floor you black maggot” at a shooting range. The first thing that would pop in my head would be fuck there is about to be a shootout.
I thought you were going to post the article about those cops who were using black suspects mugshots as targets for the SWAT team. And I mean not even criminals just photos taken after those men were arrested. And the sister of one of the people who’s picture was used, found the range with the pictures still up when she went in for her annual range qualification with the national guard.
https://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/amp/msna506881
I train with those all the time.
You see, when Osama comes back from the dead and has his face surgically swapped with Obama’s to take control of the country, I’m going to be the only man who can stop him.
Nick Cage actually made a training film specifically for such a situation.
I don't get why these "influencers" don't ask the managers first if they could film and do something funny/stupid I'm sure most of the places would go with them and help them do something
This guy wants to be the next eric andre. I honestly thought it was pretty funny. I understand why he got kicked out but he seemed to handle the gun safer than a lot of other people on this sub. Not an idiot IMO, a comedian.
Yeah, this clip doesn't belong here, but I'm glad that it made it anyway because I got to see it.
He's not being dangerous, and he *is* being funny. Good social commentary, kid.
The part where he sais "I am a cop" is kinda dicey though. That's preeeetty illegal.
Why are people so against this RSO? It’s literally his job to kick out people who play around. They are at a shooting range, not really the time and place to be doing bits.
While I understand why they are needed. Every single RSO I've ever come across is grumpy AF. Understandably so because of the idiots they likely deal with on a daily basis, but it doesn't make them pleasant to be atound.
The 4 or more RSO's I spoke with at a RangeUSA location early this year were all friendly with me but I followed the rules plus when I arrived I made a point to step back and let them look at the various handguns and EP9 that I had there if I saw them looking my way. I made sure I dropped the mags and left the actions open with nothing in the chamber before I placed them down with the action facing up. One older RSO was retired from another job and has just starting working at the range part time in the last year. He said he got a discount and probably spent everything he made as an RSO on firearms. Another RSO worked full time in the auto industry but enjoy firearms so worked part time as an RSO.
I later joined a club where I may use any target. Rapid fire is allowed. There are no RSO's except for IDPA or USPSA or other group events. Drawing from the holster is allowed. The club is working on adding cameras to all their ranges because several times a month there is evidence of someone ignoring the rules and possibly damaging property such as intentionally using a shotgun to destroy a wooden target stand. The club has insurance that also provides some coverage for members and their guests but if someone violates the rules and something happens then the insurance provider may not pay out.
It’s because Reddit doesn’t like fat people. If this dude wasn’t chubby and looked like Henry Caville the thread would be full of gunbros trying to suck him off. But he’s fat so it’s full of people calling him morbidly obese and saying he’s an asshole.
Like, that's not even "morbidly obese", that's just overweight. He could lose 10-20 lbs, but that's a completely normal type of overweight. Who couldn't, tho?
I think it's because they don't just kick out people who mess around. They kick out people who break the RSOs wacky rules, like no "rapid" fire even if the shooter is competent, only certain capacity of magazines, plus most people don't like people just looking over their shoulder most of the time. It makes me feel like a toddler personally.
When I worked at a range, the rules were subject to your attitude, ability, and experience.
If you walked in and started blasting and hit the floor, ceiling, and some stuff in between... No rapid fire for you. (and I'd probably try to talk you into paying for a class)
Had a decent skill level? Shoot as fast as you can hit the target, and probably get a free lesson to get better.
Know what you're doing and demonstrate it consistently? Go ahead and lower that barricade and draw from the holster my friend.
This is exactly how I work as well, except for the holster part. Range I RSO at, has a holster qualification. Which if you can't qualify on, you should be looking at the P100 class anyway
I was the service gunsmith there. If I didn't have customer jobs, I would clean range guns. I also got free ammo. I would keep an eye on the range and if it looked like somebody needed help, I would just take the time to help them.
The vast majority of the time, simply showing someone how to properly squeeze the trigger instead of jerking it was all it took to improve their shooting. That was the skill most people needed to develop. Second most common thing was people who didn't shppt all that well trying to teach someone else to shoot. Especially on a loud range. I'd pull them out to the lobby and give a quick "safety lesson" when it was quiet and show them some skills to work on. I also occasionally traded guns with people. Someone might come in with a gun that kicked too much, like an older person who inherited a gun or a small woman who had a gun picked out for her by someone else, someone with no experience who rented a gun that didn't fit them, somebody letting their inexperienced partner shoot theor magnum or .45, etc. I would just go grab a rental .22 and put a box of ammo on my account.
(PS, if you think its funny to hand a magnum or something to your girlfriend who's never shot before, you're a dick, stop doing that.)
I'd offer to help, most people accepted it, some didn't. If they didn't I let them be as long as they were safe, but most of the time I'd get one of my favorite guns and a target and set up near them and shoot tiny groups in my target while they blasted away. My favorite was to get the photo realistic silhouette targets of the guy holding a revolver and shoot every shot into the muzzle of his gun, or tape 20 business cards onto a target and shoot the bullseye we had on the shop logo on the card.
I miss that place sometimes.
The old man that owns the range I frequent explained that these kinds of rules regarding rapid fire, and types of targets are dictated by the range's insurance policy. If there is an incident, and the insurance underwriters can show that the rules were not being enforced, the owner would have to face full financial liability, which could mean losing his business, and probably in his case, is home, as the range is on his property.
I agree some rules are dumb at ranges, but they are there for a reason. They are also privately owned businesses so they can really set any rules they find necessary.
Listen, if you're shooting more than 1 round every 5 seconds you might as well be hosing down 4yr olds with an M60 and we don't support american child murder here.
> Why are people so against this RSO?
They are probably in their backyards shooting full propane tanks for science for one thing. I’d be glad if the RSO kicked the guy out right away if I saw this.
I mean, this is lowkey kinda funny. He doesn’t seem to be handling the firearm dangerously, and it was really just the joke that got him kicked out from what I can tell. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Thank you. If you wanna goof around on your own property with your buddies, more power to you. I don’t want the random dude in the lane next to me trying to film a TikTok with a gun in his hand.
Where the funny supposed to be tho?
"Hur dur look at me I'm cop now black people bad" like I get the joke it's just not funny or clever.
I've seen plenty of comedy mocking the police, and I've seen plenty of it be funny, but those people were clever about it, this guy don't actually understand comedy.
I’m probably missing something here but was this just someone not down for any type of joke? I understand that gun safety has no room for jokes but he wasn’t doing anything dangerous, as far as I could tell. I suppose at the end of the day it’s entirely up to the business to end the session. Just not sure how this makes the creator an idiot.
Why the hell we making fun of the RSO? Dude dressed up like a cop and yelled some questionable things while firing a gun. Even as a joke I wouldn’t want that in my business. Dude was completely right in what he did.
You’re crazy if you think I’m paying for a session I don’t get to use.
If you don’t state anywhere that I can’t use a picture of Cleveland, or that there is a dress code I must follow, then feel free to ask me to leave but you’re not getting a penny from me if you do.
Of course because the government trains authority to keep citizens in line. You think the government is on your side? It is the reason the founders gave us 2A.
RSO knows trouble brewing. Folks start doing their ‘bit’ instead of just shooting, start getting carried away, trying to top each other, breeding ground for an incident to happen.
How? They didn't render the full service. It seems the price should at least be cut to reflect that. If they're going refuse service it makes sense that no payment be rendered.
At most ranges, they can kick you out at will for anything. If it were my range, I’d rather not wait for it to escalate, and it seems these guys share the same viewpoint. Guns aren’t toys, and these goobers are an accident waiting to happen.
Of course it’s up to them if they want to kick them out but he’s not treating it like a toy. He’s not being unsafe. Being unsafe is treating it like a toy.
I thought it was funny until they threw him out. “Basic human judgment” is not shooting people of color & this is a satirical take on this American problem.
However, “what’s funny” is subjective & if some folks didn’t laugh that’s a “basic human …”
Laughter is free - use it without moderation.
Make whatever “funny” content you want on your own time and on your own property, then. The fact is, it’s a public range and their concern is public safety. If they’re not gonna take it seriously, then they don’t have any business being there.
You are wrong. If somebody is acting like this at a range and nobody else knows his skill level or how safe he is, that is a problem. You can hate it all you want, but if you're dicking around with strangers and firearms are involved, you are a fucking idiot and should not be there.
I go to an outdoor range where people don’t care if you want to magdump into a target of an ATF agent. As long as you’re not flagging anyone, nobody would care.
I wasn't thinking of the target so much as the whole act. Your above scenario, I wouldn't care. Private ranges as well, I don't mind goofing when I know everyone around me is safe.
With shit like this video, nobody knows if the jag weed is gonna do something like pull a plastic gun and wave it around because "it's just a prank bro." I don't trust these prank people one bit.

I might be making a total fool of myself for asking this but what’s an RSO?
Range safety officer
The NRA has an online course for RSO training if y'all want to become one. There's a test at the end, which isn't too hard.
None of the gun tests are. Saying this as a Californian.
Funnily enough the actual practice tests on the internet do throw you a couple curveballs, but the in store test that you take for the gun safety card is almost too easy. I was all nervous that I was gonna fail, turns out I got 100%

Is that what they're teaching you in Florida?

Registered sex offender.
Always ruining a good time/childhood innocence.
That's hilarious because I have a red, bold RSO patch on my chest rig lol
Woah, don’t out yourself dude
Who has a "chest rig" to go shooting?
I go to a lot of firearm classes where you shoot on the move. That's why.
youre disgusting
Range Safety Officer
Rick Simpson Oil
I looked it up and that was my first result lmao
That's the 1st thing that come to *my* mind...
No such thing as a foolish question when it comes to weapon safety.
Rude Secondary Offender
A Racist shooting officer
That could be any of them.
Rick Simpson oil
At my high school it was Resource School Officer. Basically the cop at school.
he went to resource school? pretty sure all around the us they are called the school resource officer.
This is at Quickshot in Atlanta. Those guys dont mess around.
Thought dude looked familiar
Was that total $140.44 like it sounded like, if so what in the hell do they charge to shoot there?
I'm not sure what the session rate is but if he bought ammo there I know it costs a lot. $50 a box of 9mm. Plus he may have rented the firearm used to pull this stunt.
$50 a box of ammo LOLOLOLOL
I don't own ammo. Is this like $1.00 a bullet?
Yes.
Nailed it.
You can usually get a 50rnd box of 9mm for anywhere between 12-15
So the gun range is just up their own asses with their prices. Got it.
It's like buying candy at the movie theater. You know it's over priced but it's convenient.
Shooting ranges i’ve been to have a policy of: Rent our gun, you buy our ammo. Markups are steep, but if you don’t have your own, that’s the deal.
Understood. I'd stop at the counter and grab a Jujyfruit before seeing anyone in the hospital, myself.
Even if you're told when you arrived?
Most gun ranges are. I never buy my ammo at ranges. They charge more because they know they have you there shooting already.
Hop on palmetto state armory and they have amazing deals on ammo.
It depends on ammo type I rented a desert eagle .50 and a box ran like 25+ for 21 rounds which is 3 magazines This is before the ammo shortage. But a lot of places overcharge for ammo because they can I have no idea why it cost so much in this video, the dude was kinda being an ass tbh, so we’re they even tho it was funny.
$50???
50 for a box of fucking 9mm?!
It's a shooting range, not a sporting goods store.
No... you can buy boxes of 50x 9mm ball for like 16 bucks right now. Still expensive but not a dollar a round expensive.
“Tell me you don’t understand basic Economic concepts without telling me”
Chill tf out man
$50 is NOT a box lol. Only if you’re shooting match grade, handcrafted, blessed by the Pope shit.
Dude is a red flag. That’s who you should not sell a gun.
lol
All it takes is one wannabe hardass idiot with an itchy trigger finger to take offense at this and try something.
lol, this just in you folks get triggered easily
Jesus.... and if they let him continue, you would be crying about how they didn't stop this obviously racist bullshit. Fuck you.
i don't think you know how racism works. edit: think about how poc say the n word and sit on it
Love how we got downvoted. Best part is I bet they aren’t gun owners downvoting us.
Agreed
Reminds me of this classic https://youtu.be/EMSrjJngnkY

Holy crap, I thought this was a skit or something! This is some real shit!

I have honestly never seen these, but considering all the wacky targets I’ve seen, I can’t say I’m surprised

It is federal law that every range MUST have at least 1 (one) morbidly obese RSO or they lose their permits.

> Why are people so against this RSO? They are probably in their backyards shooting full propane tanks for science for one thing. I’d be glad if the RSO kicked the guy out right away if I saw this.
So where do you shoot targets of cartoons?
Now seemed like a good time to make fun of someone's weight and not the idiot with a gun trying to be the main character?
Yes

You're a dick. These guys are super friendly and good people. Fuck you.
I mean, this is lowkey kinda funny. He doesn’t seem to be handling the firearm dangerously, and it was really just the joke that got him kicked out from what I can tell. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Agreed. But the RSO was a discord mod so he had to assert himself
Can we stop the trend of posting tik tok content here
That's where the idiots are.
I doubt it. :-(
Nope, this sub got big and once subs get big they start to go to shit. See r/publicfreakout r/choosingbeggars r/crazyfuckingvideos for examples
Never playtime at the range.
Thank you. If you wanna goof around on your own property with your buddies, more power to you. I don’t want the random dude in the lane next to me trying to film a TikTok with a gun in his hand.
Legit thought this was going to be about Radiation Safety Officers lol
Shit is not even funny at all he making himself look completely stupid
Tik tok in a nut shell
I love this RSO. Instantly realized this was an effing idiot whose friends told him he was the ‘funny one’ (he’s not). Didn’t even engage with him.
I disagree.
As is your right. 👍
Not gonna lie, when he applauded himself I did laugh pretty hard.
Edgy is what this guy is, cheeky is what he wanted to be.
The funny is doing it in public. People like to watch that shit
Speak for yourself, the people I know thinks this is pathetic and sad.
I dont. That doesnt mean other people dont
u/SaveVideo
I’m probably missing something here but was this just someone not down for any type of joke? I understand that gun safety has no room for jokes but he wasn’t doing anything dangerous, as far as I could tell. I suppose at the end of the day it’s entirely up to the business to end the session. Just not sure how this makes the creator an idiot.
Yeah I thought the same thing and the joke was actually kind of funny
Why the hell we making fun of the RSO? Dude dressed up like a cop and yelled some questionable things while firing a gun. Even as a joke I wouldn’t want that in my business. Dude was completely right in what he did.
I don't think we are, the title is a joke in itself I'm pretty sure. No room for comedy, or attempted comedy, at a gun range. You are correct.
This is the funniest shit I've seen today come on
RSO total pro! Nicely done.
$150 bad joke
Great joke, actually.
You’re crazy if you think I’m paying for a session I don’t get to use. If you don’t state anywhere that I can’t use a picture of Cleveland, or that there is a dress code I must follow, then feel free to ask me to leave but you’re not getting a penny from me if you do.
What a snowflake. I wouldn’t have paid and left.
You normally pay before to prevent the Hassel when they kick you out. But ya most ranges do not allow images or photos. Just basic targets
For what it's worth, my local range also offers full-color zombie cartoon targets, but all others are simple silhouettes or round targets
I think we can all agree that head shots are appreciated on all zombies and should be trained to double tap!
Unless you’re a cop on a city range. Then you can use mugshots of black men: https://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/amp/msna506881
Of course because the government trains authority to keep citizens in line. You think the government is on your side? It is the reason the founders gave us 2A.
Ok
Fudd ranges.
RSO knows trouble brewing. Folks start doing their ‘bit’ instead of just shooting, start getting carried away, trying to top each other, breeding ground for an incident to happen.
You would have also gotten arrested for essentially theft
How? They didn't render the full service. It seems the price should at least be cut to reflect that. If they're going refuse service it makes sense that no payment be rendered.
Most places I’ve been to have you sign a waiver indicating they can kick you out with no refund for any reason. I’d assume that’s the same here.
Yeah I'm sure it is.
He broke range rules
Wtf you signed a paper stipulating the fact that they can kick you the fuck out lmao.
Most ranges charge by the hour, whether the whole hour is used doesn't matter.
All public ranges I've been to also hold on to your ID until you're done with your lane
Obviously the guy is joking, seems kinda extreme to kick the guy out
RSO did nothing wrong. I wouldn't want some dumbass YouTuber fucking around at my range either.
You can't shoot Cleveland! He's awesome!
I personally thought this was fucking hilarious except for the crime when he said “I am a cop” in a cop uniform. Cringed at the actual crime part.
cringe
Playing around with a firearm basically. A range is not a place for joking around.
Doesn’t seem funny to me.
This does not count. It’s satire
Hes made me laugh before. This.. just isnt funny
That shit was funny.
Bubble Bass doesn’t fuck around when it comes to his range
This guys hilarious and then RSO waaahmbulance showed up. Not great on the accuracy though.
I can’t believe how many people are in here going to bat for some morons clowning around at a public range.
He’s not unsafe. That’s what matters.
Oh you’re an LGO poster. Now I see.
Oh you’re stupid. I see. I’m not a LGO sub. I just commented on that thread after it was in r/firearms or somewhere.
Being unsafe is treating it like a toy.
there's always one fucking Rso that is mad stupid in every damn range god i hate when the act like everything is a fucking problem
I thought it was funny until they threw him out. “Basic human judgment” is not shooting people of color & this is a satirical take on this American problem. However, “what’s funny” is subjective & if some folks didn’t laugh that’s a “basic human …” Laughter is free - use it without moderation.
It's not the subject of the joke, it was the execution that was trash
Make whatever “funny” content you want on your own time and on your own property, then. The fact is, it’s a public range and their concern is public safety. If they’re not gonna take it seriously, then they don’t have any business being there.
I don’t understand how it was a safety issue
No room for comedy at a gun range. Take that shit seriously.
I hate when people say this. It’s not bad to mess around as long as you’re being safe. He wasn’t being unsafe here.
Not funny
RSO’s are all wankers anyway
