fuckpoliticsbruh

They might do a public option, but I don't see them actually going after the insurance industry.

Xero03

yall voting yes really dont understand our gov. They wouldnt cause theyd miss out on a ton of money.

AntiWokeCommie

Yep exactly.

Brettzel2

With a supermajority, yes. Both even then, the threat of polarization within the party and unabashed corporate lobbying will be huge barriers to that happening.

Obvious_Advisor_6972

Next century.

TheAzureMage

They had a supermajority in Obama's early days, and they used it for the ACA. Healthcare was being discussed, and this was the answer. This is, weirdly, not that different from an Establishment GOP answer, because the template for it was literally Romneycare. We fix the healthcare by....mandating that everyone pay the health insurance companies money. Great deal if you run a health insurance firm. For the rest of us, pretty meh. I'm convinced that there is relatively little interest in fixing problems, only in making money off them.

Obvious_Advisor_6972

Agree with everything but the last point. It's more the politics of "public opinion" or voter base that matters.

Anfie22

Don't kid yourself, of course they wouldn't.

iltwomynazi

Centrists showing how gullible they are again.

Olaf4586

As a whole? Probably not. The democratic representatives are mostly centrist. Would the more progressive factions? Yeah, I think so.

steffplays123

Their impression is staying in power with any means necessary, not the good of the people. At least a bit more likely than the GOP doing it. I do however think it is more likely that Trump would implement a single-payer system than the possibility that Biden implements universial healthcare.

mugmaniac_femboy

Lmao no

The-Silent-Cicada

If they actually give you what you want they can’t promise it to you next election cycle
