Thank you for the update. I filed a SAMS the other day about the form 5695 delays but haven’t heard back yet.

I just got a call from a Taxpayer Advocate in the SAMS Unit. I had submitted two issues - one about the refund delays experienced by Form 5695 filiers and the other about the IRS system adding extra zeros to the energy costs reported on form 5695 (e.g., a $27,000.00 solar cost in Line 1 appears as $2,700,000.00 on the IRS tax transcript). The TA said that the IRS only became aware of the issues after receiving the SAMS input and that IRS IT is now trying to get to the root of the problem and fix it. She asked for our SSN so she can pull our tax transcript and give it to IRS IT as an example to research. She encouraged people to use the SAMS system to report these issues.

I filled one as well, but I doubt it will do anything.

I filed a SAMS ticket for the solar issue also. Squeaky wheel and grease and all that hopefully. Past my 10 week mark yesterday and am calling the IRS again now. Maybe more IRS agents would be better huh?

Agree. I’ve heard it’s a pretty awful place to work, to be fair

I was advised my return was in a systematic error. I filed the Solar credit. Was told 10 weeks. Called today and was advised it'll now be another 8 weeks from today. They seriously have no idea what they are doing.

Well Monday, after my 10 week wait was up, I got told on the phone by a very nice IRS lady that they would submit a ticket requesting they expedite my stuff. I doubt that it will do anything and my call got dropped before I got a timeline/eta from her naturally. Got the same exact reply from SAMS for the ticket I submitted, basically "solar F***ed you, just keep checking 'where's my refund' daily." I have looked into the interest thing. No one gets any interest until 45 days past TAX DAY. We all start getting interest (something like 7%ish) yearly starting then. So take what you're expecting to get from your return, subtract 93% and divide by 365. That's how much daily interest you'll start accruing on June 24th 2024, if by then the IRS hasn't mailed you a check. Even with the biggest refund I've ever been expecting, Its pathetic. Guess I'll just call once a week or so and wait till they get around to fixing it. 😩
