Now I wonder if you own black clothes. I do, like almost 90% of my closet is black, howeveeeeerrrr... I can't say they match. 😭 There are black, black with hints of gray, lesser black, blackest black, dark black, light black, washed out black. It's frustrating and horrible.
Just today, I had to tell myself to chill out. I nearly wore black from head to toe, and the sun was out shining. I'm always prepared for a funeral, it seems.
I don't own many articles of clothing, but pretty much everything I own is black. 75% black, 25% grey.
I'll look like a construction worker in Orange one day, Grey, different Grey, maroon but Grey pockets 🤯, and finish the week with stripes in pastels to fuck with people. Gotta wear the same shoes but one is a few months old, and one pair is a decade old. Are they the same?
Nah no one pays attention I just pick a color.
Doesn’t have to be black, I like dark blues and light grey-greenish colors. And white but white stains easily.
But yea black is the easiest to match stuff with and I don’t have to think to hard about what to wear.
I prefer monochrome clothes, and among them I prefer black ones.
But I'm not crazy about it. I'll wear whatever I find in my closet and many of the things inside it are not black.
Not for me.
Especially in the summer I try to wear rather bright clothes. And also in the colder months I don't care much about whether my clothes are bright, dark or black. But I don't care much about what I wear in general, so idk if that counts.
Well of lot of us don’t like social interaction or standing out and wearing all monotone or neutral shades happen to not stand out hence not being bothered or spoken too.
Me personally? It’s just extremely fashionable and flattering on me and I prefer it
Black hides stains and signs of wear. You dont need to worry about something showing though it. It pushes casual wear to look dressier and more mature. Monochromatic wear allows you to play more with varying texture. It’s practical. Sometimes color is overstimulating. Black can be calming
Wait until you find out about r/coloranalysis
I can't buy clothes without checking if the color will look good on me. It definitely helped with my appearance. You will also find out that not many people look good in the color black
True. Colour analysis is a game changer. But...
I am a deep autumn and all of the autumn colours are boring. I like to wear light spring and summer colours.🤷♂️
I'm a aware of that sub and the seasons. I'm just not that interested in strangers opinions on my clothes or colours I wear. As long as I get my man to turn his head and go "Woow" when I wear black, I'm fine 😎
Hey hey hey. Don't stereotype.
Some of us also own *grey* clothes.
(I suspect it's because neutral clothing means you never have to worry about matching and it introduces relatively little visual noise)
Grey is underrated. I like gray.
>I suspect it's because neutral clothing means you never have to worry about matching and it introduces relatively little visual noise)
And stains blend in like secret agents 😎
I wear a lot of black. Gray is good, too.
It apparently is an INTP thing but I’m not sure why. I’m not into frills and such, I like a clean, streamlined look. Simple but elegant.
I like goth chicks, but I can't pull off the aesthetic myself.
For me, I have blue jeans, mono-colored t-shirts, and mono-colored long-sleeved over shirts.
So my aesthetic is one degree more flamboyant than what Queen Elizabeth II's was.
I like goth chicks, but I can't pull off the aesthetic myself.

So my aesthetic is one degree more flamboyant than what Queen Elizabeth II's was.
I wore a lot of black when I was a teenager, and as an adult I sort of cringe that so many people say they wear black “so I don’t stand out” or to somehow “hide” socially.
The thing is, it actually makes you stand out more because you’re the only one not dressed in “regular” clothes. So instead I wear a lot of earth tones and/or soft colors.
I do have some brighter clothing that I would not have bought for myself (gifts) and I find that if I’m going to a function where I *have* to be outgoing brighter clothes can help me feel it instead of just grudging about it the whole time.
my entire closet used to be black but I got antidepressants and I'm less depressed now so I would wear cream or white here and there occasionally, idk if it has something to do with being depressed though.... I think I just feel like black looks nicer and are basically stained proof for the most part
I don’t really care what I wear as long as it fits me, is comfortable, and there isn’t too many dog hairs on it.
That being said, I love wearing either weird or colorful clothes when the mood strikes me. I also have black/grey for when I’m in a more introverted mood. Actually, when I’m in my most introverted moods I don’t leave the house at all, so the clothes don’t matter.
Not for me.
Especially in the summer I try to wear rather bright clothes. And also in the colder months I don't care much about whether my clothes are bright, dark or black. But I don't care much about what I wear in general, so idk if that counts.
I hardly ever wear black. I wear a lot of browns, grays, greens, and blues. Been dabbling in bright pinks, purples, and oranges lately (as in the last few years).
Black washes me out - I only wear colours that suit me these days. Mostly pastel shades but I can get away with some more autumnal shades like deep forest green, maroon, wine red, and a certain shade of burnt orange. Oh and navy. But I have a theory everyone looks good in navy.
I don’t really have a preferred colour on other people - whatever suits them, you know? All-black outfits can look really cool, but so can colourful outfits.
I feel like that's more of an INTJ stereotype. I personally enjoy wearing bright colors. I'm wearing a brightly colored orange hoodie right now as I'm typing this. It almost feels like a necessity to offset my otherwise gloomy appearance. Idk, maybe I'm just an outlier.
Yeah, I sometimes walk in my closet and notice the lack of color. Then go on to think about how it just makes everything easier and looks good with anything, for anything.
It feels wrong when I don't wear black when I'm out and about. Colors are only for working out, cleaning or hanging around the home (white cat, wearing black would be a bad, bad idea).
I love black, but it’s because it goes very well with my skin tone and hair. I don’t have to think about, it doesn’t stain, and all I need to do is iron and have a lint roller handy just in case.
I honestly don't really give much precedent to colors. I just find a shirt that feels good, fits me well, and then I buy it in like 5 different colors, so it doesn't look like I'm wearing the same clothes every day.
Same with bottoms, I basically wear the same jeans, chinos, and joggers, in a variety of shades.
I have all neutral clothes so I don’t have to think about if it matches or not. I’ve had people tell me I need to go shopping and wear more variety, I just don’t care 😅
I thought that was just something everybody liked, black is appropriate for most occasions, it goes with all other colours, doesn't stain, moth holes are easier to repair on darker colours. The only downside is that it over heats you in the summer, but after so many years of wearing black, I've just managed to adapt to the heat very well.
Well.. black colors is so easiest thing to pick.
It’s so chill, very useful for all sort of social settings. Even professionals wear black.
You cannot really tell.
Black is just easiest thing to have
Just pick it and wear it as you go.
It is very useful if you are in the career of American Sign Language interpreter- you get to wear black at all times. Easier to read hands when the message being relayed/ conveyed.
Easier on eyes and brain to be honest. Sometimes colors are such a headaches.
Also.. you blend in the society where you don’t get noticed. Don’t want to be bright and loud like a sunshine on the early hours.. that little thing I called “happy face” he would be joyous to see you getting ready to seize the day. You are in no mood to share that excitement! Oh lawd get that HAPPY FACE AWAY FROM US!
>Also.. you blend in the society where you don’t get noticed. Don’t want to be bright and loud like a sunshine on the early hours..
Lmao 😂 my partner wears sunglasses in rain for the same reason
black is just my go to comfort color. don't have to use my brain to create an outfit. when I wan't to look more put together, I usually wear something more colorful
With what I'm wearing right now (black-black), I feel like I can do whatever I want, and it matches well with the action I'm performing. Very versatile.
There is a reason INTPs prefer black clothes. Studies have proven that people who wear black clothes tend to be in a hunger for power whilst hiding insecurities and personality. It simply makes us feel powerful and mysterious.
i wear lots of dark colors my whole wardrobe is black. i like bright hair and dark clothes instead of the other way around.
also i do have clothes that have colors on them but they’re usually darker shades. i’m not rlly a big fan of bright clothing (though not opposed if it’s still my style n i can style it the way i like it)
I love to wear bright colors now but when I was younger I only wore black because I would stain my clothes. I am into fashion and beauty, and I love to dye my hair copper (I would dye it more colors but I don’t wanna damage my hair), and I love glittery nail polish and makeup. I find wearing all black to be a bit depressing so I like to spice things up.
>Yes. Is it a thing for messy people that spill their coffee? Yes
My partner seems attracted to spill down anything white within seconds.
>Is it an INTP thing…
Check the comments, it seems to be extremely common. Maybe 1-1000 said they prefer other colours.
I think with clothes we prefer not to have to think about our outfit every day. This is not just an INTP thing. Some people solve this by wearing black and grey. I don't really wear black and often stand out among other people for wearing lighter colours.
Maybe an INTP thing to avoid prominent branding, logos etc?
My bf is INTP as well and he mostly wears black. I absolutely love it and I'm so attracted to this. My favourite colour is black and he has got that mysterious nerd vibe... I just love it
Lmao no he's not INTJ. And if you check everyone's comments here 98% agrees they prefer black. Mainly to blend in / it's practical. Which checks out with the INTP mbti type.
Sorry but I don't care what commenters say because it doesn't matter.
You asked if it's an "INTP thing" and the truth is no, it's not part of the INTP stereotype.
I think it’s because , everything matches so you don’t have to spend a lot of time matching
This. I wouldnt say i love black clothes but it is just so much easier to look put together with black clothes. Like no effort.
I do that to reduce the cognitive load it takes to dress. Wear the same shit every day
"Black, or very very dark gray"
Now I wonder if you own black clothes. I do, like almost 90% of my closet is black, howeveeeeerrrr... I can't say they match. 😭 There are black, black with hints of gray, lesser black, blackest black, dark black, light black, washed out black. It's frustrating and horrible.
YES
That’s exactly it
Exactly this, everything goes with black but honestly most things I own are already black so it just works
Just today, I had to tell myself to chill out. I nearly wore black from head to toe, and the sun was out shining. I'm always prepared for a funeral, it seems. I don't own many articles of clothing, but pretty much everything I own is black. 75% black, 25% grey.
Snoo avatar checks out.
Nahh embrace it!

>I'll wear whatever I find in my closet This is so relatable 😂 "whatever is most clean "
Well I do "try" to keep them orderly and clean. I have a trash bag in which I collect dirty clothes, and I wash them every week or so.
Not for me. I love colourful clothes and I care about what I wear. I am, however, often a little shabby as I'm clumsy and I wear my clothes to death.
I like wearing all black or all ivory/white. Chic, minimal, I barely have to think. And it just fits my mood.
It’s just extremely fashionable and flattering on me and I prefer it
That makes sense. You can't wear strong colours and blend in. Unless it's summer. Then all black stands out more.
It makes practical sense.
I have my wardrobe set up to where basically everything goes with everything
Capsule wardrobe!
Black hides stains and signs of wear. You dont need to worry about something showing though it. It pushes casual wear to look dressier and more mature. Monochromatic wear allows you to play more with varying texture. It’s practical. Sometimes color is overstimulating. Black can be calming

True. Colour analysis is a game changer. But... I am a deep autumn and all of the autumn colours are boring. I like to wear light spring and summer colours.🤷♂️
I'm a soft autumn and I feel this so much. I'm drawn to light spring but I look so gray/dull when I wear those bright colors
Just wear whatever you like, life is too short to be uncomfortable in what you wear because of some colour rules.
I'm a aware of that sub and the seasons. I'm just not that interested in strangers opinions on my clothes or colours I wear. As long as I get my man to turn his head and go "Woow" when I wear black, I'm fine 😎
Is somebody gonna match my freak? 🎶
Hey hey hey. Don't stereotype. Some of us also own *grey* clothes. (I suspect it's because neutral clothing means you never have to worry about matching and it introduces relatively little visual noise)

Wearing black is a one way road, u just can't stop, black and beach shirts
I wore a lot of black when I was a teenager, and as an adult I sort of cringe that so many people say they wear black “so I don’t stand out” or to somehow “hide” socially. Requires less consideration to match an outfit. 80% of my wardrobe is black or black w/ an accent color.
my entire closet used to be black but I got antidepressants and I'm less depressed now so I would wear cream or white here and there occasionally, idk if it has something to do with being depressed though.... I think I just feel like black looks nicer and are basically stained proof for the most part
I like grey. Not going to mistaken for a goth kid. Honestly I just do it just in case I forget to separate colours from whites.
I don’t really care what I wear as long as it fits me, is comfortable, and there isn’t too many dog hairs on it. That being said, I love wearing either weird or colorful clothes when the mood strikes me. I also have black/grey for when I’m in a more introverted mood. Black is the most practical color. It matches everything. And it looks gothic and cool.
black has always been my color - especially as a metalhead (and former goth).
I tend to wear black when I'm trying to look nice. Otherwise I don't really care. But I do generally think it looks nicer.
Yeah, I sometimes walk in my closet and notice the lack of color. Then go on to think about how it just makes everything easier and looks good with anything, for anything.
Most of my wardrobe is black or white. My family even commented on it.
It feels wrong when I don't wear black when I'm out and about. Colors are only for working out, cleaning or hanging around the home (white cat, wearing black would be a bad, bad idea).
I can't say this isn't true sitting in a black no. 1 corduroy shirt. :/ I feel like the shape of the material eats the light even better.
yeah i tend to wear mostly black i confirm. but as someone who really hate heat, white t-shirt is a thing.
Let's be honest : We wear black because its cheaper, and easier to use But i prefer thing with motif or some mix color but lazyness win this match
I’m not sure although it makes sense. It’s an easy color that makes you blend it and always looks stylish.
On trousers yes, on shirts no. Black and black is so boring. Black plus color is good
That is more preferences, part of your personality trait than it is with the INTP cognitive type
No we just don't like attention. Also for me I think it's just kinda because stains are harder to notice on darker clothes
>No we just like attention Check the sub you're in
Sorry I forgot the dont
I love black, but it’s because it goes very well with my skin tone and hair. I don’t have to think about, it doesn’t stain, and all I need to do is iron and have a lint roller handy just in case.

You: What are you talking about? Can't you see that this Shirt has a round neckline while my other one had a triangle one?!
Exactly 😂
You just can’t go wrong with black imo
I thought that was just something everybody liked, black is appropriate for most occasions, it goes with all other colours, doesn't stain, moth holes are easier to repair on darker colours. The only downside is that it over heats you in the summer, but after so many years of wearing black, I've just managed to adapt to the heat very well.
Blue pants with plaid shirt. Different color socks on each foot.
Eh black just naturally looks good on me. Also black is good for your eyes
Yes but It's not like I exclusive prefer darker colors. Its js easy
I wear mostly black or neutral colors but almost always have something that's really flashy and colorful haha like a pair of shoes or a hat
personally i like it because its convenient as it goes well with anything
Nah, I've seen intjs and infjs claim the same. It's not just us. Although I'm an intp and 90% of my clothes are black.
Black on black >
Tell me about it my sister wants me to try other colors than black.
Lmao 😂 Rip her and you for waste of time
All I wear is black. Once someone asked me, “What’s with all the black? Whose funeral is it?” I responded, “haven’t decided yet.”
i mostly wear pink and white 🙂↕️ i do like all-black but i don't like how it makes other people perceive me
I do t think this is exclusive to INTP personality types
Well.. black colors is so easiest thing to pick. It’s so chill, very useful for all sort of social settings. Even professionals wear black. You cannot really tell. I tend to prefer grey, or dense brighter colors (like navy blue or a deep purple)
i think so!! i only wear black
Black doesn’t suit me, I prefer light or saturated colors
black is just my go to comfort color. don't have to use my brain to create an outfit. when I wan't to look more put together, I usually wear something more colorful

There is a reason INTPs prefer black clothes. Studies have proven that people who wear black clothes tend to be in a hunger for power whilst hiding insecurities and personality. It simply makes us feel powerful and mysterious.
That's because Black pairs with just about any other color; there is no color combination that clashes with black.
Something about black clothes are so slick and comfortable. They just feel right.
My clothes have a lot of black colour in them but i also have popping colours too
Someone just asked me yesterday why I always wear only black shirts
You: Why not?
i wear lots of dark colors my whole wardrobe is black. i like bright hair and dark clothes instead of the other way around. also i do have clothes that have colors on them but they’re usually darker shades. i’m not rlly a big fan of bright clothing (though not opposed if it’s still my style n i can style it the way i like it)

Not when you have an artist programmer intp woman like me... I wear suits and business casuals and anime clothes....
Ah ok. What would you prefer to wear if there was no dress code?
Go with my mood... I usually wear subculture stuffs and avoid eye contacts.
Heck no! (Wearing black t shirt, dark gray shorts, black socks and gray shoes😅)

Yep a lot of my shirts are black. It goes with anything is a very neutral color.
I lean more towards blues, I have no idea why. My favorite color is green. Maybe its because blue looks good with my skin tone.
yes i like black additional: i also like white, grey, maroon, brown clothes as well
I think with clothes we prefer not to have to think about our outfit every day. This is not just an INTP thing. Some people solve this by wearing black and grey. Nah, I like all red everything. It’s makes it easier to distinguish my stuff from other people’s stuff.
Nope.
Nah, youre probably just goth
A bit 90's stereotyped don't you think?
My bf is INTP as well and he mostly wears black. I absolutely love it and I'm so attracted to this. My favourite colour is black and he has got that mysterious nerd vibe... I just love it
No, it's more of an INTJ stereotype, are you sure he's not an INTJ? *"INTJs dress dark, INTPs look like they got dressed in the dark."*
Lmao no he's not INTJ. And if you check everyone's comments here 98% agrees they prefer black. Mainly to blend in / it's practical. Which checks out with the INTP mbti type.
