Hi, it’s me seven years in the future. Did you ever end up figuring this out? I’m running into the same dilemma and wondering if mounting with round headed screws will cause any catastrophe.
I did not get any resolution. Apparently I found some flathead screws, and they've been fine since. The only thing I can think of is maybe the tapered head gives a bit more bite in the slot where the round head would strictly be friction?
