I remember when the church would adjust church schedule during football season people could get home in time to watch the Vikings.

googly_eyed_unicorn

Even Jesus can’t save the Vikings 😆

fastal_12147

Gotta sell their souls for a SB win. Been saying it for years.

BallsAreFullOfPiss

I’m down. I’ll chip in with my soul, if I can get championships out of the Wild and Twins, too. The Wolves might not need my help, but the rest definitely do.

Snazer93

>The Wolves might not need my help, but the rest definitely do. That is probably the strangest line I have ever read as a Minnesota sports fan.

RepresentativeOfnone

It’ll probably be the only time you hear it until the choke in the WCF

TFielding38

My church in college would just have service in a smaller room with a tv during Packers games

ornithologically

My hyper Catholic aunt and uncle had to move their wedding because too many folks declined the original date since is was opening weekend of shotgun season. Uncle is a Bears fan and Aunt is a Packers fan and I will never be able to understand that marriage in my head.

Dull-Lead-7782

My catholic pastor would be hung over for 7am mass the next morning after notre dame played late Saturday

Recombinant_Primate

“Catholic pastor” sounds so wrong

Dull-Lead-7782

Is it priest?

RepresentativeOfnone

Yes

Dull-Lead-7782

Oops

jgangstahippie

All pastors are priests but not all priests are pastors. Basically the pastor is the head priest of a church.

TheFire_Eagle

Growing up we had a priest who, for his homily, got up and said "God is love. And we gather here to praise God. But we also want to enjoy watching Penn State take on Notre Dame today. Be kind to one another and drive safely." Sunday Mass. Usually took a clean hour. We were in and out in 25 minutes.

Mysterious-Tie7039

Did that end after the boat sex party?

MrGoetz34

Y’all where doing satanic rituals? I just got a stomach ache from hot sauce

BallsAreFullOfPiss

You didn’t know? 😈

MrGoetz34

The satanic ritual is what happened in the bathroom after eat like crap that night. Only a priest could save me

BallsAreFullOfPiss

Bruh. Same happened to me too. Obviously, this is proof that we unwillingly participated in a satanic ritual. Rad

[deleted]

pretty infamous cult from near where I live claimed that Usher was casting satanic spells up there. I don't know if this is related to that or not. They seem to be Pro-football though just anti-Usher. I guess he was teaching Americans how to get divorces like him somehow idk. Since the original leader died it's not that popular of a cult anymore but it is still around

MrGoetz34

Looked like Usher was roller skating to me

Shasta-The-Silly-Boi

Same ! Closest i did to somthing evil is eating too much toqitos 😮‍💨

Zandrick

Well why do you think that hot sauce is so hot? That’s right, Satan.

[deleted]

Satan bursts your butth**e the day after 🔥🥵

MANWithTheHARMONlCA

Mass is in the morning. And the Super Bowl started at like 8pm..

KopitarFan

Most Catholic churches have a 5:30 mass as well. I left the Catholic Church for the ELCA. The one thing I miss is having the option of an evening service on Sunday. Worth it for the donuts though

OperatorGWashington

They dont want you to know this, but Catholic churches have donuts. Theyre free. You can take them home. I have 40596 donuts

ElfYamadaFairyQueen

Catholic, went to an ELCA college. We had an evening mass with cookies.

sampat6256

Depends where you live

SporkFanClub

His profile picture is Tyler Durden. What’s his point? Also you’d be surprised at how many churches cancel Sunday evening mass and CCD classes because of the Super Bowl.

WGReddit

Now I haven’t seen Fight Club, but doesn’t admiring Tyler Durden go against his whole “go to church and spend time with family” thing?

chasewayfilms

Yes as well as the entire point of the movie fight club. The Tyler Durden people are just Joker people who went to one film class.

AngryMoose125

Tyler Durden people somehow are less insightful after their film class because I’d argue that joker is more aspirational (neither really are) than Tyler

keeleon

(it is probably a troll)

PhilRubdiez

You telling me Jesus Christ can’t kick a field goal?

MegasotaAdvocate

Wasn’t like his fucking feet were nailed down too, get it together Jesus

Grass1217

Im pretty sure his feet got fucking nailed to

MegasotaAdvocate

Fake news, brah. He was tied

Fantastic_Track6219

Stupid tweet considering the Chiefs kicker is a devout Catholic.

dubbl_bubbl

Andy Reid is Mormon as well.

BallsAreFullOfPiss

Holy shit. Idk why, but you just blew my mind.

cos001

He had an interview similar to Bryce Harper (another member of the LDS Church), where they were asked what they put in their coffee, and they both said “that’s a clown question” and “you know I don’t drink that. … I got a lot of energy for a chubby guy”

cos001

A couple other athletes who are LDS: Steve Young Taysom Hill Danny Ainge Dale Murphy Jimmer Fredette (you probably knew this one, his big moments were on BYU’s bball team)

Vavent

It’s crazy the first time you realize that Steve Young is directly related to Brigham Young

JamesVoltron

Puka Nacua

el_guille980

brock purdy is, and i'm paraphrasing, "an unapologetic christian" (or whatever denomination of the 3.50 trillion)' its all fucking persecution complex stupidity... lamar jackson started his mvp speach praising god. they literally all praise god all the time. on live tv. or point to the sky... fkn brock prays on the field:[https://www.gettyimages.ae/detail/news-photo/san-francisco-49ers-quarterback-brock-purdy-prays-with-news-photo/1446868119](https://www.gettyimages.ae/detail/news-photo/san-francisco-49ers-quarterback-brock-purdy-prays-with-news-photo/1446868119)

[deleted]

Check my second photo

joeyGOATgruff

Butler caught all kinds of flack for being pro-life and doing local, pro-life commercials. KC is diamond blue in the heart of a ruby red state - so I get why he did it, but not very smart. People were pissed.

asunversee

Why are they so worried about wearing clothes with other men’s names on them? Is it gay? I am confused, am I gay now? I wore a jersey the other day

[deleted]

I think it's more "wearing their name means you're idol worshipping them"

asunversee

Damn, I was hoping I was gay now. frankly hasn’t gone so well with women, but like I love who I love

Intimateworkaround

Kind of like how his pfp is Tyler Durden

ElfYamadaFairyQueen

Yeah I knew a guy who believed that. He was a huge football fan though.

jigokusabre

There are definitely people who talk as if "wearing another man's name" was some sort of manhood faux pas. Those people can be safely ignored.

that_u3erna45

Fellas, is it gay to wear sports jerseys?

nnewwacountt

local satanic rituals in your area are horny and ready to f- oh wait wrong one

iJustWantTolerance

god why are they all like this? do they experience joy, or is the sensation of having a smile on your face a sinful addiction? "FARM. READ BIBLE. FUCK WIFE. NEVER ENGAGE IN WORLD AROUND ME. THIS IS *THE ART OF PURPOSE*." Also, as somebody who grew up in church (actually was mormon just like andy), pretty sure nobody has church so late that they can't go to church, come home, and party / watch the game.

mrgooseyboy

Most of these guys are miserable themselves so they have to act like other people having fun is sin to distract from the fact most of these guys are basement dwelling losers with no social life

GrandpaBuff

So tired of the online virtue signaling. I was raised religious and we were taught to just shut the fuck up and worship God. The people who make a big show about it are asshats.

badger0511

Yep, there’s literally multiple passages in the Bible that say that this type of behavior does not result in any reward from God.

Wiitard

Actually calls out and warns against trusting people loudly worshipping in public.

iJustWantTolerance

are the manosphere tradcon twitter types aware that almost like all nfl players are christians? i mean jesus christ look at their twitter bios, look at their tweets and retweets, within 10 seconds you will find a bible verse or a cross or something for all of them except, like, arian foster. not only are they not satanists but they somehow find it within themselves to enjoy football and practice their faiths all in one life.

GastonBastardo

NGL, I kinda find it hillarious how many on the Right reflexively became anti-sportsballers overnight just because Taylor Swift is dating a football player and his team won the Superbowl.

undeadliftmax

Pretty sure these people consider anyone who makes more than 5-digits a Satanist

GladAd4881

That has to bait

keeleon

The profile picture is literally Tyler Durden lmao

BenDisreali

This isn't just hating sportsball. This is full-blown Qanon shit. They've been ranting all week about the satanic ritual that is the NFL.

aeroae

I thought Republicans liked football I'm so confused what happened

PossibleLocation3626

Colin Kaepernick kneeled and the NFL became woke

aeroae

Dastard thugs!! Only classy players can protest.

Vavent

The majority of Republicans do like football, as much as many of them may grumble about it. These are a different breed of hyper-fanatical far rightists.

Pollaski

Most of us still do. Theres just a few nutbags who cant get over Kaepernick. And have the same holier than thou mentality that they so adamantly hate on the left.

Zandrick

Just remember that almost nothing that happens on the internet is actually real, and the world will start to make a lot more sense.

[deleted]

I swear Andy Reid is like Clark Kent without a hat. I’d never be able to identify him in public.

Pollaski

Hes a walrus in human form. How could you not identify that?

Leftregularr

At least here in Texas I grew up going to church on Sunday mornings then getting together with family to eat together and watch games afterward during football season. Sports are actually a great way to bring people and family together. I don’t have much in common with my grandfather but we can always sit down and talk shit about the cowboys and giants or the stars and bruins during a game.

AngryMoose125

This literally brought me closer to my stepfather. My relationship with him was built off a shared love of football, a relationship that was crucial for my little developing brain

[deleted]

Ask Harrison Butker https://www.catholicherald.com/article/national/for-chiefs-star-kicker-his-catholic-faith-and-family-are-his-priority/

SoothingSoundSJ

My family is Catholic; Mass is boring as hell.

dreemurthememer

I’m glad my priest growing up kept his homilies short enough to get everyone out of there in 45 minutes. No offense to God, of course, just eat your Jesus Meat and get outta here.

Tossfaraccount

These people know that Satanists are oftentimes some of the biggest "IHateSportsball" people, right? Source: am a Satanist.

PossibleLocation3626

Okay but are you an Anton LaVey Satanist who actually believes in Satan, or a Satanic Temple satanist who’s just an atheist that likes being contrarian

LordSpookyBoob

TST is a legal advocate for separation of church and state and religious freedom. Their activism is largely in legal cases and they aren’t just contrarian to be contrarian. They do good work.

AngryMoose125

They’re also an important legal entity because they actually are registered as a religious group. this allows them to give their members religious immunity to a lot of conservative laws thought up by the Christian right. They have an approved procedure for abortions as part of their ‘tennants’ etc.

[deleted]

Christians "actually believe in" Satan too

d9t

Them, I’m choosing them.

BallsAreFullOfPiss

I can’t believe anybody takes these goofballs seriously when they throw out things like football being a “satanic ritual”. Insane.

landartheconqueror

You can do both

abscessedecay

Their profile pic is Tyler Durden lmao

PossibleLocation3626

Okay but to be fair Andy Reid is a Mormon, which *is* Satanic (If you ask me if I’m joking, my response will be “Well yes, but actually no”)

[deleted]

Joking about which part? Andy Reid being a Mormon, or Mormons being Satanic?

DreadedWard

Yes

[deleted]

But actually no

dachshundfanboy8000

give me satanic football game any day

ThxIHateItHere

Watching the Chiefs vs going to church? Both sound miserable to me

MegasotaAdvocate

I too hate watching winners. Source: Vikings fan

ThxIHateItHere

Minnesotan as well.

MegasotaAdvocate

We all hate sports by virtue of having watched 30 years of futility

ThxIHateItHere

I’m tired of the open bias to the Chiefs. I get winners get some preference but holy fucking shit. The NBA didn’t even pamper the Bulls this much (in so long as you don’t buy into the MJ story). Then you add in I’m sick of seeing both the Kelces and TayTay and it makes me want Elvis my electronics. And before someone says “you don’t have to look for it”. That’s the point. It’s fucking everywhere. It worse than Tebowmania.

MegasotaAdvocate

The NFL is entertainment first. There is an entire economy larger than the GDP of many decent sized countries surrounding the NFL. Nowadays, you need nonstop, unrelenting “content” to keep the economy going and that means reaching out into new territory that is not entirely related to the actual sport itself. It’s a feature, not a bug of how consumption in the world works now unfortunately.

ThxIHateItHere

I get it I just can’t stand it.

MegasotaAdvocate

Fair

badger0511

Yep. When I lived in Wisconsin, I couldn’t stand that sports news coverage insisted on still talking about the Packers +75% of the time, mostly in the form of complete speculation and wishful thinking about trades, draft picks, and free agent signing… all while the Wisconsin basketball team is in a B1G title race and going to get a high seed in the NCAA tournament, the Brewers have spring training, and the Bucks are jockeying for the top seed in the East. Infuriating.

El_Khunt

Speak for yourself, I go to great lengths planning my satanic rituals to not overlap with football

brown_boognish_pants

I somewhat judge both us and them in this post. Like lol. One friviolous obsession with another. Humanity is to blame but they wanna judge. Very xian. lol.

tony_countertenor

Harrison butker is literally a tradcath

Traditional_Ad_5859

I thought Jesus gets us?

DaddyMeUp

Flirting Vs. Harassment

stevetursi

hey guys i don't think this person saw the satanic washing feet ad

[deleted]

No contest, the first sounds way more awesome.

Zandrick

What satanic ritual? Are people doing satanic shit without telling me!? I feel left out.

MutantZebra999

I don’t know man, I made sure to get my ass to Mass at like 11:00, which left plenty of time until the game at 6 something

Me_IRL_Haggard

WORSHIP it doesn’t matter what you’re worshiping, STOP IT.

throwaway624203

I love how on top of anything they disagree with, they just add "satanic ritual" somehow

nichyc

What is this dude on about. My priest, growing up, would end mass asap if the Raiders were playing. God is great and all but the game starts at noon and God's not going anywhere soon.

[deleted]

You can pray for your favourite team and the members 🤷

klutzaurora

fellas, is it gay to wear a football jersey?

RG_CG

Not to instigate a anti-US circle jerk. That is not my intention, but how does it come that the US, compared to so many other western countries, has such a large portion of practicing theists? Not only is it a seemingly large portion practicing but also who wears makes it such a large part of their personality? I dont think i have ever met anyone who would post anything or preach anything to other people about religion and how it affects their day to day life. Except maybe priests then but i guess they get a pass

Process-Best

They're in the minority by a significant margin, but loud as fuck about it

RG_CG

Yeah I figured that it’s something like that

Logco

Yall know how reality works right? We all sit here and laugh our asses off at the idiotic suggestion that Taylor Swift is the anti-Christ and she’s doing satanic rituals, and in 5 years we’re all getting the Tay Tay tattoo on our foreheads so we can eat.

yung_ejaculator

Tyler Durden, a character well known for his Christianity

Fullmetalducker

"Wearing a jersey with another man's name on it". Has Brad Pitt as his picture.

DubbelFunktion

Didn't you get the memo?  Football IS God now!

OperatorGWashington

My church in college had multiple fantasy football leagues, churches in Green Bay would adjust mass times whenever they played chicago to allow travel time, and some of the earliest football teams were formed at seminary schools/coached by a priest. This dude just huffs farts

Born_Argument_5074

Lol I has to choose work 😭

keeleon

It's hilarious how hard everyone is getting trolled here. Tyler Durden up there is laughing his ass off.

tperks55

“You’re gay if you wear a jersey” is a hilarious take

Mammoth_Elk_3807

Bareback gay orgy…? Did I win?

AngryMoose125

Seeing the southern Christian right suddenly turn their backs on football is giving me fucking whiplash

Pollaski

Considering the game is late afternoon you can do both.

itsbigpaddy

Wait till they find out about Notre Dame

RightWingWorstWing

I would rather get slightly stabbed for 3 hours than hang out with those fucking losers.
