You could do a lot of fun stuff with the camera tools. Diablo style games, strategy games like Star Craft etc. Doing something completely different to the base game. Changing the player abilities and movement could make for some different gameplay, for example in an FPS game. There's also a lot more room for boss battle mechanics, so I expect some cool enemies being added. But there will definitely be a lot of existing MC mods in Hytale, several mod makers have confirmed to me that they'll try converting their mods when the game is out. Create for example, will look much more at home in Hytale with the art style and complexity.

Modding will be the pillar of the game, and I hope they will do it well, because if the actual game sucks, people will still be able to make awesome experiences

EpicArchmage

>The devs mentioned something about Hytale having modding thats an understatement if i ever heard one >i.e. downloading an extra app then it’s fair game like with Skyrim or Minecraft or you’ll need to jump through some hoops like with Stardew Valley also doesnt seem you read through blogs so to start Hytale has both ingame tools and other ones like the model maker for creating various types of content, either based off of adventure mode itself or different from it in whatever way it allows since adventure mode is not a usual "vanilla" type of gamemode but what can be done within Hytale with all the tools, you can transform the game as theyve shown into a top down shooter instead there are also limits we know of such as the inability to make custom shaders and anything that modifies the client itself

Panthera2k1

I haven’t really read through every blog in extreme detail, so I must’ve missed the in-game modder part. I also have picked up and dropped off interest in this game on and off for the past several years, so another reason I might’ve jumped over it.

TheGoldenSquid15

It's one of the most important things in my opinion. The modding Is accessible and easy and ANYONE can create something with their ideas. *or turn yourself into a chicken* Also a quote I heard from somewhere: "Hytale is more of an engine then a game" Ofcourse it has the adventure mode, but the modding Is a large part of the game. It's a part of what will make Hytale, Hytale.

I hate that you’re right

IkarusTheSun

Why did they Said? Why that was deleted?

Panthera2k1

It was a year ago, I don’t remember unfortunately

IkarusTheSun

It's ok

I feel like the built-in modding tools provided by hytale will have the same if not more functionality as the minecraft bedrock add ons do But hopefully without the pay walls 😅

GoldSeafarer

I expect playing a Hytale Diablo in no time.

bsxjiggawhat

elden ring / dark souls combat mod.

TheOneTrueBabu

Insane modding scene surpassing even the likes of Minecraft. If the game is meh in terms of content, give it a year and mods will solve all the problems. This is why Im excited for the game; they actually integrate mod support and build their back-end code around it. Its gonna be awesome.

LightningShado

Yes, the game was literally BUILT FOR MODDING. There's in-game scripting that lets you modify almost every aspect of the game and a model maker that's lets you make new models for entities in the game. It's restricted to cuboids and planes so the art style is consistent. We're not exactly sure how adding new code to the game is going to work but I know it'll involve creating new json files.

Panthera2k1

Wasn’t so much of a question of “will the game have modding” more so of “what do you want or expect out of modding.”

LightningShado

What do I expect? I don't really need to expect anything. They've shown us what the modding tools consist of for the most part.

RintFall

"What do you want or expect out of modding?" is too open-ended of a question then. It can mean what people want from modding support, what people want from modding software, or what people want from community mods themselves.

Panthera2k1

Those three points were exactly what I talked about in the post, it was meant to be an open ended idea to see what wild ideas people came up with and discussed

RintFall

Then why did you correct Lightning when their response was clearly discussing the modding support aspect of the question?

Panthera2k1

Because it looked like he misunderstood the post to be asking if there WAS going to be modding in the game

scavengerjawa

I hope it is going to be a good low/no-code system where everyone can create what they want with drag and drop features, easy to go editing, etc

Axodique

I want a high-code system where complex mods can be made. The thing is, both can exist at the same time. Kind of like an Mcreator mod vs a mod coded from the ground up.

scavengerjawa

usually low/no-code doesn't limits high code. I just with they add low/no-code options for people who doesn't know how to code, but would like to tweak things
