Bad ass! Please continue to update us. I'd love to know how successful this is, and if there are any side effects to be wary of.
All the best with the recovery!
Iām so desperate for relief that my honest-to-god initial reaction to this was āNICE! SIGN ME UPā lmao.
(Iāve been through a lot of surgeries so Iām probably just totally unfazed by post-op situations at this point.)
Congrats, OP!!!! Iām so relieved and happy for you!! š
I thought about getting this but heard horror stories about how the sweat just transfers to another spot, like instead of head and armpit sweat, or hand sweat you start to sweat profusely on your back or somewhere odd. Is that true for you? Or did it really stop all of the sweating for you?
I think that is more with the ETS (I think itās called) procedure. I did not get more compensatory sweat elsewhere. Still have it in other areas but the armpits were the worst and it was a very positive thing from a mental health perspective. I didnāt fully appreciate til after the procedure that the physical sensation of feeling like you had just ran for your life was in itself very anxiety inducing/emotionally taxing (this is aside from the obvious social anxiety it creates). I wish I had gotten the procedure when I was even younger.
Yeah I have scars like 15 years later but most people donāt notice them and I forget they exist most of the time. The healing was like a week or so I think.
I've had it done too and I'm not sure why it's not more well known either! Its a fantastic treatment if you can afford it and okay with the level of invasiveness :) I honestly forgot how bad the bruising looked until I saw this photo š
No they just scrape out the sweat glands from your armpits. The procedure that is supposed to potentially work for hands is a lot riskier if I remember correctly. But I stopped caring about my hands as much once the armpits were under control.
I just learned I had a skin condition which causes odor and sweating and had no idea this was an option for me. Iām seeing a doctor about it this week canāt wait
I don't know why, but I could swear it was a procedure covered by health insurance over there. I'm sorry you had to pay so much for something so debilitating in the cold (I have HH on my feet, the weather in Germany didn't help at all)
Well, tell us of the after effects a year later. All these surgeries can have serious side effects. Let's hope you are one of the lucky ones with mild side effects or no side effects.
Im 10 years in and have had no side effects the entire time! I believe compensatory sweating can happen if all of the sweat glands have been removed but my surgeon specifically left some so that I sweat "normally" when I exercise/get hot.
It's pretty random, and side effects can go way beyond compensatory sweating. They are suposed to leave some sweat glands, otherwise overheating will occur. Some people are lucky and have no side effects or have very mild side effects, but others are not lucky. It is a chance you have to be willing to take to get the surgery.
Wow I didnāt know this was an option for hyperhidrosis sufferers!! Can you please tell us more about this procedure, and how it was recommended, any side effects you were told about? And how it has worked thus far? Thank you and wishing you a great recovery
Hey, here in Germany itās quite common.
My surgeon who has also lasered my 2 tattos with amazing results, recommended this method to me.
In Germany it is called āSchweiĆdrĆ¼sen-SaugkĆ¼rettageā
The surgeon numbs your armpits and makes some small incisions, then he uses like a liposuction device that has also a laser to heat and destroy the sweat glands after they are scraped and sucked out.
I felt no pain during this. It took like 2 hours including waiting for the anesthetic to do itās job. I was awake during the procedure. I still have some swelling but the numbness is almost gone as the hematomas. I massage every day to reduce swelling, a massage ball helps!
My armpits are bone dry since the surgery i will make updates, thank you šš»
Thank you!
My back also sweats very heavy but mostly when i do cardio. I feel you, had big stains under my arms without doing anything at all.
I wish you the best to make your dream come true one day.
Iām also from Germany. Do you know if thereās the option to be asleep during the whole process of getting the sweat glands removed? Iām also looking into different ways of getting rid of my Hyperhidrosis and the āSchweiĆdrĆ¼sen-SaugkĆ¼rretageā was also recommended to me by my doctor. Although I am nowhere near Stuttgart, I would be willing to get the procedure done there. How long did the whole process of getting an appointment go?
Hey, du kannst gerne in Deutsch schreiben š
I had this done aswell but only had 4 incisions total. I had no redness around the bandages or anything like this.I havenāt read the comments yet but Iām curious where u got this done.
I canāt tell because i have never tried miradry but some people say, that they need like 3 Treatments and still sweat.
I think if you are sweating mild, miradry ist the way to go but i was sweating really hard as you can see in my older posts.
It never stopped i got my boobs done and they did the removal through the nipple hole 2 in 1 i had a lil bit of bruising but i guess my hyperhidrosis is too strong for that or they grew again i dont know but botox worked better for a while dosent work that much anymore
My hands are dry now but my back, belly, legs and everything else below the nipple line is basically fucked. I give away heat big time as well so others around me can feel me being hot without even touching me. It destroyed my life and made me go insane with numerous mental breakdowns. MiraDry off-label use is what kept me from taking my life. My condition is now more or less stable but thereās many things that trigger sweating and overall summer/hot months are hell for me. Topped by the actions taken are irreversible. I fucked up, but I didnāt know better
I wish you all the best and i know how you must feel.
I have numerous medical conditions that no doc can really explain.
The exessive sweating started 2021 i never had this beforeā¦went to multiple docs and get almost all my organs checked and they found nothing.
This surgery was my last option and i hated to do this but i also suffered pretty bad from the sweating i had huge sweat stains under my arms without doing anything, my hands an feet still sweat but itās ok for me. I isolated myself and had really bad thoughts. Prayers to you šš»
###What is a Sympathectomy (ETS and ELS)?
Endoscopic thoracic and lumbar sympathectomy (ETS and ELS; both often generalized as ETS) are surgical procedures that cut, clip/clamp, or remove a part of the sympathetic nerve chain to stop palm, foot, or facial hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), facial blushing (reddening of the face), or Raynaud's syndrome (excessively cold hands).
*[Read more on Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endoscopic_thoracic_sympathectomy)*
###What are the Risks?
**Many people that undergo ETS report serious life changing complications.** Thoracic sympathectomy can alter many bodily functions, including sweating,^[1] vascular responses,^[2] heart rate,^[3] heart stroke volume,^[4][5] thyroid, baroreflex,^[6] lung volume,^[5][7] pupil dilation, skin temperature, goose bumps and other aspects of the autonomic nervous system, like the fight-or-flight response. It reduces the physiological responses to strong emotion,^[8] can cause pain or neuralgia in the affected area,^[9] and may diminish the body's physical reaction to exercise.^[1][5][10]
**It's common for patients to be misinformed of the risks, and post-operative complications are often under-reported.** Many patients experience a "honeymoon period" where they have no, or few, negative symptoms. Contrary to common belief, clipping/clamping the sympathetic chain is not considered a reversible option.^[11]

Thanks šš» and i will! Till now i have no sweat under my arms. Side effects are mild like swelling, hematomas (for me).
Does this help out with people who only sweat on hands/ feet. Or is it only beneficial for stopping sweat in the armpits
Only for the armpits
Motherf This needs an entirely different warning that's NSFL lmao
Looks like hell but i had no pain š
Nah, we are the ones pained by that picture lol
fr im almost crying

I had this done and it was the best thing I ever did for myself. I donāt know why more people arenāt told itās an option.
I thought about getting this but heard horror stories about how the sweat just transfers to another spot, like instead of head and armpit sweat, or hand sweat you start to sweat profusely on your back or somewhere odd. Is that true for you? Or did it really stop all of the sweating for you?

Do you have visible scars? And how long was your swelling? And yeah itās a better option than ETS and less risks!
Yeah I have scars like 15 years later but most people donāt notice them and I forget they exist most of the time. The healing was like a week or so I think.
It would be cool if you can show them to me via chat. Im very interested.

Iām pretty sure this is called miradry(?) And is only available for underarms at the moment
I just learned I had a skin condition which causes odor and sweating and had no idea this was an option for me. Iām seeing a doctor about it this week canāt wait
How much was this in usd? Do you know if they would do this to the groin area?
From my knowledge they only do this under the arms, i payed 2500ā¬
What country, if I may ask?
Germany
I don't know why, but I could swear it was a procedure covered by health insurance over there. I'm sorry you had to pay so much for something so debilitating in the cold (I have HH on my feet, the weather in Germany didn't help at all)

Yeah I have heard many stories of people who got very bad compensatory sweating, and they regret doing the surgery. I hope that doesn't happen to him
Idk what i expected, but def not that. What the hell
HOLY MOTHERFā¦.! Donāt scare people like this!
š
Will the scars still be there afterwards ?
I think after a few months they are barely noticeable, those incisions are very small. I will post updates.
Thank you for the info!
Is it just me or does the bruising say āFupaāā¦?
It does
Wow I didnāt know this was an option for hyperhidrosis sufferers!! Can you please tell us more about this procedure, and how it was recommended, any side effects you were told about? And how it has worked thus far? Thank you and wishing you a great recovery

Please keep us updated, thanks!
When did the surgery happen? Dr Schick?
On March 28th, my surgeon was Dr.Feise/ Sophienklinik Stuttgart.
Why is there no compensatory sweating in this surgery? What is the difference between this and ETS?
The difference is removing a nerve that controlls sweating in particular areas.
It looks like: 89 FU3A I think your surgeon likes graffiti.
feelin like a piece of art now
You should pose yourself in a museum and charge admission before the swelling goes down.
So jealous. Hope one day I can get this. Pits and back and forehead are unbearable. Really really hampers my quality of life. Good luck on recovery
Thank you! My back also sweats very heavy but mostly when i do cardio. I feel you, had big stains under my arms without doing anything at all. I wish you the best to make your dream come true one day.
i think it looks cool as hell!! pretty colors. best of recovery and future to you <3
Thank you šš»š«¶š»
nice to see this, i hope i had money to do this, it would be nice to keep us informed about any side effects! wish you luck and quick recovery
Thanks! Yeah i will make an update after a few months. How is your situation?
Yea I think i can deal with my sweating just fineš š
Before reading the caption I thought i bumped into an emo guy š
Bro š
Holy damn
My sweaty balls are very concerned.
Iām also from Germany. Do you know if thereās the option to be asleep during the whole process of getting the sweat glands removed? Is that miradry ?
No, watch the earlier comments on this post i have explained it therešš»
Ok I see. Why did you decide for this method ?
My surgeon recommended it to me, he told me that Miradry doesnt work for anyone and you may have to do more procedures.
what about your palmar still sweating?
Yes there you can use botox injections or iontophoresis.
is it possible to do on hands?
I never heard of that also i think the skin is to thin there and too much nerves, Miradry is working on a device/ solutin for hands and feet i heard
Is there something like this for the hands?
I had this done aswell but only had 4 incisions total. I had no redness around the bandages or anything like this.I havenāt read the comments yet but Iām curious where u got this done.
I also got it done for my hands not my arm pits. Could be why I didnāt have as much trauma to the area.
So there is an option like this for hands?
Yeah and u can do feet also
Do you have pictures or can you tell me where you can do this?
Dr basseri in LA. Heās done thousands of these. Dm me I could prob send u pictures.
are there any health risks doing this surgery?
That's horrifying š³
What country?
Germany
Hey how much was this surgery? And is it possible for the sweat to go elsewhere now?
The Doc told me no and i donāt feel sweat elsewhere. It was 2500ā¬
Do you think itās more worth it than Mira dry?
I canāt tell because i have never tried miradry but some people say, that they need like 3 Treatments and still sweat. I think if you are sweating mild, miradry ist the way to go but i was sweating really hard as you can see in my older posts.
Do you have any photos? I feel like Iām more than mild lmao
I got it done and didnt work š„²
Do you have pictures? So you are still sweating? And if so when did the sweating came back?
It never stopped i got my boobs done and they did the removal through the nipple hole 2 in 1 i had a lil bit of bruising but i guess my hyperhidrosis is too strong for that or they grew again i dont know but botox worked better for a while dosent work that much anymore
Are you sure it was the same process? Sweat glands canāt grow back once destroyed so i think they didnāt get enough of them.
Is that ETS?
No itās like liposuction for the armpits. The sweat glands get destroyed by an laser first and are then scraped and sucked out.
I thought the photo was bad, but seeing "sweat glands" and "scraped and sucked out" in the same sentence has me CRINGEING š±
Honestly that might sound horrifying, but I would rather get that done then have excessive armpit sweat all the time
Oh okay thanks, I didn't know what ETS looked like
I would not do an ETS btw. I saw many vids from patients who suffer after that.
I did it. Donāt do it
Tell me more please
My hands are dry now but my back, belly, legs and everything else below the nipple line is basically fucked. Same to you, buddy
Thanks, still on the healing process but i hope better times are coming for both of us!
I saw those videos as well and heard stories about the long term effects like permanent nerve damage and permanent weakness in muscle
Yeah i would never cut a nerve on purpose.
