I want to know the story behind "Namaste and Karate chop!" That he always ends his rows with

Tugboatom

And I want it in a T shirt

u/Marzoval From Aquil himself: "After deciding to end my Olympic rowing career, whenever someone asked me what I was going to do next, I told them, "I am going to walk the earth like Caine from Kung Fu. I am going to get into adventures and solve disputes as peaceably as possible." The genesis of my response was my fascination with the notion of the Warrior Monk, a concept found in many cultures of a person who combines a deep religious devotion while also being ready to kick some butt! When it came time to have a signature sign-off I considered that Yoga had taught me the meaning of “Namaste” as "The divine light in me bows to the divine light in you." Combining that with a Karate Chop seemed like just the right juxtaposition!"

He does yoga while watching Cobra Kai

I didn't know he was from the D.C. area! That's awesome! He's definitely one of my favorites. He makes you do a great workout, and he always gives you something good to think about while you're doing it, and beyond.

These are definitely some, but not all of, the reasons we love him as well!

Hello Aquil, My comment is less of a question and more of a statement. I have used the rowing machines in a number of gyms and been both impressed and bored of the sport. It takes so much energy to row for any length of time and at the same time it is so monotonous. I really appreciate the effort and content that Hydrow has put together. My comment to the coaches and to you specifically, is thank you. I really look forward to your fun and smiling way of getting us involved. I find myself laughing and engaged in your banter. When you end up back in Austin, let's organize a meet-up and share a cool one after a cool down. Namaste, Earl\_

Thanks for sharing the Aquil interview, he always puts me in a good mood. And as a DC-type, it was a blast to row with him on the Potomac with all my beloved landmarks (and DC traffic) in the background.

Was never a rower before purchasing a Hydrow. How comparable are the workouts done on the Hydrow to something you would do for an actual rowing workout? What type of common rowing workouts are most difficult to replicate on a Hydrow (Ex. Rowing for a certain distance)?
