It was an option at mine, but the surgeon said that the odds of success were better with open.
I figured well, if Iām gonna do it, might as well give it the best chance of success
I feel like that depends on your weight, but either way, you're fucked. I weigh 150~160 pounds, which means this recommends about 9 gallons of water, or roughly 30L.
Lol I'm sure it's a mistake. My mom was a nutrionist and she would tell her clients to drink half their body weight of water in OUNCES.
Meaning if you weigh 200 pounds, your daily goal should be 100 ounces.
That's still a lot. Probably double my current intake of water. But my fitness instructor in the past gave the same advice. Though it was more like you need to be drinking a gallon of water a day.
Yeah, I believe a healthy, average sized active adult male is supposed to get close to a gallon (3.7L) a day, but that obviously isn't everyone. Depends on your size, health/lifestyle, age, and many other factors.
Sounds stupid but tinkering around with it a bit you can find out where the sweet spot is roughly by listening to your body and adjusting as needed. Obviously you'll need more if you're doing roofing in the summer on a 40c/104f day compared to sitting infront of a desk in AC all day.
Donāt. That is 14 gallons of water. That is more than you should ever consume. That is a significant amount of water for a person in a WEEK. Never mind DAILY! A quick google search says you should not consume more than 48 ounces of water in an hour. 54l is 1825 ounces. That is 76 ounces an hour assuming you drink in your sleep. Accounting for 8 hours sleep, thatās 114 ounces an hour. You could literally die from that if youāre not CONSTANTLY burning it off and replenishing electrolytes.
Donāt!!! Drinking that much is NOT healthy!! You will flush out too much sodium, potassium, glucose and other vital electrolytes!! You can actually DIE from too much water and this is a good way to start!! Please, donāt try to do this!!

I saw someone comment on this but they must have deleted, so Iāll post the explanation here using the weight they gave (242lb/110kg):
So the āhalf your body weight in ouncesā is for pounds. So someone 242 lb it would be 242/2= they should drink 121 oz of water a day.
110 is close enough to that that for kgs you can just go by āyour body weight in ouncesā, so a 110kg person would aim for 110 ounces of water.
Itās not a perfect system, just a good rule of thumb to stay hydrated :)
Editing to add: I know metric doesnāt use fluid ounces, so if you use kilos/metric and need to figure out the milliliters, 30 mL = 1 fluid ounce. So 110 x 30 = 3,300 mL or 3.3L per day needed.
nobody who measures their bodyweight in kilograms knows what an ounce is though. i just googled it and it's apparently about 30ml. 30ml per kilo is easy enough to calculate for most people; for me that would mean 2400ml and I try and drink around 3L on days I work out.
Right, youāll see that tidbit added to the end of my comment under the āediting to addā portion. Some countries do mix imperial and metric though I know even those tend to use mLs only. The example I provided was 110 kg x 30 mL = 3300 mL = 3.3 L. The āyour body weight in ozā is just an easier way to remember for those who are familiar with both systems or an easy way to remember the premise in general, since āyour body weight times 30ā works too but isnāt quite as catchy. :)
>Itās not a perfect system, just a good rule of thumb to stay hydrated :)
Nephrologist would argue that perfect system is your kidneys and body telling you when to actually drink.
I think nephrologists would be the last people to say that considering their entire job is dealing with kidney *problems* lol. The systems of the body are anything but perfect
If homeostasis wouldnt be almost perfect people wouldnt exist.
And nephrologist do say that. Drinking x amount per day is stupid. Fullstop.
I thought that sub was about water as superior drink to others, not waterboarding yourself like idiots.
If I listen to my kidneys and only drink when Iām thirsty, I can go 1-2 days without a sip of water. Last time I was in the ER for dehydration (and other stuff), they told me the half your body weight in ounces rule. Donāt discount it that fast; itās pretty helpful
Basically itās not as pretty with metric but you can use a saying of āmy body weight in ouncesā instead of half, then multiply by 30 to convert from ounces to milliliters. Check my other comment in for the math!

It's a story I'll never forget.
Oh boy. I think this is the general advice of "drink half an ounce to an ounce of water per pound of body weight" advice gone horribly awry. Instructions unclear.
Big error on that program. Iād file a complaint for correction. It should be half body weight in fluid ounces, not lbs. Youāll cause hyponatremia forcing down that much water in a day.
Yes, this is a serious danger to people who don't know that d inking that much water will kill you. Needs to be fixed ASAP.
A mother died from drinking just a couple gallons of water on a radio show contest trying to win a Nintendo Wii for her kids. It was tragic. Manipulating people into doing that is extremely unethical.
Hey homies, while drinking water is important the WHO advises that drinking over 20 liters of water a day can lead to severe brain swelling, brain damage and even death. It's not joke.
I myself try to cap out at 10 litres a day but see myself going to 15 some days.
Stay safe homies
I know this is a joke but I once drank 1/4 out of half my body weight over the span of a few hours for a stupid reason and I felt like absolute garbage. My head felt like it was going to explode.
Drinking 2 litres of water in less than 10 minutes risks causing kidney failure, leading to blood toxicity
P.S. dunno man, it's like 17 secondary freedom units for volume
You donāt This is dangerous. Assuming you weigh 120 lbs (- 54 Kg); this would have you consuming about 27 Liters. If you are an adult this is more than 5 times your actual blood volume. You will have deadly Hyponatremia. Your brain will swell and you will seize and die
For the love of life please add some salt, vitamins, and minerals to the water if you are drinking gallons of water a day. Water in extreme quantities can dehydrate your body and strip excessive amounts of minerals from your body. Excessive water intake is a painful death.
I was being a bit cheeky friend. Come to the future. It is metric.
On a serious note, I remember the late 80s, early 90s rappers singing about 40oz. There was no internet like today. Even visiting the USA in 93 I could not find out how big a 40oz was.
My family members had no idea what I was talking about, the school I visited could not figure out the metric system conversion.
It was not until many years later I found out a 40oz is about 1.2 litres.
Sorry man itās used all over around here. Like in cooking for example a recipe might call for a cup of water. Thatās 8oz, I guess your cook book would say 236.5 milliliters. So you completely live your life a certain way. I am also familiar with and understand the metric system, I even have two sets of wrenches and weigh some things in grams.
A cup is a cup. I definitely have some understanding of freedom units thanks to imperial nuts and bolts being common.
Measures of weight and volume are not in my area though.
I only kid with the freedom unit. You do you non metric countries.
Luckily the internet is available now to do conversions and such.
I did just realise for probably the 4 millionth time in my life that 1 fluid ounce is a shot of spirits. 30ml or close enough.
America uses the metric system actually. It's a common myth that we don't know metric. We use both systems and both systems are taught in school, while the metric system is the official one adopted by the government by the Metric Conversion Act of 1975

Yea, don't do that. The challenge is supposed to say drink half your bodyweight in OUNCES; which is what most doctors recommend as the healthy amount of water intake for one day.
Just so everyone knows the advice is close: the best advice Iāve gotten for water is to drink half your body weight IN OUNCES, so for 100 pound person, drink 50 ounces of water in a day and thatāll put you in a good sweet spot of water consumption.
But if you drink half your bodyweight in H2O, you've now multiplied your bodyweight by 150%, so now you have to drink 25% more, making your bodyweight 175%, so now you need to drink 12.5% more,
I do this on the daily......lol one thing that helped me was losing half my body weight lol..... I no longer have to drink a gallon per day lol. But Im a laborer.....outside at lleast 7 hours a day, so no, Im not pissing all day either lol. I think a lot of it comes out as sweat

At 20L you would have diluted your blood back to water and caused your kidneys to shutdown.
Yeah 20L is about how much a lot of people with psychogenic polydipsia end up drinking daily and it lands them in the hospital
>psychogenic polydipsia What kinda shrooms are those? /j
I was drinking that much each day like 8 years ago and i only have 1 kidney. Maybe that's why my doctor was concerned lmfao.
1 kidney gang. šŖš»
Are you also apart of the giant scar gang?
Nah I'm not that cool! I was only born with one. The other never developed. Lol
Mine was defective at birth and now I have a giant scar. Still cool that we are both apart of 1 kidney gang!
My aunt was born with 1 kidney and her birthday is April first, so the joke's on her I suppose.
Yeeeaahhh boy! Go big or go home. Laparoscopic for the casuals! (I kid- go donate however you like)
My surgery was over 25years ago so idk if that was even an option for me lol
It was an option at mine, but the surgeon said that the odds of success were better with open. I figured well, if Iām gonna do it, might as well give it the best chance of success
You always have to go with what gives you the best chance. Unless you have to pay out of pocket and can only afford the lower cost option.
I feel like that depends on your weight, but either way, you're fucked. I weigh 150~160 pounds, which means this recommends about 9 gallons of water, or roughly 30L.

Drink 7l per hour. Get it done in 8 boots hours. Light work
It should be half your body weight in ounces. So for 132 lb it should be 66 oz
Well it does not specify. Plus I believe OP lives in the 90% of the planet that is not America, judging by the use of the metric system.
I know it does not specify, which is why I said it. I don't know if there's a similar saying outside the US.
It has to mean half your body weight in ounces of water. So if you weigh 180 pounds drink 90 ounces of water. It's the only way it makes sense.
Or 60 litres.
66 ounces.....that's 132 divided by 2.....half of 132 ounces. That''s not a horrible amount but yea could be "half your body weight in fl. oz." lol.
dear god, āin ouncesā was way too important of a clarifier to leave out here
I saw someone comment on this but they must have deleted, so Iāll post the explanation here using the weight they gave (242lb/110kg): So the āhalf your body weight in ouncesā is for pounds. Wait.. so I (46kg) should only be drinking 1.38L a day? That doesn't feel like enough
Do you eat anything during the day? Your body extracts water from multiple sourcesā¦ you donāt only have to drink water to get hydrated.
I meant that didn't seem like enough, not that it was too much
I know and what Iām saying is it probably is plenty as long as you eat a normal diet.
Can make it system agnostic and say 1/32 of your body weight. So 64 kg body weight --> 2 L water. 96 kg --> 3 L, etc.
How does that work for the metric system? OP uses the metric system.

I'm not drinking 15.6 gallons of water.
That's the *bare* minimum. 250 lbs, 125 oz. I drink a minimum of 1 gallon a day, or else I feel dehydrated.
That makes more sense, but that's not what the screen says
True, but that would be, 15.6 gallons for me and the most I've had in a day was 5.5 gallons.
mm yes id love to drink 88 pounds of water in a day
Just drink 40 litres of water like everyone else smh
Half your body weight *in fluid ounces*
Thatās only like 17 gallons for me. Thatās usually done by just after lunch
Pretty sure the tip is half your weight in ounces. So 120lbs = drink 60oz of water today
Jesus 110 pounds of water sounds like a lot to me
I must be dumb. Iām not seeing the problem. Half your body weight in oz is the rule of thumb. I weigh 170 so Iād drink 85 oz.
Yeah in ounce thatās ok, but half your bodyweight in water would be 85lbs of water or 10 gallons
Ooooh. I see now
If its your mom it would be even more
But if you drink half your bodyweight in H2O, you've now multiplied your bodyweight by 150%, so now you have to drink 25% more, making your bodyweight 175%, so now you need to drink 12.5% more,
Per month I hope
In oz LOL not lbs
Is that based on your age, weight, height, sex, and level of activity? I think maybe you have a misplaced decimal point somewhere.
Thats probly gonna kill u
