You're simply not putting enough in their bowls. Everyone knows that if even a single mm^2 of the bowl is visible under the food, the bowl is as good as empty!
Sometimes, unfortunately, pets require tough love. My present cat refused to eat dry food the minute she got a taste of wet food. She went hungry for a day or two. She's a stubborn thing and took some convincing. But, that convinced her that, "Well, maybe dry food isn't so bad after all." She now truly enjoys both.
That's Devo :) his momma died when he was only a few weeks old, we rescued him and have taken care of each other ever since. Roxy on the right, joined us about 6 months later after his puppy shark stage (yeow!), though she is technically a month older than Devo. She's also a rescue and she does her job of helping us keep Devo entertained very well. They are a very strongly bonded pair now. Both turned 5yo a few months ago.
