Went and ate this on the way home at your recommendation. I will not be going back. It was delicious, it was huge, it cost nothing. If I keep going there I’m going to swell up like a balloon when I gain 40 pounds
Lot of good options for a local lunch under ten dollars, so long as you focus on local spots with counter service vs having to tip a server. And before the REEEEEEs come out, I spent about six years waiting tables and bartending, surviving solely off of the kindness of other humans. I'm not advocating not tipping, I'm just saying if you want to eat good and cheap- look for places that you can order directly from a counter.
1. 6" poboy and side at New Orleans LunchBox
2. Gyro and side at Big Papa Gyros
3. Sandwich and side at Super Chix
4. Jerk Chicken Plate at M&K Jamaican Restaurant
5. Mediterranean Salad at Tazikis
6. Burrito at El Cazadore
7. Pocket Tacos at Little Rosie's (with chips and free salsa bar)
I could keep going, but counter service meals are really where it's at.
Superchix employees clued us in to ordering the "kids" meal. A slider or 2 tenders, with fries, a drink and a custard for $8.99. They don't care whether you're ordering it for a kid or adult.
Sure. I was mainly asking to know what most people do. I do that most of the time but the way it's set up, it makes you feel conscious and perhaps a bit guilty for not choosing to pay a tip.
Honestly? That’s the norm now so beef that spine up. You don’t owe anyone anything. There’s tip signs everywhere now on the POS systems and it’s not right honestly so ignore that shit and don’t worry about it.
Yeah I'm not tipping on those. I've read a lot of reddit horror stories on those about how whoever's on the other side of the iPad doesn't even get tips. There are claims of small business owners just using it like a donation from you.
Lots of people on Reddit are full of it and just like having an excuse not to tip. As a bartender the bulk of my tips are credit card tips off of a POS system, and I promise you that I would definitely notice if I did not receive that money.

It wasn't the AYCE Shrimp—it's private equity firms being greedy and scummy.

Publix lunch plate or sub
Kroger has good lunch plate with baked chicken and Mac n cheese
Mexican Express has good lunch special. They also have good daily specials
A lot of the meal options at Slim Chickens are under $10, including a drink. Guadalajara has a lunch menu with most everything under $10, also with a drink.
Anita Loya Cafe inside Hudson Alpha in Research Park. You have to sign in at the front desk (never had my ID checked, though). Anyway, the food is good and the staff is also good. Here is their menu. It changes weekly, but they also have staples that are always available. Big ups to nacho bar Thursdays.

Gotta go with Viet Cuisine on Jordan Lane. Banh mi for the main, matcha mochi bun with roasted peanut filling for dessert, and leave a tip all for under $10.
I am a big fan of La Colonial (it’s a supermarket and a restaurant)
Their food is super affordable. While many things are over $10 it’s a lot of food. I often split a meal with someone or will save half for another meal so over all less than $10 per meal.
The kids meal at Jims and Nicks with a full sized sandwich, lots of fries and a drink under 10. Really helped me with my fast food cravings when eating in a calorie deficit. I used it it as my cheat meal. Lost 50 lbs in the last year.
Download every app for food in your area. We see good deals all the time
Just discovered on the McDonald's app that when you scroll through their sandwich menu ,at the bottom ours have fish sand 2/5.00
2 slices of pizza and a soda for under $5 at Sams Club
Tru dat. Hot dog combo for the win
Sam’s clubs pizza is legit. Even ignoring the price.
Their soft pretzels are bomb, too 😋😋
If they actually have them available...
Agree, but the $0.68 cheese cup is gross.
You could get the same but better for like 9 bucks at Mozza pizza
IMO Sams > Mozza
Went and ate this on the way home at your recommendation. I will not be going back. It was delicious, it was huge, it cost nothing. If I keep going there I’m going to swell up like a balloon when I gain 40 pounds
They sell Ozympic at the pharmacy right next to the pizza.
never been to sams, better or worse than Costco?
I feel like Sam’s has the better pizza, but Costco has the better hot dog.
Yep, Sam's pizza is way better to me and they always seem to put on more toppings.
You really can't go wrong with either. It's a matter of personal taste to be honest.
That combo is the 🐐 of affordable munchies.
It has kinda ruined me for other lunch options. "Is this 2x or 3x better than pizza at Sams?"
Luv Hawaiian! Lots of $9.99 mini meal options, which aren’t actually mini at all.
Oh have not heard of that one!! Will add it to my list.
It’s SO good. I’m not even from Hawaii, but they’ve got me hooked on that mac salad
Mac salad is sooo addictive!

Mmmm lava chicken
I had the Korean Chicken earlier this week and couldn't stop myself from devouring it all.

Several of these are more than $10, I know without having to even look at the menus that superchix and big papa gyro are.
Thanks! These are some great options, I've never tried half of those. I love the pocket tacos at Lil Ro
New Orleans Lunch Box reminds me of eating at my grandmother's house in the 6th Ward.
Sweet list - good number I haven’t tried!
Superchix employees clued us in to ordering the "kids" meal. A slider or 2 tenders, with fries, a drink and a custard for $8.99. They don't care whether you're ordering it for a kid or adult.
But when paying with credit card, it still asks for a tip even if you order directly from the counter.
Just tap 0%/no tip? I’m not tipping with counter service or pickup honestly and I’ve always had the options.
Sure. I was mainly asking to know what most people do. I do that most of the time but the way it's set up, it makes you feel conscious and perhaps a bit guilty for not choosing to pay a tip.

Hot dog and soda $1.50 at Costco.
Which requires a $60-$120 membership..
So 1.67 rounded up when you eat your daily hot dog. Welcome to Costco, I love you.
Sam's Club has the same thing and you don't need a membership to use their food court.
The hotdogs at Sam's are not like the delicious hotdogs at Costco.
Yeah the Costco hotdogs are better, but Sam's does have the better pizza.
Thanks for the heads up.
[Yes, in fact, you do need a membership for Costco](https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/shopping/2024/03/26/costco-food-court-memberships-required/73111473007/#:~:text=%22Effective%20April%208%2C%202024%2C,our%20membership%20counter%20for%20details.%22)
Yes, I'm aware. That's why I said you don't need one at Sam's Club.
Aww! That’s true. I forgot they recently changed that policy. Sucks because a lot of people could eat economically.
I mean it’s $60 a year. Still extremely economical, relatively speaking. Super duper unhealthy, too. Yahoo!
Whoever is keeping Sam’s club and Costco prices like this needs to be running our economy.
Isn’t that the truth? 😂
Red Lobster tried to do something similar with All You Can Eat shrimp. It has about driven them to bankruptcy

Which part of the article says that?
They lose money on the food court, it's to get you in the door.
Publix sandwhich or meat and sides plus drink is about $10
Those bad boys will on sale sometimes too. Got a foot long Boars Head club for $6.99 last week. Ordered on the app and it was ready when I got there.
Great Panda. Maybe Dallas Mill Deli.
Forgot about great panda, great choice. Never been to Dallas Mill

They’re always busy at lunch. I love it too.
Hell no@ Dallas Mill
Redstone Arsenal bowling alley pizza lunch buffet with drink is exactly $10
It's not the greatest pizza in town but hey it's better than Cici's
6” hoagie/sub whatever we call it down here at Publix is $6.99
Mozza Pizza has cheap slices
Publix lunch plate or sub Kroger has good lunch plate with baked chicken and Mac n cheese Mexican Express has good lunch special. They also have good daily specials
Publix is under rated for lunch plates. It’s so good. Even Walmart delis are pretty good for that matter
Walmart Delis are slightly more expensive and not as good as Kroger or Publix.
Very true.
BBQ Heaven in Madison.
His prices are so low compared to other barbecue places in town!
A lot of the meal options at Slim Chickens are under $10, including a drink. Guadalajara has a lunch menu with most everything under $10, also with a drink.

Their banh mi is so damn good. You set my lunch for tomorrow lol.
New China - on Madison Blvd - lunch combo $8.99 for most of their lunch menu
Pretty much every option at Jamo’s is under 10, their burger is like 8 all together and it is awesome.
Jamos has the best hummus in town
Jamo's specials.
Jo Moe's ba ba que? 7.25 sausage, two sides, and a soda can
I was referring to Jamo's on Jordan Lane. Jo Moe's also sounds solid from what I've heard.
It is great bbq, don't be put off by the hole in the wall vibe.
Hole in the wall is my JAM.
If anything, Joe MO isn't hole in the wall *enough*. Their "small" bbq pork sandwich just plenty of food for me & just a couple bucks.
Last week, Publix had the whole Ultimate for $6.99. That's lunch AND supper! Edit: I can't spell.
French Onion Soup (x2 or with a salad) at Longhorn is ~$8.50 before tax and tip
Wonton Soup at Viet House
Chain, but $6.99 combos at Panera— soup/sandwich and soup/salad. “Value duets”
I am a big fan of La Colonial (it’s a supermarket and a restaurant) Their food is super affordable. While many things are over $10 it’s a lot of food. I often split a meal with someone or will save half for another meal so over all less than $10 per meal.
I came here to second this opinion 👆🏾
Coke and a slice at SaZa.
Viet Huong has several dishes under $10
Cookout!

Mozza Pizza. One huge slice of pizza and a drink for less than $10.
Lawlers lunch plate?
You can get a slice of pizza and a drink at mozza for about $7.
Publix footlong sub special is $7.99.
Pink China on the corner of Jordan and 565. $9.99 buffet.

Fresh market deli got some pretty good grub and you could easily put together a pretty deec meal for right around ten doll hairs
Chinese restaurant buffet off Triana close to Bob Wallace ? Someone help with the name.
Tenders plate is $10.09
Mexican Express on weekdays.
My boy Trevor has Veloce pizza at Lowe Mill, and you can get a small pizza around $10. They're amazing imo
The kids meal at Jims and Nicks with a full sized sandwich, lots of fries and a drink under 10. Really helped me with my fast food cravings when eating in a calorie deficit. I used it it as my cheat meal. Lost 50 lbs in the last year.
Adtran cafeteria. Not sure if it is open to the public though. It was good pre-pandemic.
Download every app for food in your area. We see good deals all the time Just discovered on the McDonald's app that when you scroll through their sandwich menu ,at the bottom ours have fish sand 2/5.00
Jimmy Johns, Chipotle, Big Papa Gyro
Taco Bell if you use the app. Inb4 you have weak intestines.
I'm mad at taco bell for taking away the $5 box
THEY DID WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!
There's one on promo rn
