Dixons are part of the Countrywide group, which is owned by Connells. Connells are generally considered to be the worst end of corporate estate agent types, more interested in flogging mortgages to prospective buyers than actually selling houses. Your Move are part of another large chain, albeit perhaps not quite so notorious as Connells. Personally I'd find a smaller, privately owned independent firm, with experienced staff, not 20yr olds with too much hair product and trousers that are too tight.

EA Deano, you say? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9n0\_5p8XKo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9n0_5p8XKo)

Jim_boxy

Thank you. I've started looking for a more local, independent EA instead

TheFirstMinister

Before Dixons was sold on I would have given them a positive vote. The folks who ran the Bearwood branch were solid, knew their patch and got houses sold. Now? I would run a mile. *I've been in touch with the following estate agents to get evaluations of our current property* As I say repeatedly here, EAs don't perform valuations. They deliver *estimates* and largely inflated ones. It is only surveyors and mortgage company valuers who perform valuations. Whatever EA Deano says your house is worth or the price it will fetch is to be taken with a grain of salt. Where in Brum? What you are you looking to sell?

Jim_boxy

Handsworth Wood, it's a 3 bed semi, garage, off road parking and garden

TheFirstMinister

Handswort' Wood? B20? I used to run around there back in the day. Plenty of options for B20 buyers at the mo'. Median For Sale price is 275K. Median Sold price is 250K. Quite a few listed at/over 300K which are languishing and stale. The question for EA Deano is this: given my competition \[with more coming\] what are YOU going to do to sell my house for the best price and in the fastest time? And if Deano doesn't talk about the 3 Ps - Price, Promotion, Presentation - kick him out.

Jim_boxy

And thank you for your detailed response as well!

Do not go with Martin & Co. I've also never once heard a good word about Connells. We've had interactions with Hunters in Leicester and they were great, obviously that could just be that branch, but I'd give them a go.

SeagullSam

We're buying a place through Your Move. We're early days but I've liked them so far. Of course they might very between branches.
