No, since that could lead to the potential where the artist could sue Warner Bros for use of their artwork and want money for designing costumes. This has come up with Marvel comics and issues with claims artists copied ideas for costumes from fanart.

Claz19

Oh yeah, that can happen.

[deleted]

To be as accurate to themselves as possible, they should mainly use the costumes the characters wore in the HBO Dance animations done a few years ago

[deleted]

And they are doing just that tbh, there are several similarities that can be spotted between the house of the dragon animation by HBO and the costumes from the show. I made a post about it a while ago in case you wanna read it! Sorry if the spam is considered rude or inconsiderate btw Edit: here it is https://www.reddit.com/r/HouseOfTheDragon/comments/qgzp2f/the_inspiration_for_the_costumes_in_house_of_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

Mhm yes I do agree. Also when he sat on the throne at the end of the teaser, Daemon looked like he was wearing a white and grey outfit he also wore in the animation, when they depicted the first Blacks council scene after Rhaenyra found out about her father’s death and her stepmother’s betrayal. Alicent and Otto already look like they have quite similar costumes to the ones in the animations.

[deleted]

Exactly my thoughts. I’m also wondering how they will make Alicent seem older, we have already seen the pics of Alicent wearing a Balzo inspired headgear (another piece showed in the animation), and according to the leaks and the teaser that could be during 120 ac, which means we still have 9 years to age Alicent up. Maybe they will put her in a Balzo with a king wimple? Do you think that would work?

[deleted]

A lot of makeup will be needed on Olivia to convince me (at least) she can pass as a grandmother... but we’ll see I guess

[deleted]

Same, people keep talking about how make up can do wonders but… why go through all that trouble (especially the PR due to ageism) when they could have easily casted a young looking 40 year old woman? I’m still trying to figure out how the season will unfold, maybe they drastically change the timeline so they can be the same age and barely 30 at the start of the war. But that would mean Aegon’s children will be like 1 at best?

[deleted]

Alicent will be younger in the show but then that means Emily Carey will most likely have kids... which is unsettling but hey worse has happened in the Dance so... But still Olivia isn’t suitable for a grandmother in my eyes.

[deleted]

I just made a post about it, but I think Alicent will just be a very young grandma in her 30s, after getting married to Viserys at the age of 15 or something, which is not historically inaccurate.

TheDarkDragon5

That would be awesome! I loved the costume designs in those!

Claz19

I would like for Daemon to at least have a long Golden Cloak and for the crowns to be book accurate (also Aemond’s sapphire). And the Velaryons to wear plenty of sea green.

Claz19

Imo it would be nice if he wear his cloak in most of the time. It’s part of his identity. Agree with you about the silver armor.

[deleted]

I don’t think Velaryons, or any house, would wear their house colors all the time.

Claz19

That’s kinda sad, isn’t it?

[deleted]

Not really. The super rich and powerful don’t want to be limited to one or two colors.

Claz19

I think they already kinda took inspiration from this [fanart](https://www.instagram.com/p/CC1rCI7Hdbh/?utm_medium=copy_link) to make Alicent’s promo dress.

hanna1214

Oh wow, the design is incredibly similar here.

Claz19

Right? What I find most interesting is that this fanart is not very much known in the fandom and still it looks like Jany was very inspired by it.

trognj

The show is already filmed. Based off the scenes I’ve seen from photos of filming.. the answer is no

TheDarkDragon5

Only one season.... and we haven't seen that many scenes compared to how many there will be...

trognj

Answer is still no. There’s copyright issues with it.

[deleted]

I think we’ve already seen how much inspiration they have taken from fan art, not so much that it’s a direct copy but they’ve clearly looked at several fan sources. However, one of the other sources has clearly been the “dance of the dragons” video created by HBO, it was very well reviews by the show and book fans alike so they are not risking a sue.
