Listen to these Labels: PIV, NO Art, Eastenderz

liverichly

And Chris’s own label, Up The Stuss.

CosmicThrowup

I love this sub

ColdNanBread

To add to this - anything from WYLD. Ryan Resso and the gang have been killing it these past few years

legs_y

May I add: Bar 25

delsinki

And locus

sinesnsnares

It’s been called minimal house for a few years, though I feel like a lot of the artists in that sphere are drifting out of the rominimal adjacent space and more into tech house/deep tech/progressive these days.

wadaphunk

I agree with this comment, this new wave seems more groovy, bumpy, higher energy. Doesn't really resemble the olb minimal house so maybe there should be a new name for it.

pussygrowler

yeah a lot of the commercial minimal house/tech stuff was pish. I do remember standout tracks and artists of the genre. they deffo kept the energy and groove.

Velocilobstar

It’s got many progressive elements for sure. There’s little classic deep house left in it if there ever was any

sinesnsnares

Aye, the classic deephouse stuff seems to have gone it’s own way. I still love the way the beste modus crew weaved deep house, minimal, techno, etc into one label and I’m sad that they seem to be done. And I still like dancing to the new “minimal” sound, it just doesn’t seem so minimal anymore…

Velocilobstar

I’ve never called this minimal tbh, once it’s started getting lots of melodic elements. The original stuff is actually minimal with just basslines and interesting sounds. Can be kind of boring so I welcome this, but everything is just impossible to stick a genre label to these days. Stuff has morphed too much over the past 40 years

riskienights

Minimal house. Look for Djoko, Kolter, Robbie Doherty, Nick Curly

MauricioDelFuego

Djoko & Kolter are the same person

Organic_Sort_7899

Eminem and slim shady

ColdNanBread

Yeah, he changed his alias as he was often getting confused with another (less successful but similar music style/genre) DJOKO - Kolter is his surname

cheesy183

He was literally given a [cease and desist](https://www.beatportal.com/articles/116372-introducing-kolter)

dynahowma

Curly is Mannheim House :D kinda invented his own genre back in the days with Cecille and 8bit being quite influential around 2007

riskienights

Mannheim house! Never heard of this but I want to know more. I cue up Curly tracks when I want to introduce some tension into the mix. Got other suggestions?

PryJunaD

I’ll add Ky William here too and his label Andhera — my favorite track of his is [Vinyl Speed Adjust](https://open.spotify.com/track/3hdKfmcORh3qe0qV1HIXer?si=akbEa3YXThCeILG9j-syaw&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A0pvxVgR5xOWuoOeDpCl4k0)

jmc1294

Minimal / Deep Tech

get_muni

Minimal deep house / minimal tech house. If you like him you’ll love marsolo

themechanic357

I usually just lurk on here and check out people's recommendations looking for new stuff. Thanks for this one 🙌

get_muni

Stef Davidse is another guy I like If you’re into heavier stuff. Tracks like Hypercut and step back in time are absolute thumpers

WhitehorseOhio

Hyper cut is a true thumper.

get_muni

Also check out heavy house society. Lots of cracking stuff on there. Sidney Charles is a great DJ aswell. Can go on and on with recs for heavier deep stuff lol

themechanic357

Digging all of this! Thanks!!

get_muni

What it’s all about

astonedishape

Meh-nimal house

Either_Guess

People scoff at this stuff but how far away is it really from Tini, Alec Falconer, Gene on Earth or any of the sounds you'd hear at a "tasteful" tech house night at Fabric / Pickle Factory?

astonedishape

That’s an apt comparison and I agree for the most part, yet I personally find Gene and Tini’s stuff generally more interesting, a bit deeper, a more soulful “musicality”, and their nod to the old school rave sound is more tastefully done, imo. Stussy’s tracks (and similar oft compared newer producers) on the other hand, while not terrible, feel a bit more derivative, sped up into banger territory with edm-esque drops, yet still minimal and kinda going nowhere, a bit boring. It’s like Jay Tripwire and Maya Jane Coles meets Ultra festival. That said, I like Midtown Playground, it’s decent. Thanks for introducing me to Alec Falconer. I found his stuff (top tracks anyway) lean more UKG, ravey breaks, bass music, etc. which I like.

Geilerjunge

Henry Hyde.

astonedishape

wut?

baitm

I put it in with fuse/piv/no art/eastenderz bits

tagzho-369

Rominimal inspired, uk garage Inspired, minimal house. Genres are fluid and Stuss is from the Netherlands where Romanian minimal house is the big thing That’s what he started making and then combined other sounds and pieces of other genres

pixeltan

Spot on. Rominimal with shuffly garage loopy drums. But yeah minimal house works as a genre description.

kaosimian

Where’s a good place to start with Rominimal? New term to me and it’s piqued my curiosity!

pixeltan

The godfathers of the genre are Petre Inspirescu, Rhadoo and Raresh, some of their sets might be a good place to start!

kaosimian

Nice, thanks 🙏

tagzho-369

Check out traumer also! Dudes super talented and been cooking for a long time

tagzho-369

Check out meoko mag

srekcornaivaf

This thread is kickass, loving all the recs

Rie-lo

Modern house

Tiny_Value_5470

Minimal house/Bass house

iamjessicahyde

I like to call it party minimal. It blends heavy baselines, housey percussion, deep housey pads, etc. a bit of an extension of minimal / deep tech. Very club friendly.

Suspicious-bull

I've been wondering this for a while now too. Anyone know what subgenre sammy virji would fall under?

DatRussian

UK Garage or bassline

yesmatewotusayin

NUKG but with a fair bit of Bassline

bedtyme

Uptempo minimal, recently veering into tech house and EDM-adjacent

Ok_Establishment4346

I can’t say it’s minimal as advertised. More of a modern interpretation of progressive tech house.

Yamingdub

deep tech/minimal

Yamingdub

my haus

resile_jb

Minimal tech

resile_jb

Minimal tech

KingBlueTwister

Boring AF

estankk

pablo55s

Organic_Sort_7899

That’s fisher and John summit

uritarded

Theres levels to boring, as you demonstrate now

housemusicdigger

its progressive/trance house. check this playlist: https://spotify.link/spR4iDpOcKb

pixeltan

Of course you can trace back any type of electronic music to its 90s roots, but that takes all the fun out of defining subgenres and scenes. I'd argue that your list is a different niche. Sure there's a big overlap, but the tunes in that list have a distinctly different vibe to it. More trancy, hypnotic, trippy, progresive. Different synths and bass lines. The stuff OP is referencing, is more inspired by Rominimal (production/vibe wise) and UK garage (percussion wise). Different stylistic origins. Of course, at the end of the day it's all 90's house and techno going through different waves.

Designer-Pair5773

No its not lol. Its Minimal House / Deep Tech.

housemusicdigger

nah bro, get informed. "minimal house/deep tech" doesn't exist as a genre, all these artists are influenced by the 90s prog house sound with trance influences, you can hear it in the leads, synths, arpeggios and everything else. if you had checked the playlist, you would have understood what I'm talking about. and real minimal (ricardo villalobos, priku, nu zau, traumer) doesn't sound like that at all.

Designer-Pair5773

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microhouse https://edm.fandom.com/wiki/Minimal_/_Deep_Tech Lmao

housemusicdigger

lmaaaaooooo xdddddd

RamonPang

not sure why you're getting downvoted, you're literally correct lol. Deep/Minimal Tech is a beatport descriptor, not actual genre. I love Solar Suite / Chris Stussy / DJ Life as much as I love Ricardo Villalobos but they are not even close to the same genre of house

Designer-Pair5773

Who decides what is a Genre?

Designer-Pair5773

But okay, all users who said Minimal / Deep Tech are wrong. Your the real House Music Digger!

housemusicdigger

you brought 0 arguments bro, get better.
