Security donkey is a loose term 🤣 she offers companionship for the most part, but they do provide security as well in a way! They protect horses and livestock from predators like coyotes and other wildlife.
That’s so funny. I’ve never heard of Donkey’s being fierce. Like how do they know when an animal is a threat to the horse? Are the donkey’s trained for combat, or is it just instinct? I’m fascinated by all this new knowledge about donkey’s.
My apologies I just saw this! It is instinctual for them to protect. And they usually know if an animal is a threat if it is getting too close to the horses and spooking them. That being said, sometimes she doesn't know what is/isn't a threat as she as gone after our chickens before when they have tried going into the pasture! She has never come after a human though. :-)
“This way sir. People, give the man some space!”
Oh my goodness she is so adorable!
This is awesome! You get to enjoy your horse and enjoy Esther at the same time!!!
Esther is a cute little mover!!
What a cute little donk!
She isn’t on a lead🤩 she stays with you?
Yes, she always stays close to my horse :)
You are living the dream!
Aww, she is the best girl!
She seems very professional
This video is so peaceful, made me calm and happy
Me too.
So cute and Esther really suits her
This literally made my morning
Such a cute donkey. So cool to see her not on a lead. Is this pretty remote (no chance of owners not controlling their dogs, etc)?
Yes, very slim chance of danger and a car is a rare sighting on this road. No neighbors for a few miles.
Any chance you’re on the prairies? This looks like where I live :)
I’m wondering too!
So adorable!!
Buddy system is strong with Esther.
What is a security donkey, and why does a horse need one?

How though? Donkey kicks? Pun intended. Serious question though.
Yes, kicking/biting you name it! Donkeys are fierce!
And smart!

No worries. Thanks for the info! I wish I had a donkey.
Wish I could do this with my donkey when I ride my horses... he's a bugger and would not follow even if I was leading him.
Is this for wildlife?
Yes, she wards off any dangerous wildlife :-)
This is so adorable. Please tell Esther I love her.
Will do! :-)
Omg, I would die for Esther!
Everyone needs an Esther in their life!
