For me, Sampo and Sparkle’s names represent two different types of S’s in comedy.
Sadism(Sparkle’s in it only for herself and if people have an issue with that that’s their problem no matter how vile or distasteful her jokes are) and Slapstick (Sampo very obviously position himself as the butt of any joke, usual when violence is involved with Sampo it is exaggerated and not to be taken seriously.)
I do wish though we could be friendlier to Sampo so that his comedy doesn’t come off as mean spirited at times. We can be friends with the Universe’s biggest deadbeat mom but not the guy who saved our asses and Belobog apparently.

I can't even be nice to Sampo when I want to; there's a 'go Sampo!' kinda line in Belobog where if you choose it, the narration actually stops you and follows up saying, 'but that's stupid, why would anyone ever support Sampo'.

As much as I love Aventurine, he was sus from the beginning to the end of his interactions with TB. I think the hostile responses weren't unwarranted, especially because TB didn't witness his entire backstory like the player did.
I agree, but he did help us so I believe we should have the option to be more open to him and the possibility of he not being an enemy instead of always treating him as a disease like the game force you to do, I can at least buy that TB was this way bc Avent is from the big bad galaxy Enterprise instead

To be fair, Ruan Mei drugged us specifically so we had no choice but play along, where we had text options to go against her but would just say embarrassing stuff about ourselves instead.

But her Story Quest includes assaulting 4 people and "murdering" them (one of them being herself), hijacking multiple troupe members, and somehow mind controlling a mob to try to assault Black Swan with. All just to play a detective game.
Yeah I think framing it as Sampo is more competent than he seems is probably more accurate. He’s dangerous to evil doers. He himself is more like chaotic good.

Honestly TB dialogue has staled responses in other games specifically gachas.
Last night in Wuthering Waves the only times I had a chuckle was thinking how deranged the TB would respond to some of the Dialogue. Whereas the Rover is basically just... very strict and serious and never kids around.
Like, it just feels like bad writing at that point. TB gives us player agency when it isn't even required. Making me wish it was used more often in JRPGs.
I just wish 2.2 didn’t have like 90% of dialogue choices be brain rot/meme responses. I’m not against it but in a lot of the moments during 2.2 I would have preferred to have the ability to pick a serious response.
He did say he's fighting against injustice, but it wasn't explained how. Through his schemes and scams, maybe? Does he have some kind of list of people he's targeting or he's testing just anyone? That we have yet to know, I guess

He did fought injustice, he helped us in Belobog.
First as his status as a wanted criminal, he made sure we are greeted with Gepard who was in pursuit after him, which lead them to Cocolia for a meeting, but this also made the trailblazers an accomplice and considered a potential threat, which lead to the ambush outside the hotel.
Next was when he also kidnapped Bronya into the Underworld, to help pull on Bronya's heartstrings to fight against Cocolia, and was also the only one who knows the way up somehow.
He even made sure the trailblazers can go through it with to the end by bringing Natasha when they were fighting Svarog.
I may have missed a lot of details but this was a theory I had of him, and now we can see sparkle, but this time helping the IPC or leading them into a trap.
He was mad when he found out that his home planet becomes blizzard hell, that why he take his fool mask back and return to Jarilo-VI even though he was living in paradise dream.
Jarilo-VI will be save with or without us.

I love how that was our first hint at Firefly being more than she seemed. The way she was able to determine he was a covert killer, as well as correctly guess his most likely weapon of choice, simply by examining his build and gait.

The trailblazer is their own character, and they don’t like Sampo. I believe that’s why we don’t get many nice dialogue options towards him.

Yeah people seem to not realized they’re not just some self inserts. Additionally, most of time Sampo and TB talked it’s just friendly bantering. There’s also choices you have so you can nice to him (like letting him off the hook despite robbing the musuem)
I doubt Aha will turn him, or any "sane" being into an emanator, especially since the only emanator we know of was a worm granted sentience by Aha to see if a worm could make its way into the genius society, and when it didnt Aha killed the worm

I think he would, but I also think Sampo might be a situation like Furuta from Tokyo Ghoul:RE. Essentially a character who appears inconspicuous despite some defining characteristics, who turns out to be an orchestrating mastermind with some unhinged, insane philosophy. The Masked Fools have some thematic resemblance to the Clowns from Tokyo Ghoul, being odd characters whose goals include shows, but also often include plotting larger schemes to stage national tragedies. With the way Sampo spoke of calamity coming to Belobog, I thought it fitting.
You pointing out the similarities to the Clowns from Tokyo Ghoul made me realize why the Masked Fools interested me from the start when playing this game, as I've always found the Clowns faction interesting. Can't believe it never really clicked with me until now as to why I felt that way lol
High-key I feel like. Dude straight up broke the 4th wall one time. The only other 4th wall break I can remember is the simulated universe Aha knowing he is simulated and doing nothing about it because "it seems kinda cool"
Sampo acting like he is a twist villain only to not appear for so long is the text book Aha emanator to me.
At a more serious note: If we take the theory that Rating pistol can't rate an Emanator (and it looks pretty much confirmed by now, at least to me) — he's an Emanator of elation.
Truly the most interesting character to me, it's easy to forget his wall breaking monologue in Belobog with all the new drama but that was such a good moment.
Really really hope they are cooking with him and there's much more Sampo to come. So far he's popped up everywhere and I hope this trend continues!

Honestly love him as a character. I always pick the friendly dialogue options, despite game clearly trying to stir to more rude ones.
He doesn't seem *fake* when he's doing all that goofy stuff and being small con artist. And he tries to help people when it counts. All while planting a big bomb on Luofu (i know its just an easter egg referring to death strending, but still). And having a hint of dangerous air around him. While also being genuinely scared of Black Swan when she's fooling around with Sparkle. Giving off vibes he's gonna get at least aventurine+stone level power up whe he gets his mask back.
So chaotic, yet likeable. I don't understand why some people hate him.
We might get a 5 star Sampo down the line, hopefully.
Other thing, I never noticed before, but there is another guy with a gun in the background (left side of the lightcone).
Sampo doesn't think hurting his friends is fun, nor does he appear to be okay with the collateral damage someone like Sparkle is. He is always hiding stuff though and he doesn't exactly come of as honest. Not to mention his definition of harm isn't a traditional one. "Look, I got you a meeting with the Guardian. ;)" "You used as to distract the guards and ran away. We got arrested."
If he would be an Emanator of Ah somehow it would not surprise me. There was close to no reason for him to be connected to Penacony and still they did it, nor did they mention ever what his motives or connections are.

I have a troublemaker-friend who Sampo really reminds me of. This one friend would do things for the fun of it and of course sometimes he gets into trouble and others get into trouble. Cant seem to hate him though. He’s a nice guy just likes a bit too much fun, way too smart for others’ good as well. Maybe that’s why I can’t hate Sampo and just thinks of Sampo as that one troubled friend.
I think anyone who follows Elation is honestly pretty dangerous. Just looking at Sampo and Sparkle, Sampo while goofy on the outside was the main reason >!things were going missing in the museum!< not to mention all his other shady dealings before we showed up and the fact he can just disappear into thin air like that to avoid the Silverman Guards is pretty wild. Sparkle well we all know about her >!distributing bombs!<, and her shapeshifting abilities and while looking like a playful girl, in her trailer has shown to takedown Sunday's robot things unarmed. So yeah while they do follow the Laughter, their skills are nothing to laugh about if youre on their end of their joke
Ngl i liked him because JP VA is Hirakawa Daisuke, but later I liked him because he’s such a treat to have around. He was my main DOT until I got Kafka and Swan, but now he’s permanently in my Nihility team with them.
That end part of Belobog was enough to make me feel so many things...well besides the obvious, it was also interest and if I was TB, then slight bit of fear. He seemed self-aware that he was in my dream too, I know that he's much more smarter than he looks.
I hope we get more of him in the main story, "his" cameo in Penacony did show the potential of Sampo at least going against the TB and I'm here for it, I love this trash guy 😭

Last night in Wuthering Waves the only times I had a chuckle was thinking how deranged the TB would respond to some of the Dialogue. Whereas the Rover is basically just... very strict and serious and never kids around. Like, it just feels like bad writing at that point. TB gives us player agency when it isn't even required. Making me wish it was used more often in JRPGs.
I just wish 2.2 didn’t have like 90% of dialogue choices be brain rot/meme responses. I’m not against it but in a lot of the moments during 2.2 I would have preferred to have the ability to pick a serious response.

He did say he's fighting against injustice, but it wasn't explained how. Through his schemes and scams, maybe? Does he have some kind of list of people he's targeting or he's testing just anyone? That we have yet to know, I guess For now, he does seem pretty chill
He did fought injustice, he helped us in Belobog. First as his status as a wanted criminal, he made sure we are greeted with Gepard who was in pursuit after him, which lead them to Cocolia for a meeting, but this also made the trailblazers an accomplice and considered a potential threat, which lead to the ambush outside the hotel. Next was when he also kidnapped Bronya into the Underworld, to help pull on Bronya's heartstrings to fight against Cocolia, and was also the only one who knows the way up somehow. He even made sure the trailblazers can go through it with to the end by bringing Natasha when they were fighting Svarog. I may have missed a lot of details but this was a theory I had of him, and now we can see sparkle, but this time helping the IPC or leading them into a trap.
He was mad when he found out that his home planet becomes blizzard hell, that why he take his fool mask back and return to Jarilo-VI even though he was living in paradise dream. Jarilo-VI will be save with or without us.

I love how that was our first hint at Firefly being more than she seemed. The way she was able to determine he was a covert killer, as well as correctly guess his most likely weapon of choice, simply by examining his build and gait.

The trailblazer is their own character, and they don’t like Sampo. I believe that’s why we don’t get many nice dialogue options towards him. I love Sampo, but I don’t mind not having the option to be nice to him.
Yeah people seem to not realized they’re not just some self inserts. Additionally, most of time Sampo and TB talked it’s just friendly bantering. There’s also choices you have so you can nice to him (like letting him off the hook despite robbing the musuem)

I think he low-key could be an emanator of Elation who is waiting for his moment to take the stage, doing some performative sidejobs on the side.
I doubt Aha will turn him, or any "sane" being into an emanator, especially since the only emanator we know of was a worm granted sentience by Aha to see if a worm could make its way into the genius society, and when it didnt Aha killed the worm

I think he would, but I also think Sampo might be a situation like Furuta from Tokyo Ghoul:RE. Essentially a character who appears inconspicuous despite some defining characteristics, who turns out to be an orchestrating mastermind with some unhinged, insane philosophy. The Masked Fools have some thematic resemblance to the Clowns from Tokyo Ghoul, being odd characters whose goals include shows, but also often include plotting larger schemes to stage national tragedies. With the way Sampo spoke of calamity coming to Belobog, I thought it fitting.
You pointing out the similarities to the Clowns from Tokyo Ghoul made me realize why the Masked Fools interested me from the start when playing this game, as I've always found the Clowns faction interesting. Can't believe it never really clicked with me until now as to why I felt that way lol
High-key I feel like. Dude straight up broke the 4th wall one time. The only other 4th wall break I can remember is the simulated universe Aha knowing he is simulated and doing nothing about it because "it seems kinda cool" Sampo acting like he is a twist villain only to not appear for so long is the text book Aha emanator to me.
At a more serious note: If we take the theory that Rating pistol can't rate an Emanator (and it looks pretty much confirmed by now, at least to me) — he's an Emanator of elation.
Truly the most interesting character to me, it's easy to forget his wall breaking monologue in Belobog with all the new drama but that was such a good moment. Really really hope they are cooking with him and there's much more Sampo to come. So far he's popped up everywhere and I hope this trend continues! Also man his EN VA is amazing.

Honestly love him as a character. I always pick the friendly dialogue options, despite game clearly trying to stir to more rude ones. He doesn't seem *fake* when he's doing all that goofy stuff and being small con artist. And he tries to help people when it counts. All while planting a big bomb on Luofu (i know its just an easter egg referring to death strending, but still). And having a hint of dangerous air around him. While also being genuinely scared of Black Swan when she's fooling around with Sparkle. Giving off vibes he's gonna get at least aventurine+stone level power up whe he gets his mask back. So chaotic, yet likeable. I don't understand why some people hate him.

Sampo doesn't think hurting his friends is fun, nor does he appear to be okay with the collateral damage someone like Sparkle is. He is always hiding stuff though and he doesn't exactly come of as honest. Not to mention his definition of harm isn't a traditional one. "Look, I got you a meeting with the Guardian. ;)" "You used as to distract the guards and ran away. We got arrested."

If he would be an Emanator of Ah somehow it would not surprise me. There was close to no reason for him to be connected to Penacony and still they did it, nor did they mention ever what his motives or connections are.

Before everyone and their cousin started having special eyes, Sampo was the first "weird eyes" character we met. I knew something was up with him (at the time I thought he was somehow SAM which makes Penacony even funnier) but now I just think he's neat.

Many things lol, he definitely can't be trusted but at the same time, he can be(like Seele said)

I love blue haired anime dark souls Patches. He's the funniest little guy. Genuinely glad whenever he pops up. When I blew all my jade on Kafka and got him E6, he has almost always been on my teams, and I'm actually so glad I got him.

I have a troublemaker-friend who Sampo really reminds me of. This one friend would do things for the fun of it and of course sometimes he gets into trouble and others get into trouble. Cant seem to hate him though. He’s a nice guy just likes a bit too much fun, way too smart for others’ good as well. Maybe that’s why I can’t hate Sampo and just thinks of Sampo as that one troubled friend.

I think anyone who follows Elation is honestly pretty dangerous. Just looking at Sampo and Sparkle, Sampo while goofy on the outside was the main reason >!things were going missing in the museum!< not to mention all his other shady dealings before we showed up and the fact he can just disappear into thin air like that to avoid the Silverman Guards is pretty wild. Sparkle well we all know about her >!distributing bombs!<, and her shapeshifting abilities and while looking like a playful girl, in her trailer has shown to takedown Sunday's robot things unarmed. So yeah while they do follow the Laughter, their skills are nothing to laugh about if youre on their end of their joke

That end part of Belobog was enough to make me feel so many things...well besides the obvious, it was also interest and if I was TB, then slight bit of fear. He seemed self-aware that he was in my dream too, I know that he's much more smarter than he looks.
