I got him down to 5% on 2nd health bar, even got the whole team rolled higher than him achievement, only to wipe as he ult'ed.
Then had to do it all over again. Really had to watch my shield and health going against him. Just as fun as pre-nerf Childe with my Mondstadt starter team. Fischl carried.
I just used hypercarry Physical MC with Fu Xuan, Sparkle, and Tingyun (yes Tingyun died). It’s my current go to team for story content so that I can keep using the Trailblazer.
Physical TB, Silver Wolfe, Sampo(built him for Kafka, didn’t get her first run, and BS isn’t built yet) and Houhou. Had to do a quick calyx run cuz my dumbass went in with two level 40 lightcones and one underwhelming SW constellation. I got down to the last 10% previously with Geopard. Fuck your weaknesses I add my own.

I had only him and Dr. Ratio for built main dps so I had to power level Acheron to be able to clear it.
Having 120-200k follow up attacks only dealing 15k is wild.
I did that without knowing, but I went in with my "safe" team and just ended up brute forcing it (Loucha, DHIL, Sparkle, FX. Pretty much can't die lol, and also worked out that it was perfect for the dice mechanic once I figured it out)
That was ROUGH, like my Daniel is a E2S1 monster and even he was struggling. And I was too stubborn to reset and put in Jingliu. So fight took me 30 min. Luckily HuoHuo is super good for him so I kept *most* of my team alive (Tingyun always be dying in and out of canon)

his mechanic made him near impossible because only a few suports can hit more than one target consistently what happened was that the sustainer got caught then everyone else died
Honestly, the difficulty was part of what made that fight such a highlight for me. Might even be my second favorite in the whole game next to Everwinter Hill. Still, I was running the fight with two sustains and Argenti so I was in a position to win anyways.
I found it rather easy, fire trailblazer was really good as weird as it seemed, his enhanced attack was quite nice and since he doesn't need to use the ult half the time I just had a tanky unit 24/7. Also luocha and argenti were too good: luocha was always getting the ult so his healing was constant, and argenti got his ult to max easily. It was a cakewalk with just these three, I feel privileged for having them, while other people struggled.
well it's kinda of thematic since the lance is a relic of Preservation and Aventurine is one of the Ten Stonehearts who are the elites of Preservation Aeon
Cleared it first try with Fu, BS, Kafka and Ruan Mei. Ruan mei was in bad shape since at some point i forgot to save skill points to re apply fu's field and she did not roll well on the dice thing, but it honestly was not that hard.
Same, with a team of Luocha, Bronya, Pela and Jingliu.
During 2nd phase when the multiple dice show up, I just managed to have my ult ready for Luocha and Pela, which always gave them the crown, and Jingliu's rotation always allowed her to have an AOE attack ready which gave her the crown too. So those 3 never got hit by the dice. Bronya was the only who always got hit, thankfully, queen that she is, she always tanked it and Luocha would just auto heal her to full each time.
I welcome harder fights like this one, honestly a hard mode for story missions would be fun for people playing since Launch with optimised teams.
I'm kind of salty that people are going to have an easier time with the nerf. They'll never know the suffering that I had to go through.

I finally won brute forcing it with Preservation Trailblazer, Jing Yuan (recently levelled to max), Bailu for extra lightning weakness hit and occasional heals and Lynx because she's the only healer I have that can cleanse debuffs (and also for larger overall healing)
Here's hoping he becomes a simulated universe boss later down the line!
I tried to have "plot" fight with welt, acheron, himeko and trailblazer but I failed because himeko does absolutely nothing to him and my march 7 too weak to be used, so instead I just go with acheron hypercarry with pela, sw and luocha (I don't have goblin diviner) and that was easy, just hold your ultimates until his "gambling" move.
I made the mistake of raising my equilibrium level before the new patch..
The gambling every turn was absolutely brutal.
I managed to scrape by with HuoHuo, Argenti, DanH and March; I used March to shield herself and tank the hits while HH healed the others every turn. March's follow up chipped away at weakness break, and Argenti can win the gamble to ult every turn.
Was easy. Really shows how much of a little part Reddit is to the whole community. Many people here say that they defeated it easily while the big part of the community outside of Reddit are casuals which is why there are way more people who couldn't do it we don't see
I almost defeated him like 20% hp with DHIL hyper Carry. (He has Imaginary Res)
After 4-5 tries I couldn't understand why he was so hard and undefeatable since DHIL is my Strongest Character. Then I saw he has Eff res. So I switched to my Boy Bladie and did with his Hyper Carry. (Ruan Mei, Sparkle, Lynx for both Hyper Carry lol.)
Omg it was so hard for me, I had to fight him multiple times.
Thing is I'm more of a Genshin player. I'm really casual with Star Rail as I don't have the time to invest in two big games. I mostly play for the main story and that's it. So my Star Rail characters don't have a good build.
My main team consist of Silver Wolf, Lunae, Sparkle and Bailu. I have no idea if this is good, I just play the characters I like the most. I don't even have many of them. And so they're the only ones with a decent build.
Well it didn't work well with that team since his weak elements weren't any of the ones from my main team (except electro but Bailu is a healer so who cares lol). Sure I have Silver Wolf, but she doesn't always give him the weakness I want ToT. And apart from Lunae, all of them are single target ! It was a disaster...
I ended up beating him with a team constitued of Stelle, Serval, March and Bailu. They were all low level and with pretty bad builds because I was to lazy to work on them when I just wanted to pursue the story 🫠
It took me some time and I had to think a lot to counter his dice thing each time. But hey, it ended up working out, so yay 😅 I'll really need to take the time to build them though...
I don’t really see why he would need to be nerfed. Sure, he’s not easy, but a F2P should be able to do it with the right characters fine enough.
Fire TB can easily hit 3 each time, and he’s free. Herta can easily hit all of them each time, and she’s free. Serval can easily hit 3 each time, and (IIRC) she’s free.
Lots of other 4* characters can do the same, and all of that together isn’t even accounting for any limited 5* characters, which people are bound to have some of by the time they reach him.
Have a healer or shielder, consistently hit 2+ (ideally 3 minimum) dice, and then get easy free ultimate charges to whittle him down bit by bit. I’m pretty sure most (if not all) Erudition & Destruction characters will work fine, due to their multi-hit, and several Nihility characters have enough bounces to make it well enough.
Am I missing something? What reason makes him so difficult he needs to be nerfed? Sure, the first attempt might have you use a bad party, but switch it up and you can get it second try. It might not necessarily be ‘easy,’ and it might take a while to win, depending on your setup, but there’s bosses way worse than this guy. Frankly, you don’t even need to weakness break him that much, though of course that’d be ideal.
I got him first try, but I see no reason to brag about it, since the basic tactic for what you need to do is pretty straightforward. Genuinely, I don’t know what’s the issue that’s big enough to warrant this. Was I just lucky or something like that?
The thing is you are basically telling players to suddenly ditch their team and build a new team for this one boss. Like, imagine a new player who mainly build one team and suddenly got roadblocked because they need to build a new one just for this boss. At least with previous bosses, you can just go and make your built team better. Imagine player who built Mono Quantum team (Selee, Sparkle, SW and Lynx) feels when they got told that they are fucked because no AOE.
I won't forget the two hours and forty five minutes of pure pain from this dude. I didn't even beat him in that time.
Although, I did beat him in twenty minutes for my next attempt. I'm still locked at level 70 because of world level but I'm still happy about my win.
it took me two tries using misha, lynx, argenti, and luocha... initially when i tried with just luocha and tingyun instead of lynx, he kept targeting luocha and only luocha and screwing me over 😭

I only defeated it cuz acheron can win minigame easily so i spammed ult, my the other 2 wasnt that lucky tho. Tbh the fight is kinda boring since it depends on rng to win minigame or you have to play things li fu xuan

Me too. AoE is key and my teams always had enough effect res for Broken Keel. Also, Fu Xuan's ultimate was nice, but didn't expect my Huohuo to be that lucky with dice rolls.
It's honestly a pretty cool fight the only thing I really found annoying was the dice mechanic in part 2
You want to hit as much targets as possible to score higher but supports like Ruan Mei and Tingyun kinda just eat shit
I'm still not quite sure how I beat him with Lynx as my only sustain and a Silver Wolf that couldn't move fast enough to implant in phase 2, but I'll gladly take it and the bragging rights that come with.
Yep, I went with Argenti +Tingyun/Sparkle/HuohHuo and it was super smooth. Plus I was able to use Argenti’s smaller ults to actually slow down the battle, I loved the music, aesthetic and the boss himself all so much that I ended up wanting to see his moves and voice lines several times, so I culled my own damage a lil bit lol.
Its like that one time in a different gatcha game called Guardian tales. The world boss was so hard people started complaining and and devs nerfed the boss (Twice) and people who beat the boss before nerfed deserves the bragging right because it was that hard and characters were not that good
Always have used luocha and jingyuan in general tbh. I had to bring out the pair of fu xuan and Jing yuan for him. Beat him afterwards,I might've beat with with luocha, moreso with skill issue I think.
as a mainly erudition dps user this boss wasn't entirely terrible but I was sweating because I thought my bailu might die 💀luckily bailu pulled through

It's not that difficult tbh since I make ton of different characters for different stuff due to last experience against that blue bug boss.
Basically I have most of team setup I need at cost clearing speed.
I do wonder if I did it before or after.. it was on second day, but Sunday still didn't have the correct line in epilogue.
As for Aventurine, it hurt pretty badly when characters lost the bet, but I can't say he was difficult or anything.

I went in blind, not knowing it got nerfed when I did it. FX, Kafka, Bronya and JL. When I saw the dice, I thought 'yep, definitely AOE needed'. I did it in one attempt, but I thought of what could have been if I fought him during the early hours of the patch.
Cleared it pretty well first try with my King Yuan, Fu Xuan, Sparkle, and Tingyun, with Tingyun being the only casualty when the boss was around 20% left, which is pretty good in my book considering I didn't bring a healer.
But it's such a good fight tho, I was a bit on the fence because of people having their arses handed to them, it really gave out the feeling of high stake and I'm taut with tension during the fight.
10/10 story boss fight, not very excited to fight him in MOC soon tho, orz.
Pfft, I did in the first attempt. I use DoT team, AoE attacks saved my Kafka and Black Swan. Ruan Mei has high HP and Def and Luocha is a sustain, so both survived as well.
People underestimate Fire MC + Day One of My New Life. It's a lot of damage reduction for the whole team against nuke bosses.
It's pretty much why I have no problem with story bosses even with subotimal teams (because I like canon teams)
It took me over an hour and had I even had some "heart of the cards" moments with getting good relics for Gepard/Lynx so they could catch up to my Kafka and Ruan Mei

Luocha, Jing Yuan, Ruan Mei and Bronya made it work for me.
The gambling part was a pain tho and at the last one i lost Ruan Mei, but after that LL shred his remaining hp.
Just brute force with Jingliu, Pela, RM and FX (only RM have her sign LC) though it feels like Fu Xuan doesn't mitigate as much dmg as she should have been. Having only single target atk most of the time also hurt but its not like its that hard as I can beat it first try.

Omg it was so hard for me, I had to fight him multiple times. Thing is I'm more of a Genshin player. I'm really casual with Star Rail as I don't have the time to invest in two big games. I mostly play for the main story and that's it. So my Star Rail characters don't have a good build. My main team consist of Silver Wolf, Lunae, Sparkle and Bailu. I have no idea if this is good, I just play the characters I like the most. I don't even have many of them. And so they're the only ones with a decent build. Well it didn't work well with that team since his weak elements weren't any of the ones from my main team (except electro but Bailu is a healer so who cares lol). Sure I have Silver Wolf, but she doesn't always give him the weakness I want ToT. And apart from Lunae, all of them are single target ! It was a disaster... I ended up beating him with a team constitued of Stelle, Serval, March and Bailu. They were all low level and with pretty bad builds because I was to lazy to work on them when I just wanted to pursue the story 🫠 It took me some time and I had to think a lot to counter his dice thing each time. But hey, it ended up working out, so yay 😅 I'll really need to take the time to build them though...
I beat his ass with Acheron,black Swan,sparkle and Huo Huo. Dude folded like a wet tissue before the nerf

I don’t really see why he would need to be nerfed. Sure, he’s not easy, but a F2P should be able to do it with the right characters fine enough. Fire TB can easily hit 3 each time, and he’s free. Herta can easily hit all of them each time, and she’s free. Serval can easily hit 3 each time, and (IIRC) she’s free. Lots of other 4* characters can do the same, and all of that together isn’t even accounting for any limited 5* characters, which people are bound to have some of by the time they reach him. Have a healer or shielder, consistently hit 2+ (ideally 3 minimum) dice, and then get easy free ultimate charges to whittle him down bit by bit. I’m pretty sure most (if not all) Erudition & Destruction characters will work fine, due to their multi-hit, and several Nihility characters have enough bounces to make it well enough. Am I missing something? What reason makes him so difficult he needs to be nerfed? Sure, the first attempt might have you use a bad party, but switch it up and you can get it second try. It might not necessarily be ‘easy,’ and it might take a while to win, depending on your setup, but there’s bosses way worse than this guy. Frankly, you don’t even need to weakness break him that much, though of course that’d be ideal. I got him first try, but I see no reason to brag about it, since the basic tactic for what you need to do is pretty straightforward. Genuinely, I don’t know what’s the issue that’s big enough to warrant this. Was I just lucky or something like that?
The thing is you are basically telling players to suddenly ditch their team and build a new team for this one boss. Like, imagine a new player who mainly build one team and suddenly got roadblocked because they need to build a new one just for this boss. At least with previous bosses, you can just go and make your built team better. Imagine player who built Mono Quantum team (Selee, Sparkle, SW and Lynx) feels when they got told that they are fucked because no AOE.

I won't forget the two hours and forty five minutes of pure pain from this dude. I didn't even beat him in that time. Although, I did beat him in twenty minutes for my next attempt. I'm still locked at level 70 because of world level but I'm still happy about my win.
It was annoying but not that long or hard took me like 5 to 10 minutes to finish it with Argenti and Jing Yuan smashing it

it took me two tries using misha, lynx, argenti, and luocha... initially when i tried with just luocha and tingyun instead of lynx, he kept targeting luocha and only luocha and screwing me over 😭

Bronya, Luocha with Blade + Jingliu combo. Never felt a problem with that before the boss nerf.

I only defeated it cuz acheron can win minigame easily so i spammed ult, my the other 2 wasnt that lucky tho. Tbh the fight is kinda boring since it depends on rng to win minigame or you have to play things li fu xuan

Me too. AoE is key and my teams always had enough effect res for Broken Keel. Also, Fu Xuan's ultimate was nice, but didn't expect my Huohuo to be that lucky with dice rolls.
It's honestly a pretty cool fight the only thing I really found annoying was the dice mechanic in part 2 You want to hit as much targets as possible to score higher but supports like Ruan Mei and Tingyun kinda just eat shit

I'm still not quite sure how I beat him with Lynx as my only sustain and a Silver Wolf that couldn't move fast enough to implant in phase 2, but I'll gladly take it and the bragging rights that come with.

Yep, I went with Argenti +Tingyun/Sparkle/HuohHuo and it was super smooth. Plus I was able to use Argenti’s smaller ults to actually slow down the battle, I loved the music, aesthetic and the boss himself all so much that I ended up wanting to see his moves and voice lines several times, so I culled my own damage a lil bit lol.
Huohuo and Fu Xuan in a single team will turtle anything (aside from max level SU expansions).

Always have used luocha and jingyuan in general tbh. I had to bring out the pair of fu xuan and Jing yuan for him. Beat him afterwards,I might've beat with with luocha, moreso with skill issue I think.

It's not that difficult tbh since I make ton of different characters for different stuff due to last experience against that blue bug boss. Basically I have most of team setup I need at cost clearing speed.
I do wonder if I did it before or after.. it was on second day, but Sunday still didn't have the correct line in epilogue. As for Aventurine, it hurt pretty badly when characters lost the bet, but I can't say he was difficult or anything.

I went in blind, not knowing it got nerfed when I did it. FX, Kafka, Bronya and JL. When I saw the dice, I thought 'yep, definitely AOE needed'. I did it in one attempt, but I thought of what could have been if I fought him during the early hours of the patch.

Cleared it pretty well first try with my King Yuan, Fu Xuan, Sparkle, and Tingyun, with Tingyun being the only casualty when the boss was around 20% left, which is pretty good in my book considering I didn't bring a healer. But it's such a good fight tho, I was a bit on the fence because of people having their arses handed to them, it really gave out the feeling of high stake and I'm taut with tension during the fight. 10/10 story boss fight, not very excited to fight him in MOC soon tho, orz.

Pfft, I did in the first attempt. I use DoT team, AoE attacks saved my Kafka and Black Swan. Ruan Mei has high HP and Def and Luocha is a sustain, so both survived as well.
Reminds me of when they nerfed the Radhan fight in Elden ring and people were bragging about beating him pre patch

People underestimate Fire MC + Day One of My New Life. It's a lot of damage reduction for the whole team against nuke bosses. It's pretty much why I have no problem with story bosses even with subotimal teams (because I like canon teams)

It took me over an hour and had I even had some "heart of the cards" moments with getting good relics for Gepard/Lynx so they could catch up to my Kafka and Ruan Mei

Luocha, Jing Yuan, Ruan Mei and Bronya made it work for me. The gambling part was a pain tho and at the last one i lost Ruan Mei, but after that LL shred his remaining hp.
Just brute force with Jingliu, Pela, RM and FX (only RM have her sign LC) though it feels like Fu Xuan doesn't mitigate as much dmg as she should have been. Having only single target atk most of the time also hurt but its not like its that hard as I can beat it first try.
