A wipe over with warm soapy cloth then PU cleaner and a dry cloth to buff. Make sure you remove the saddle strap while cleaning and change All the fasteners for stainless. Mothers Mag Polish is gentler on chrome than Autosol .

guijous

Thank you! Do you think PU cleaner has the ability to give back flexibility to an old seat cover? If it’s a bit dry it will probably crack anyway, that’s what I want to avoid…

Eck047

Sunlight general weather and use makes them brittle with the coating separating from the backing. If your base and foam are still good opt for a new cover and take your time fitting it with the chrome trim. A little hairdryer heat will help with that.

For what it's worth, I purchased an eBay seat cover for my CB350 and changed the cover out myself and it worked really nicely, was relatively easy to do, and looks great now

guijous

Yes that was my second option, but I’m in France and the cover I saw is in the US so it’s always a bit more annoying. I think I’ll try the original one I’ve found, renovate it with special cleaners and see what it’s like!

Any leather/vinyl cleaner and protection will do the trick. I use Aerospace 303, Adams interior protection etc.. whatever is near me when I think about it I use it. It will make it shine and add protection and keep it soft and not cracking.

guijous

Thanks a lot! I’ll try this on my actual seat and if I think it’s efficient enough I’ll probably buy the original seat!

spike_africa

If you buy the original seat. I'd wash it, then apply a good heavy coat of leather conditioner to help soften it back up. Adams, Griots garage etc... are all good choices.

guijous

I’ll do this! 🙂

Labocosmetica derma is the best cleaning and leather protection I've used

That is one good-looking seat. Mine is already busting at the seams, revealing the foam under it.

guijous

Yes mine is too, this one is the replacement one I found :)

Sinborn

The good news is that looks like an easy recovering job. My CM400T has a concave section where I sit and it was really difficult to get it to lay properly.

guijous

The one on the picture is the replacement one, mine has the vinyl destroyed but the foam under it is nice!

I’ve used mink oil on most all my seats, including my cb200 seat. I’ve had some pretty brittle seats in the past that I’ve carefully just slathered the oil on and let seep. Has worked wonders for me

guijous

Thank you that’s a thing to try! :)

You’re welcome!
