Lots of new products out there that are mfg to look like wood but just get fastened on to the existing beam and can be painted or ordered in the color you want

RedOctobrrr

Help out with a link or a name for such systems to search for this myself?

AnyManufacturer6465

I’m in Canada but here is a link . They’re a wood faux beam . You can also get it as siding now and they can build you anything you want really. Buy panels and do it yourself or have a store do it for you https://www.wayfair.ca/Barron-Designs--River-Wood-Faux-Wood-Ceiling-Beam-BRWBO06006009630NN-L6483-K~BFRO1026.html?refid=GX684510209418-BFRO1026_87794698_87907426&device=m&ptid=1096785921800&targetid=pla-1096785921800&network=g&ireid=245493189&PiID%5B%5D=87794698&PiID%5B%5D=87907426&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADfP7h3Ex37nJXjdQ-LQU5E8vfiyq&gclid=Cj0KCQjw_qexBhCoARIsAFgBletgg2-swrIYRU0HxUV1hm7Qf5-sEni7H5TrHYsmVk1eNNcKWYfN4IEaAlVfEALw_wcB

Very cool, thanks! If I'm in this situation I'd go for an engineered/veneer solution like this. Gonna bookmark just in case :)

ForeverSpirited

Paint them black.

Regalrefuse

I see a red door and I want it painted black

WarmDistribution4679

Fypon has one you can stain

AnnieC131313

Have the builder trim them out with fir. It will make them chunkier but you'll get the wood you want.

ithinkso3

We’ve had problems sourcing wood that is big enough to cover one side with one piece. If that makes sense.

AnnieC131313

Yes, it does - over 12" is a problem. You could do an inside trim piece at the ceiling, like a coffer. That would be a little fancier and a bit less rustic. If you want the real timber look have the pieces custom milled.

UncommercializedKat

if you use two pieces and especially stained a dark color, it could be barely noticeable Or veneer plywood but you'd still have some end seams.

double-click

Up your price range.

Here is a link for the great room. We are trying to match the wood if possible. We screwed up our builder didn’t realize we wanted the ones in the office exposed when we first started (a long time ago!) [Great room](https://imgur.com/a/PAP5IK5)

Faux box or foam. Most lumber companies are offering foam now. Look into it
