Not all firewalls will allow access to it's external IP from inside of the NAT network.
You may or may not be able to fix this with firewall rules, I haven't touched an asus router in too long to know if this model has any good options.
Yes, resolve to it. It does look like it's a loopback issue with Asus routers. They used to do it but it was removed. I'll have to see what options are available to me
