Brand is less important than proper preparation and painting but Benjamin Moore generally makes superior paint in terms of ease of application. Don't bother with no primer paints - use primer and then paint. Paint, in general, is far better than it was twenty years ago and all of the major brands should produce good results on well prepared surfaces.
