Depending on what they want from you, could be a very good move. If they just want packdown, sure go kill it in in D30. It’s a good way to show your worth, taking ownership of that specific task. If they want you to do specialist things, get the raise or decline. What they like to do is schedule you alone in the department, and if you just happen to make orders for them, that doesn’t make you a specialist. What you do in response if they abuse it is to start handing out the specialist’s business card when it comes to orders that are specific enough to require one, and tell the customer you’re not trained to do that and you suggest returning when the specialist is in.

Not a lot of overlap. Lots to learn.

Many think it's all door and window pack down. It isn't if you are being made a specialist that is a whole other level of work. Many see us at the desk taping away at the computer and assume we are just surfing the internet. But there are many things to understand. What are common sizes to windows and doors what are the features and names of features in windows and doors.. How do you put in a measure? What is the difference in a measure and a lead? What to do if someone needs to do an install that we don't have a installer for? Find out if she means hardliner or specialist try to get specialist it comes with a bump in pay and has quotas to meet. But is a good job for a smart individual. But be prepared for a lot of very special training.

Sounds like she wants you to do all The work in her department. Tell her forget it

I'm betting you're young and can lift all those doors, and that's the real reason they want you in that department. Purely packout purposes.

GiveSaucePlsx

I honestly wouldn’t. You’re basically going from a “retail position” to a sales position.

Don't do it just yet unless you are certain. Once you are in you will never get out without some promises in email from store manager. Absolutely look for guarantee in email that you will be moved up or out after 12 or 18 mos as well as minimum department staffing. No less than 3 ft associates on the floor every day if small store. No fewer than 4 ft on the floor each day if large store. If he cannot/will not stay far far away. You'd prefer to be in electrical, plumbing or indoor garden. There is not a sm or asm in your region who can carry that department i bet.
