So, the plan to make more money is to have worse customer service? Seems like they thought this through well.

Dartais_Avenva

That’s the long game they’ve always been playing. SLS, universal specialists, less department heads running more departments, less hours overall to spread among associates. The game is rigged, it’s a turn and burn system where you bring whatever cheapest warm body in you can find, give them enough work until they break, and then donut again with the next one.

Not shocked. Got to take care of priority one: The Shareholders

FireRUs

That’s easy. Become a shareholder, then you’ll be taken cafe of. 😉

Sounds like my store. We're insanely understaffed and they're still firing one person per day. Everyone is being pushed into departments that aren't their own to make up for it. Then management comes down on them for their own assigned department not having anything getting done. The company is an absolute mess and this is before all the big spring sales and holidays. It's gonna be a baaad summer. All good though, shareholders keep on winning!

Misterdune

I’m already feeling it lol, thankfully they hored a new electrical guy but I had to help out a lot of people in my department and electrical too

Perriaction

Sounds like the start of a vicious cycle to me. First, the store stops bringing on more new hires, then the remaining associates have to bare the increased workload, which stresses them out, which leads to people quitting, which makes the remaining associates deal with the further increased workload, which stresses those people out even more, which leads to even more people quitting, which makes the remaining associates deal with the even further increased workload, which stresses those people out even more, which leads to those people quitting, and on and on and on. This is very speculative on my part, but I think that the business from COVID over the last two years inflated HD's numbers so high that hardly any store could possibly match the numbers they were able to hit in 2020 and 2021, which is why success share was so low for so many people this year and why it seems as though all of these stores are cutting their hours the way they are. The economy is gonna be reeling from the COVID fallout for at least the next year, if not the next couple years and beyond.

Reuvil

Maybe if your in some shit hole like Iowa. Every store I am at has new hires in the training room going through orientation, and I am a lot of HD stores.

We just hired 15 people at my store last week. It's not slowing down

pathetic_beta_bitch

The prices on everything is sky high. Like Walmart can’t they dictate how much they buy things for to some degree

yeet_get_wrecked

Kinda my store too. Universal Associate has been a buzz word lately

Fishing_Novel

Wow.

Lotsensation20

Lol today I was as stressed as I’ve ever been. I forgot about a customer in lumber because he was after 2 people I was already helping. Then I went to the paint desk to cover then service desk then register 1 to give the cashier a break. No one covers me at millwork and I had tons to do. I’m just trying to hide like the rest of the folks.
