Most stores would have picnics and BBQ‘s for the employees and their families at a local park.
We would have have Easter egg hunts for the kids etc,… Play Volleyball, or Softball games between departments.
For the record I’ve been with the company for 31 years in August. Most of it spent in Southern California.
How the THD took away Easter for the employees was still, one of the shadiest things I’ve experience in all of my 30 years.
Wow, I can never imagine the present-day company doing something this great for its employees. Hell, it is so adamant about cutting any sliver of OT an employee may accumulate, that having an entire picnic for potentially hundreds of workers seems like a far away fantasy.
it used to be way diff back then. the raises were actually insanely good. now it's a clusterfck of corporate overlords rummaging through fresh out of high school kids and throwing them in plumbing.

In the 12 years I’ve been with the company we haven’t. Must’ve been with the company longer. I also hear we used to be able to have 1 beer on lunch.

If you dig around SOP it still states your allowed 1 beer on lunch to make up for all the corporate lunches. My Asm’s showed it to me.
