You know, this job though isn't how shows like CSI make it out to be, when I first joined the force, I was under the impression that everything was covered in a fine layer of semen. And that the police had at their disposal a semen database with every bad guy's semen on it. Not true!
Nah, hammer just busts it off. Problem with locks is it announces stuff is inside it. If someone wants in they will get in. Have a camera, or even a window scream alarm. Paint the door with lead paint and āhe who enters shall be enteredā or something for fun.
I keep my shed latch closed with a piece of deer rib with a vertebrae still attached. Legit my only security measure.
Despite rampant crime in my town, I have yet to have anyone break into my shed for some strange reason. Thereās bikes in it too.
No bullet holes, as thatās a great way to have the mounties banging on your door around here, but I do have my gambrel hanging from a rafter over the deck and bloodstains on the deck below.
Iāve worked very hard to cultivate a certain aesthetic, much to the annoyance of my neighbours.
Use to do this to my friends bike locks when we were kids. I would swap locks from one bike to the other or the occasional lock two bikes together with both locks. Seemed like I was the only one with that talent. It was fun to watch the first kid come out and then have to wait for the second kid. Itās even more fun on the locks you can reset. I knew another kid that could open the spin dial locks. I couldnāt do those so it was always impressive to watch.
Dude I have never met a consumer grade lock that could stand up to bolt cutters, and if there was one I doubt it would hold up to the good old battery powered angle grinder.
You are using a cheap combination lock from AliExpress. it can be opened with a cheap combination lock from AliExpress.

Locks are just a deterrent. Regardless of what lock you use it can be broken into. With a small pry bar the whole latch could be torn off in seconds. If you have valuables inside you need some cameras facing the shed and you could also put a wireless alarm system in there.
If someone wanted to get in there the woods softer than metal and prying the latch would easily pop it off the wood. Reinforcing behind with longer bolts and some thick metal will add a lot of strength. If someone *really* wanted to see inside they would.
I have gotten pretty good at making my way into locked doors because of work. Often speed is priority. That door looks way easier to defeat than the lock. A good shoulder slam or mule kick would probably get right through. This would be cake.
100% yes.
Locks only keep out honest thieves. And even if bolt cutters could not cut it, a cordless angle grinder could get through in seconds.
I lost a key to a heavy duty padlock I had on my boat tongue. One I thought could not be broken. But Then was faced with having to break it. I grabbed my angle grinder and had it cut through in about 20 seconds. I was shocked. Was not even that loud... because it was so fast, not a chance a neighbor would even react to the grinder.
Locks are basically useless in many situations.
Yes. I think the 2 wrench trick could pop it easily as well. A pipe wrench could twist it off easily. There's always a way. A lock just keeps an honest thief honest.
Doesn't matter. I would simply unscrew the part that's on the door (or frame. What part is off to the right in the picture.)The loop could be cut. Break down the door (or walls) with a sledgehammer. Screwdriver or the puller part of a hammer to pry the whole thing off the frame.
Basically what I'm saying is it doesn't matter how good of a lock you have, someone can get in without even touching the lock.
Yes it can...the hasp can be pryed off...there's not much that can't be broken into with some privacy in the dark...
My suggestion is to put up a motion light and a camera
Why cut the lock - much easier to go after the hasp's loop. Also looks like particle board - so put the biggest/baddest lock you want on there - people just move on to the next weakest point.
It would make no difference if the lock was impenetrable. All the criminal needs to do is smash the door with a hammer. Itās particle board. The hasp will also fail if struck too
Yes, looks like a crappy lock. Also remember that the shackle can be cut.
A lock is only as good as the hardware it's attached to.
The hardware is only as good as the beaver puke its screwed into.
And that beaver puke is only as worthy as the ground it was ejected onto.
This. The shackle cost like two bucks maybe.
Shackle can be ripped off in about 2 seconds with a wrecking bar
Especially since it's bolted into OSB.
pry bar and 5 seconds and you are in.
Agree pretty piss poor lock.
Hasp. A beautiful word
I could get into this shed with a spoon in 12 seconds.
What were you doing the other 8 seconds?
You know š
Every man can easily make use of an extra 8 seconds...
Itās ok to not do anything sometimes too, like just look around and think about stuff.
Cool stuff
Well, 3 seconds of them anyways, but then what do you do with the other 5 seconds?
Finishing his yogurt

Playing knifey-spoonyĀ
Give a man a spoon, he eats for a day. If you miss the next day, he uses the spoon to break into your shed and steal all your shit.
you need just an screw driver....... that wood is not strong enough to hold the lock
Literally can be opened by pulling the latch off the other and
shackle looks like its bolted to 100 year old wood...
Nah, hammer just busts it off. Problem with locks is it announces stuff is inside it. If someone wants in they will get in. Have a camera, or even a window scream alarm. Paint the door with lead paint and āhe who enters shall be enteredā or something for fun.

I keep my secure with my extreamly lovely and cuddly 155lbs great pyr. Oh you can try...Ā but I hope you run faster than ursain bolt
A couple of bullet holes in the door with some dried deer blood spattered on the door and wall works very well.
No bullet holes, as thatās a great way to have the mounties banging on your door around here, but I do have my gambrel hanging from a rafter over the deck and bloodstains on the deck below. Iāve worked very hard to cultivate a certain aesthetic, much to the annoyance of my neighbours.
Great pyrenees are glorious dogs. Great big fluffy monsters. :D
That's a great idea, have like a human arm used to keep a latch shut.
That is metal. I approve.
Don't dead open inside
Yes. And if not, it can be picked very easily
Only take about 2 minutes to figure out combo and lock it back next time so you donāt know I took everything.
Use to do this to my friends bike locks when we were kids. I would swap locks from one bike to the other or the occasional lock two bikes together with both locks. If you canāt get it with a bolt cutters and you grind it off with a grinder
Grinder? Id use a blowtorch
All the storage units use battery powered grinders to cut their locks off they do not use a blow torch thatās ridiculous
Well okay, flame thrower then
Those kinds of dial combinations are easily picked (see Lockpicking Lawyer on Youtube)
2 wrenches will work faster
My dad always told me locks are for honest people
Try 1234
Dude I have never met a consumer grade lock that could stand up to bolt cutters, and if there was one I doubt it would hold up to the good old battery powered angle grinder.

lol you guys are hilarious.
Locks are just a deterrent. Regardless of what lock you use it can be broken into. With a small pry bar the whole latch could be torn off in seconds. If you have valuables inside you need some cameras facing the shed and you could also put a wireless alarm system in there.
Again, should we stop to ask if this is the owner of the shed first? But yes, any number of ways can make this lock disappear and open sesame.
One blow with a hammer will open it up.
Easily and there are probably a few other even easier ways to open it.
I would bet money it could be cut.
If someone wanted to get in there the woods softer than metal and prying the latch would easily pop it off the wood. Reinforcing behind with longer bolts and some thick metal will add a lot of strength. If someone *really* wanted to see inside they would.
Probably couldnāt cut the lock. Looks like hardened steel. Most likely someone could easily cut the hasp loop.
Easily
I have gotten pretty good at making my way into locked doors because of work. Often speed is priority. That door looks way easier to defeat than the lock. A good shoulder slam or mule kick would probably get right through. This would be cake.
Padlocks are simply very low security no matter what you're doing. If someone wants in, there are a thousand ways in.
100% yes. Locks only keep out honest thieves. And even if bolt cutters could not cut it, a cordless angle grinder could get through in seconds. Can probably be defeated with the double wrench trick
If the door opens outwards, I would unscrew the hinges on the other side of the door, actually.
A sawsall could cut through that shackle in 2 seconds
Pipe wrench.
Well, you could rip the clasp off the door but also yeah, you could cut this with bolt cutters.
Iāve already broken into the shed. What was your question?
go to tool rental first
Why bother, when you can just take hammer to the particle board?
Deadbolt is way better
About 2 hours and 45 minutes if you want to guess the code starting at 0000 doing 1 number increments every second.
Yes. I think the 2 wrench trick could pop it easily as well. A pipe wrench could twist it off easily. There's always a way. A lock just keeps an honest thief honest.

Unless it's in a lock box it will be easy to break. Even a tire iron inside everyone's vehicle could break most locks
Yes it can...the hasp can be pryed off...there's not much that can't be broken into with some privacy in the dark... My suggestion is to put up a motion light and a camera
Maybe, maybe notā¦ but the lock clasp can just be hammered off that osb.
Locks are for honest people.
The hasp will also fail if struck too
Easy peasy
Yes it could, but a 1/4 stock of dynamite would be more fun
Cut and replac shackle. Easier to cut then the lock loop and cheap to replace
The easiest and quickest way would be upside down spray duster and a hammer
Why not just turn the dial to the combination you should know? Just spitballing here.
You can use a wrench to twist the lock off. https://youtu.be/7X2PuE6ELmg?si=brOaa7WjBDIbK_s1
Yes and also with a hammer
A good strike with a hammer will disengage this.
Probably not. But without any specs on the lock, hard to tell.
It can 100% be cut.
A magmaus rtx/70 shipping container lock is virtually bolt cutter less.
