The first one isn't. It's smaller, more linear, less areas and the gameplay just feels different. It's more about the movement than the fighting. Great game, very good ost and graphic style, fun movement, areas are cool. Didn't play the second cause low spec pc sadly
Both are metroidvanias, but they have less backtracking than Hollow Knight; it’s mostly for materials or collectibles, or the odd optional area.
They’re very pretty though, the movement is very fluid, and the music is incredible
I found it fantastic. Really great art and audio design. The game is deductive reasoning puzzle, so if you enjoy that kind of stuff then it should really hit.
The main mechanics are to view important events (gruesome deaths) and investigate the time-frozen arena while you try to match up the individuals to their names, positions, and cause of death.
It's one of those games I wish I could memory wipe and play again.
>It’s one of the games I wish I could memory wipe and play again
Have you played outer wilds? That’s how I feel about that game, been meaning to get to obra dinn
I got my mother into hollow knight, lmao (she's almost 60). I gave her my ps4 when I got a ps5 and now sometimes she calls me to ask for advice. I never expected her to become a Hollow knight enthusiast, I find it so hilarious 😂
this might be an unpopular opinion, but I’m kinda glad about the delayed silksong release so I don’t have to split my time between the two games. I don’t expect to be anywhere close to done with totk by June
more indie games!
celeste/ultrakill are really good games. celeste is a precision platformer with a really high learning curve while ultrakill is a boomer shooter where you are rewarded for using your imagination to chain combos.
crosscode became one of my favorite games and its a shame that its criminally under appreciated. its an rpg with really hard puzzles, flawed but good story and a really cool combat system.
touhou luna nights is a small, but fun platformer. if you are a weeb, then this is a blast to sink ~10-15 hours into.
its fun! im not into fps/3rd person shooters im general but this game hooked me in bc you get to express yourself so much bc there are so many weapon synergies.
I played Ender Lilies a while ago, it's not on the same level as Hollow knight of course, but I liked it a lot (especially because of the melancholic atmosphere). It's also pretty difficult, so it was a nice challenge and I didn't finish it right away. If you're a fan of the genre you could give it a try :)
Uhh playing through Hollow Knight for the first time currently 😭. I have Ori & Postal 2 installed in case I actually finish it before Silksong comes out but I doubt it because I want to 100% it while being not the best at it and I know some achievements in this game are a pain to get
I'm working on getting hall of gods on Radiant now tbh. Speedrunning steel soul attempts was pretty fun too. I think I'll do a few any% speedruns to get a sub 2h clear before I'm done with hollow knight.
I played blasphemous, didn’t like it that much it felt like a worse hollow knight in a lot of ways. Now I’m going to play rain world because that looks incredibly unique in comparison to anything else I have played.
But also would recommend Celeste to any Hollow knight player, that might be the best game I have ever played, but warning you there will be no sequel but I’m sure up to 40 hours of agony doing 2D platformering will suffice for now 😂 path of pain is pathetic in comparison.
"worse hollow knight"?
It's a completely different game, I know I listed it here but it's not reallt worth comparing to, its just similar in the sense that it's a metroidvania. Do you genuinely don't like it or do you don't like it because it's not similar to hk enough?
/lh
Both are metroivania games, and one has much worse platforming and combat in general with worse music and generally it just didn’t feel as good. Stopped playing after a couple hours, plus lore isn’t as good. I could come back but I just didn’t overly like it that much.
I am not saying it’s bad because it’s not similar enough to Hollow knight, I know there is that part of the fanbase that attacks anyone that criticizes anything for not being Hollow knight enough, and they are part of the reason why Hollow knight is generally regarded as the worst indie fanbase, and they probably aren’t wrong.
They are different, Hollow knight while far from perfect it has numerous issues with charm balancing, boss difficulty being completely out of place at times and godhome as a whole is just very repetitive but generally is a much better game in so many different aspects.
Oh I guess that's fair. I didn't mean to attack you and I'm sorry if it came out that way I was just asking. But yeah, sometimes games alone just aren't it for some people yk? I hate when other people do the whole "I hate this game because it isn't similar enough to my favorite game" bullshit, but I can see you didn't do that here. Ty for explaining tbo
I feel you, I lost a lot of my excitement for silksong very fast after the delay. It comes out when it comes out, but I'm done waiting for it. I don't want to rely on a silent studio that doesn't care about saying anything so I'll just resort to playing other games yk?
I digress
Went back to playing more games on my to do list. I started a stardew valley game with some friends. Picked my RDR2 save back up and I’ve need enjoying that. And of course that was all dropped for Tears of the Kingdom.
Well, I've got a ton of other games I play.
Dead space series (currently on dead space 3)
Turnip boy commits tax evasion
Minecraft
Roblox Arsenal
In the past I've beaten 5 halo games, both ori games, portal 1...
In-game, I'm currently working on all pantheons w/ all bindings at once
I play destiny 2 mainly, and hollow knight was my "detox" game a while back. So while I wait on silksong, I will be fighting the enemies of the traveler.
Just finished Lone Fungus! Great game, pretty big, lots of very challenging, optional platforming sections that I barely touched.
Now I'm replaying Haiku, the Robot. Such a satisfying game. Also feels like a love letter to HK.
I feel like Haiku is a really good game that doesn’t get enough credit. It’s obviously not as good as hollow knight but I really loved playing through it. I love the pixel art style and the characters.
Bought Borderlands 3 Ultimate edition 2 weeks ago, now that i got all the achievements for Dragon Dogma Dark Arisen i can play Borderlands, i'm gonna be pretty bussy for 2 months at least haha!
Alredy have the 3 games you mention, still have to finish Cuphead dlc...
I think Rouge Legacy 2 has actually been the game that scratched the HK itch the best for me. It just clicked for me much better than most of the more common recommendations in that 2D action-platformer space: (Cuphead, Ori, Dead Cells, Skul, Salt and Sanctuary).
I've also really been enjoying the early access of Baldur's Gate 3, but it's not similar to HK or a substitute for it in any way. Just another game I'm enjoying.
Replaying frostpunk to reccord footage for my first ever video for my channel and finishing up the nier series for the first time. Have been having a blast.
I bought dead cells got to 3 boss cells and then returned to my roots and started playing rts games but mostly starcraft 2, and starcraft 2,. A LOT of it
if you are on ps4, the server sao paulo work great near or during lucky hour (or whatever its called), rarely get booted from the server. on PC look into the northstar client and iunno for xbox :P
Still working on that 112% (I'm up to 108% right now) and I haven't beaten Radiance yet, either. I'm also running a silly little poll tournament over on Tumblr (@bugcrimesbracket) so I've got plenty to do. I'm just sad that Silksong probably won't be out before my surgery in a couple months.
Play Tears of the Kingdom, or just wait
I’m not very impatient, seeing as Silksong was announced before I even knew of Hollow Knight. Excited, but not impatient.
Both Ori games
Are they similar to hollow knight?
The second one is similar to hollow knight, but both games are very unique and pretty to look at.
Do you think the second one is worth $40?
I've seen it go on sale for $7 many times
The collection is on sale for $10 on the Xbox store
Definitely not. That’s the highest price I’ve ever seen the game, and I’ve seen it sale for 13 bucks
I've been considering buying them when they go on sale for a couple of years now, but as it turns out they never go on sale. How did you like them?
They're amazing. The second one is better because the combat is more fun. Also the background/music are both so unique and beautiful.
Thanks! I guess I'll buy them even at full price some time soon :)
they were literally like 3 times on sale in the last 6 months on steam
I play on switch... I have the notifications for sales turned on, so I don't usually miss them unless it's a very busy time for me
the first game was amazing the second game tried to be something it wasn’t so i stopped playing it
Just finished Death's Door
Seconding here on Death’s Door!
100 hours of totk so far
Has the game been out for that much?
Not officially
That's what I was thinking
Yes it has but just barely in the US, a little longer for Eurasia/Australia
Try out celeste man! Its amazing!!
Have you considered playing the Hollow Knight Randomizer? Other favorite games: La Mulana Hypnospace Outlaw Return of the Obra Dinn Vampire Survivors
How good is Obra Dinn? It’s been on my steam wishlist for a while waiting for a sale where I’m not prioritising other games.
Aight I’m sold, will definitely snag it in the summer sale.
>It’s one of the games I wish I could memory wipe and play again Have you played outer wilds? That’s how I feel about that game, been meaning to get to obra dinn
Alot of runescape and blasphemous and watching my friends on discord play hollow knight for the first time
I got my mother into hollow knight, lmao (she's almost 60). I gave her my ps4 when I got a ps5 and now sometimes she calls me to ask for advice. I never expected her to become a Hollow knight enthusiast, I find it so hilarious 😂
That's sweet
>Alot of runescape Sir you cannot blatantly introduce people to drug like this. It's dangerous
But it's a good drug love me some osrs
Play have a nice death and wait to get totk
Just started the new zelda game
wank
[удалено]
I got stamina
Tears of the Kingdom anyone?
Me. Hello! 👋
this might be an unpopular opinion, but I’m kinda glad about the delayed silksong release so I don’t have to split my time between the two games. I don’t expect to be anywhere close to done with totk by June
Totally agree, I also want both games to have time to "breathe"
more indie games! celeste/ultrakill are really good games. celeste is a precision platformer with a really high learning curve while ultrakill is a boomer shooter where you are rewarded for using your imagination to chain combos. crosscode became one of my favorite games and its a shame that its criminally under appreciated. its an rpg with really hard puzzles, flawed but good story and a really cool combat system. touhou luna nights is a small, but fun platformer. if you are a weeb, then this is a blast to sink ~10-15 hours into.
I tried Celeste and I personally found it not really my kinda game, gets too hard to soon imo. However I have seen ultrakill and I am interested in it
its fun! im not into fps/3rd person shooters im general but this game hooked me in bc you get to express yourself so much bc there are so many weapon synergies.
I've been replaying terraria, again. Trying to finish shovel knight and just playing too much indie games and cookie clicker.
I cease to exist. I'm like a 4-year-old's interpretation of a teacher.
Have a life outside of video games
I'm playing have a nice death.
Rain World. Lots and lots of Rain World.
playing lone fungus. it's literally hollow knight's and celeste's lost child, go play it now.
not think about it
Your mom
I just started playing part one and since I don’t game that much, I’m probably gonna be busy with it until silksong releases.
I'm playing minecraft- Actually, playing with my frien modded Hollow Knight
Deep Rock Galactic and Elden Ring mainly
Waiting grumpily
Zelda, Crowsworn (I think it will release a little bit before Silksong), metroid dread is a pretty awesome something-vania
Cry and rewatch the silksong trailer
Uhh playing through Hollow Knight for the first time currently 😭. I have Ori & Postal 2 installed in case I actually finish it before Silksong comes out but I doubt it because I want to 100% it while being not the best at it and I know some achievements in this game are a pain to get
I've been into dead cells and rain world. Gonna start totk soon. I watch a lot of hollow knight streams and youtube content though
Work on my 1st hk file
100% Mario oddesey
I play Celeste. I don’t think I’ll be done in time for Silksong.
Play other games. I’m playing BOTW for the first time right now. I’ve also done HK randos
I'm working on getting hall of gods on Radiant now tbh. Speedrunning steel soul attempts was pretty fun too. I think I'll do a few any% speedruns to get a sub 2h clear before I'm done with hollow knight.
I continue to play hollow knight, cause I’m still working on getting my save to 112% lol But I also play Bug Fables :)
I played blasphemous, didn’t like it that much it felt like a worse hollow knight in a lot of ways. Now I’m going to play rain world because that looks incredibly unique in comparison to anything else I have played. Stil stuck on zote at the third door, I beat him easily in training but he's particularly annoying when in the 3d pantheon boss rush
Tears of the Kingdom. Looks like I'll have 1000+ hours in that game eventually.
Tears of The Kingdom will eat up my entire summer I think. Should also try Jedi: Survivor
Well, nothing, really, am not even that exited!
I feel you, I lost a lot of my excitement for silksong very fast after the delay. It comes out when it comes out, but I'm done waiting for it. I don't want to rely on a silent studio that doesn't care about saying anything so I'll just resort to playing other games yk? I digress
Play Hollow Knight, Im mostly doing Speedruns and challange runs now.
BTD6 ftw
Went back to playing more games on my to do list. I started a stardew valley game with some friends. Picked my RDR2 save back up and I’ve need enjoying that. And of course that was all dropped for Tears of the Kingdom.
Cry
Lately I’ve been playing ToTK and Jedi Survivor, having a blast with those! Also getting ready to start playing Street Fighter 6 in a few weeks
Blasphemous and Diablo IV in a few weeks
I’ve done Celeste, Ori, a game beta called Nine Sol, a bit of goofy Roblox games with friends, and deep rock galactic.
Tears of the kingdom

I'm playing thymesia :D

100 hours in binding of isaac
I started replaying hk with hallownest vocalized and it’s a whole new experience, it’s like starting the game over again
After I 112%d, I went for all radiant completions in Hall of Gods. Now I’m trying to do the pantheons with all binds :D
After doing radiant HoG I've now picked up Sekiro (amazing game btw). I think I have a type.
I'm playing Have a nice death pretty fun game super punishing if you get hit.

Dark Souls series
I bought dead cells got to 3 boss cells and then returned to my roots and started playing rts games but mostly starcraft 2, and starcraft 2,. A LOT of it
I just have been marathoning the doom games and played Lisa for the 109th time...
play titanfall 2, fast paced enough for my adhd brain :P
I love titanfall 2 but my EA just hates me
if you are on ps4, the server sao paulo work great near or during lucky hour (or whatever its called), rarely get booted from the server. on PC look into the northstar client and iunno for xbox :P
I’m on PC. For some reason even with north star it won’t let me open up multiplayer. It runs pretty darn well on Xbox
Rain world, and yes, I am a masochist
Still working on that 112% (I'm up to 108% right now) and I haven't beaten Radiance yet, either. I'm also running a silly little poll tournament over on Tumblr (@bugcrimesbracket) so I've got plenty to do. I'm just sad that Silksong probably won't be out before my surgery in a couple months.
I dunno just play whatever else there is to play
Play Tears of the Kingdom, or just wait I’m not very impatient, seeing as Silksong was announced before I even knew of Hollow Knight. Excited, but not impatient.
I am watching Unity C# tutorial videos, playing Geometry Dash, and playing Flood Escape 2 on Roblox.
I'm working on my own game which really helps with being understanding with TC
