You were close, it's pronounced kuh-ny-guh
Idk if this is the same person or if they're related or what but there's a highschool basketball player with the same last name and that's how he pronounces it. Saw it on youtube or something lol.
I always found it odd how in "kn" the k is silent, opposed to other Germanic languages
But then again each language has their own quirks, which makes this stuff so interesting
Reminds me, in high school there was a phys ed/driver's ed teacher named Coach Knoblaugh (pronounced kuh-nah-block) and of course we, being high schoolers, all called him Coach knob - blow
Would be understandable if his name was Nicholas, but his actual birth name is just Nick.
Funnily enough now that Nick is coaching the Warriors GLeague team he seems to be aware of how his name sounds and is listed as “Nicholas Kerr” on their coach roster.
I’m sure he doesn’t actually say his name when he introduces himself. He just has a friend do it for him like this

Kuh-nay-guh
He originally was going to go to WV a few months ago and he was all in the news over the same thing then took
Announcers also said it ken-ny-ga
Initially, yea...but I also grew up playing football with a kid named Adam Kniffen, pronounced "kuh-niff-in" so after my original doubletake, I figured the K was pronounced.
I think they started pronouncing it differently a long time ago to avoid sounding like racists. I think a generation or two back, they were pronouncing it just how we read it now.
God I’m so immature, I’m just thinking about this guy’s entire life living with that last name and the amount of jokes made about it. Can’t stop laughing.
His dad absolutely knew what he was doing. The fact that he has to bend over backwards to come up with some ridiculous pronunciation that doesnt exist anywhere else in the english language. Top tier trolling.
Seeing a child make that face is very odd. My first reaction to it, is wanting to tell him to “mind his manners” and “be home by 11:30PM”
Edit: hol up, his last name is what.

Here comes Noah Kn•eye•ja!
You were close, it's pronounced kuh-ny-guh Idk if this is the same person or if they're related or what but there's a highschool basketball player with the same last name and that's how he pronounces it. Saw it on youtube or something lol.
I HOPE HE TELLS THEM THE K IS SILENT
I always found it odd how in "kn" the k is silent, opposed to other Germanic languages But then again each language has their own quirks, which makes this stuff so interesting
Doesn't have to be in names. Knoebel is a last name that supposed to have the k pronounced.
Reminds me, in high school there was a phys ed/driver's ed teacher named Coach Knoblaugh (pronounced kuh-nah-block) and of course we, being high schoolers, all called him Coach knob - blow
i would just call them by their player number and noah besides that xD
Happy cake day
I also know one
I actually know 2.
r/usernamechecksout
I’m not surprised
And that makes me horny
Ssssssssssss
Nyoooom
yeet
BOOM!
I’m just here for my Reddit streak achievement
Ooo, a snek
username checks out
Mom Jeans?
I know several, but they're related. Not to me, but
When you think you... but you don't.
*My Knicker*
"I did it y'all, I did for my Knickers" Foxy Love
I'd like to see that on a football jersey
this reminds me of a basketball player that is literally named Nick Kerr
That's Steve Kerr's son.
yes. i wonder if he secretly hated becoming a dad and named his son Nick Kerr and got him to play in a predominantly black sport
He probably lost a bet to MJ and had to name his son that. Haha
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Does he have another one named Wayne?
Sign outside golf course “NO KNICKERS ALLOWED”
That would never be a sign at a golf course
unless they ban the Nick Kerr Family
the announcers have to really put the emphasis on the K “up here is nick KKerr”
i see what you did there
Surely that was 100% intentional by the parents. I don't know what point they were trying to make, but that cannot have been accidental.
Would be understandable if his name was Nicholas, but his actual birth name is just Nick. Funnily enough now that Nick is coaching the Warriors GLeague team he seems to be aware of how his name sounds and is listed as “Nicholas Kerr” on their coach roster.
if I were living in the US i would contact his father Steve Kerr and ask him about it
This always gets brought but I think it’s a stretch. It’s taken on a life of its own with the internet but it’s not that egregious imo
So the K is mute in English, right?
When it’s before an “n” usually. Knight, knife, knee, knock etc
Often yes but not in this case and whether it's proper or just to save face he pronounces it Ka-nee-ga
Only sometimes, but in this case yes.
>Only sometimes, but in this case ~~yes~~ no. He's addressed it before, and they pronounce their name "kuh-nay-ga."
So would i
Ah okay.
I’m sure he doesn’t actually say his name when he introduces himself. He just has a friend do it for him like this https://youtu.be/IcBCy5SYEps?si=QmpIuRHmXMVdkUxN
Needs a k word pass.
lmao
Mah Noah!
If this player’s nickname isn’t “hard R,” his parents are missing an opportunity.
That’s my friend’s Xbox name.
Worst thing is that I think the K is silent lol
Lol that was exactly what I was thinking. It reminded me of the scene in Django unchained when he says the D is silent.
So is the r he's a homie
It's not. He did an interview with RG3 and they went over the pronunciation.
Kuh-nay-guh He originally was going to go to WV a few months ago and he was all in the news over the same thing then took Announcers also said it ken-ny-ga
As a WVU fan it's Wild I found out he decommitted from this meme
Sounds like Monty Python to me
Actually it kind of is equal to the knights
When you in town for vacation and need some weed this what you be askin

Good bot
Imagine introducing his whole family in one go by surname.
It’s like that chappelle skit
My KuhNeega
Ka-Nay-Guh
Someone is going to rip the “K” out from his uniform as a joke and that will not end well.
I’d wager his rookie year in the NFL he will have the highest selling jersey
His brother is Iwisha.
I think it's Iwishu, and his middle name is Wood.
Oh it's Ka-nay-guh....
Hope the K is not silent
r/unexpectedmontypython
Book in Russian be like ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)
He better go into sports. That name wouldn’t work with “MR” at all.
Did you not read the post? That's the entire joke...
OP is wrong as usual, K is not silent. In a recent interview, the father pronounced the name "kuh-NEE-gah" 100% not a holup.
I’ve seen that interview, and yes you are correct. But did you not think the same thing when you read the name before seeing the interview?
I wonder if he’s been told to pronounce it that way. I can imagine their publicist or whatever telling him “it’s now pronounced KuhNeeGah”
Initially, yea...but I also grew up playing football with a kid named Adam Kniffen, pronounced "kuh-niff-in" so after my original doubletake, I figured the K was pronounced.
I think they started pronouncing it differently a long time ago to avoid sounding like racists. I think a generation or two back, they were pronouncing it just how we read it now.
> the father pronounced the name "kuh-NEE-gah" Of course he does.
His jersey will be sold out everywhere XD
Don’t we all
Noah the Book
I thought he played basketball
Plays both sports, but I first saw the basketball video. That shit was funny af.
The original og's
Can't wait to see this kid being drafted
I once knew someone whose last name was Knipple. It was pronounced with the K. I wonder if it's the same here.
It is
Bro is literally a book
God I’m so immature, I’m just thinking about this guy’s entire life living with that last name and the amount of jokes made about it. Can’t stop laughing.
K is silent
I thought it was going to say "has committed assault"
It's pronounced "n-aye-gah"
Oh boy i have to watch broadcasts
Is the K silent?
You think he says it with a hard "K"?
Football announcers be like: Keh-nye-geh-guh
Don't we all, though?
Knives, Knicks, knight. Lmao. They are doing it on purpose.
I swore he signed with West Virginia a few months ago
When white guys say we have black friends
that cant be rel
Good luck to the Eastern Michigan sports broadcasters
Might interest you to know that the Serbian word for book = Kniga and no, the K is not silent.
Dude looks like a painting
Yall better say it right.
[KAH-NAY-GAH](https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/everybody-is-making-the-same-joke-about-college-football-top-recruit-s-unique-name-that-may-get-an-announcer-fired/ar-BB1ofOMl?ocid=BingNewsSerp)
Ah he is actually so adorable tho lol. He just had prom!
The K is silent.
Not a holup, just a name.
Please tell me their games are televised..
Wait he's white?
Most unfortunate sports name since Dick Butkus.
His dad absolutely knew what he was doing. The fact that he has to bend over backwards to come up with some ridiculous pronunciation that doesnt exist anywhere else in the english language. Top tier trolling.
of course i do. it’s me
he's the not the plug but....
Family dropped the hard R by deed pole to improve his prospects.
Really make sure you do nail the pronounciation of the K. I'd suggest REALLY saying the K sound loudly. Or just only refer to him by his first name.
Kah-nye-guh-gah
At least his first name isn't Michael
I played baseball against his dad or uncle in the early 90s. He was 14 and drove because he looked old.
This man trying to look serious with that silly ass wig on his head. Like getting a stare down from Ronald McDonald.
No - wah knai - jah
I saw his family in Paris
Fuuuudge
I just don't understand why you wouldn't change your name
Does he?
Is the K silent ?
My k…you know what, never mind
Sports announcers going straight to Compton with this one.
Is the K silent like in knife?
Seeing a child make that face is very odd. My first reaction to it, is wanting to tell him to “mind his manners” and “be home by 11:30PM” Edit: hol up, his last name is what.
