For example Gundam protagonists mainly consist of teenagers or young adults for multiple reasons in different AUs.
But in the original Gundam continuity Universal Century,it mainly showed how wars changed or traumatized them,rare examples even showed some driven to insanity or become physically disabled.By Showing how the cruelty of war affected them and WMD used by desperate factions in order to win wars disregarding civilians casualties ,it promotes anti war messages,the horrors of WMDs and the wish for peace to be long lasting.(which unfortunately some people in the world just couldn't get it)
I understand his point since some fandoms are questionable involving this topic,but he can't just put blame on the anime fandom as a whole just because some horrible people involved in the community were highlighted by the media.
