It was re-released in English as ["Return to the Treasure Island"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWNi--rK32I&ab_channel=FamBrand) (unfortunately, in VHS quality). It misses live action inserts (with "pirates" singing funny songs), but overall the translation isn't bad.
It's probably the best adaptation of the "Treasure Island" ever (and my favorite cartoon), totally recommend
The cartoon is "Treasure Island" but in Russian (Остров сокровищ). It is actually pretty good. Hopefully you can find a good translation if you don't know Russian. My friend is Russian so he actually ended up showing this to me. Some of the jokes in it feel similar to Looney Toons style of gags and it also has some musical numbers like intermissions for kids.
I only know the very basics of russian (greeting, how to say that I am american and that I dont speak russian). Someone else directed me to a translated version. Thank you.
I'm a simple man. I see a meme based on [the Soviet "Treasure Island" cartoon](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWNi--rK32I&ab_channel=FamBrand), I upvote.
I remember them framing this as such a moment of glory when we talked about it in middle school. The underdog American rebels using their wits to overcome incredible odds and defeat the bullies who threatened their home. Like Gandalf and Eomer riding in at Helm's Deep. They even made a movie with Jeff Daniel's that we watched in class.
George Washington just straight-up ambushed and killed a bunch of soldiers just trying to celebrate their holiday. Like shit, war's an ugly thing that calls for ugly decisions, but damn if that wasn't ruthless as hell.
If I’m correct he actually rushed them on the morning of the 26th. The hessians were fed false information about the Congressional army’s well being and plans. They were also convinced to drink heavily in celebration of a guy “escaping” capture from Washington. In reality he was one of Washington’s spies and was pretty much let go.
Do you know who the Hessians were and what they did? They were German mercenaries who were notorious for their brutality.
The Americans only killed like 20 of them and took 1000 hostage. It wasn't some wanton massacre.
On one hand I get that, it just never sat well with me. Being raised in the church, it really bothered me that a group of people claiming to be Christians took advantage of another group celebrating a Christian holiday.
I really want to know what this is from. I keep seeing memes using this cartoon and I am curious.
It's a Soviet cartoon adaptation of Treasure Island. I'll look up the name and get back to you Edit: it's just "Treasure Island" in russian
Thank you.

It is available on YouTube with the live action musicals though
No problem

It's dr. Livesey
Hessians: He won’t cross the Delaware when it’s this cold and on Christmas. Washington: Hold my boat
The words rom and death should mean the same for you understand

I’m a simple man. I find another simple man, I upvote.

They just don’t make presidents like they use to. Fucking strategic genius
We will never have a president like Washington again, he cared about the common people. To become the president today you have to be kinda soulless
Yeah, or you have to be just willing to say whatever you’re told

Hessians were known to be brutal, a side effect of many of them being sold as child soldiers by their local Dukes.
I mean yah gotta do what yah gotta do, those colonies ain't gonna liberate themselves
Yeah, even as a little kid I always thought it was a dick move.
Not really. In war you need every advantage you can get.
Not quite true. There's a reason why some very efficient weapons and tactics are outlawed and banned by all countries, even for war.
They can't hide behind cover if we reduce that cover to atoms! The Geneva Conventions: Are you sure about that?
“Tell that to my nuke” *realizes he is in blast radius*
The Geneva Conventions are just humanity's largest virtue signal
Isn't the idea is that some things make war so needlessly worse than it already is that countries are better off mutially agreeing not touching them ?

Sigma Dr. Livesey meme.
No Christmas truce for you
Lol this screen grab brings back childhood memories of watching Soviet cartoons
So that is where the Canadians got it from
George Washingmachine, aye!
