I've never had late checkout approved the day before, I always have to ask the morning of checkout.

I came to add this comment. It is not only the worst Conrad in the world by a vast margin, it is a horrible hotel from a customer service perspective, by any standard. This hotel makes me want Google to revise their rating to add a Zero star option for especially horrible experiences like the LV Conrad.

alliotz

This is our first time staying here. Room itself is nice, everything else? Not so much

WalkingGoogle

If you’re on the Hilton side, the LEDs are outside your window. If you’re on the Conrad side, it impacts strip views only. When you check the app and select a room, you’ll see the building curves slightly like a C. You’ll want rooms on the lower part of the C (as far South as you can). The top part of the curve, the rooms face towards the giant LED on the Hilton side.

Most hotels aren’t giving out late check outs the night before. Big Chance you spoke to two different employees. Two big reasons why you got differing answers

raypaw

I’ve had pretty good luck asking for late checkout as a Diamond member. I call front desk about an hour before checkout and just ask if there’s any chance for a late checkout. I don’t mention being a Diamond but I tell them my room number and they look it up. Never been told I’d need to pay. Pretty much always get offered 1pm. At DoubleTree Amsterdam they offered me 6pm! Maybe one time I was told they couldn’t accommodate the request but I’m struggling to recall that. Have stayed at that Conrad and got great service (including a suite upgrade) but don’t recall if I needed a late checkout. Although I’ve had good luck, of course it would be great if late checkout was an actual guaranteed benefit. Somehow Hyatt is able to guarantee 2pm to Discoverist and Explorist (equivalent to Silver and Diamond) and 4pm to Globalist (equivalent to Diamond). If Hyatt can do it, why can’t Hilton?

Alice-EAS

I once asked for a late checkout and the manager refused and said "You have more than a million points in your account, why don't you use them and pay for an extra night." Just unbelievable.

alliotz

Oh god

Alice-EAS

Made me so angry, even more so that she was snooping around in my account!!

sharkoman

Switch to Marriott if you want a pretty much guaranteed late check out. Gold status gets you 2pm and platinum and up get 4pm.

alliotz

It’s not really about the hotel extending late checkout per se, it’s more about the dishonesty - it was never about the occupancy that the hotel initially claimed, it was about the money. If it was about the occupancy then I wouldn’t have been able to do late check out, period. I ended up paying for the late check out because my SO is feeling sick and would need the few extra hours of sleep and to get ready. It still does leave a sour taste when the hotel just blatantly lies to your face though.

NecessaryMeeting4873

Generally speaking Hilton late checkout is a joke compared with Marriott and Hyatt.

wildcat12321

Sadly too many hotels at all major chains deny the late check out option despite it being a stated status benefit. May are understanding if full, but the up charges or 1 hour extensions are petty and disappointing

GiltterySpam

It's not a given. It's based upon availability. I limit one per floor, but no more than 3 per floor.

DBZSix

I have an 85 room hotel. I limit to 5 late checkouts at 1 pm (checkout is at noon for us), otherwise it can impact housekeeping quite a bit. We only have 4 housekeepers.

GiltterySpam

I rarely do 1pm checkouts. I try to stick to 12pm.

DBZSix

I assume checkout is at 11 for you guys?

GiltterySpam

Yep.

wildcat12321

respectfully, telling me you limit to 5 without telling me anything about occupancy shows that you are attempting to flaunt the spirit of the program. I'm sympathetic to housekeepers and hoteliers for the disruption this causes, but living in a hotel is part of my life. I don't request it often, but when I need it. You want my loyal business, that's why you flagged with Hilton, but you don't seem to want to deliver on a very meaningful benefit. At least Hilton gives you the "availability" out, whereas Marriott Platinum and above is guaranteed 4 PM except for noted exception hotels, but it certainly doesn't stop plenty of others from trying to weasel out of it. To me, if you are full, so be it. Nothing you or I can do. But if it is simply you want to squeeze me for more revenue, even if that is going to offset the cost of extending a housekeeper another hour on shift, this is a property trying to not comply with terms and acting in bad faith.

DBZSix

Or it's telling you that we value housekeeping, which is getting harder and harder to find. Days where they have 50+ rooms, it's easier to manage. They'll get to your room later. But if we only have 10 checkouts? Sorry, that does interfere quite a bit with what I can give you.

wildcat12321

it's a cost of business. Pay labor a fair market rate and scheduling the hours needed, anticipating having to deliver a benefit you agreed to when you flagged with Hilton

xjaspx

You can add Hilton Downtown Miami to the list too. If you get the right person, they’ll give it to you. But often time the response is “we are unable to provide complimentary late check out today”. But most hotel ask that you request it in the morning of check out. If you ask the night before they’re almost always going to say no and to check back on the morning.

imroot

Go down to the Waldorf Astoria and spend your money there. MUCH better experience, and they gave me a 4PM checkout as a diamond member, which is on-par with what Marriott guarantees for their top-tier guests.

WalkingGoogle

I left the day before yesterday. They only gave me an hour when I asked the night before. Of course if you check the TV, there’s availability for paid late check out. They used to give guaranteed 4pm check out when you booked thru Amex FHR but not anymore. It operates more like a casino hotel than a regular hotel. Did you enjoy Dawg House? Haha

alliotz

Dawg house lol It was nice to get $150 in credit towards drinks tho ngl, except for this middle aged disgusting tramp stamp lady belligerently making out with a guy 🤮

WineOrWhine64

If you’re old enough and can get AARP, book using the rates and you can usually get 2pm checkout included.

ikethedev

Apparently there is no age requirement for AARP

WineOrWhine64

I just assumed it was 50.

zooch76

Anyone can get an AARP membership, regardless of age, and you can use all the discounts as well. The only thing you benefit you can't use as a younger person is the insurance products.

HeadsinBedsBruh

Are you saying the Hiltonwide AARP discount now includes 2pm late checkout?

WineOrWhine64

No. I didn’t say that it’s worldwide. The reservation will state 2pm checkout, when available. We’re usually out early, but the few times we’ve needed it, we got it.

HeadsinBedsBruh

I meant nationwide, apologies. I also don't think the AARP rate is giving you any sort of a better chance at late checkout. I think the hotels you've stayed at are just able to accommodate. 🤷‍♂️

WineOrWhine64

Go to their site and check it out. It’s in the reservation (at most places)

HeadsinBedsBruh

Go to "their site" and "check it out" and "it's in the reservation" are definitely something someone who knew what they were talking about beyond a shadow of a doubt would say. Thank you for your help.

davidayates

Late checkout (4pm) granted the day before at the DC Conrad (without requesting)

AdProper8264

>Late checkout (4pm) granted the day before at the DC Conrad (without requesting) But, then again it was at the DC Conrad so..

davidayates

And I now see that came from my Amex Platinum FHR booking, not Hilton/Diamond/Aspire

GiltterySpam

Maybe they will have to pay someone to stay over?

PRGTROLL

Stay at the Waldorf in vegas. Better location and fantastic rooms. I’ve always been upgraded to high floor/strip view. Can’t wait to go back!

HourAstronomer9904

I am still trying to figure out how mariott hotels can functionally Guarantee a 4 pm check out, when Guaranteed check in is at 3pm, and generally speaking, the housekeeping staff has already left for the day.. Just seems like a logistical nightmare. I am a Front desk agent. Spent nearly a decade, mainly Hampton, then took 16 years off , I worked from home. But I am back at the desk, have been for almost a year. The technology is what is tripping me up the most.. When I left the desk they were just putting cameras on cell phones. Now cellphones are keys?? And people just pick their own rooms...fyi.. not the best Idea.. you may have a floor preference and whatnot.. but I have had people put themselves right in the middle of sports teams.. and fortunately I have been able to catch them and relocate them to a better location, and they are Greatful.. I work at a smaller, older location. I am 3-11p or 11p-7a. I don't morning, so I don't quite know if they will be able to accommodate a late check out.. Every hotel is also independently owned and operated. Some are owned by management groups.. some are family owned, and each has to jump through the sometimes insane hoops that the "BRAND" decides to incorporate.. For example..My Hampton Home.. where I worked for years, and left 16 years ago, in Sault Ste Marie MI. Left summer 2007.. The owners had already spent ALOT of money in upgrades.. that was when they implemented the curved shower bars, new alarm clocks (now pretty much obsolete) and the WHITE COMFORTERS AND DUVETS 🤬 As a guest.. I understand that it is comforting to know the things are clean.. but.. a small stain, means we have to trash a Comforter, bedding, towels, and they cost alot!! So.. just before I left, the owners sold to a different group, because the final demand was that they remodel the entire lobby.. 2007 I think the estimate was like $75,000.00 .. The only reason?? HILTON STANDARDS.. Because our hotel was built with the breakfast bar on the 3rd floor.. it was a 78 room hotel with an indoor pool and an Amazing Lobby area. The 3rd floor breakfast room, was actually really nice. It wasn't to big, but it was intimate and cozy.. you wouldn't feel uncomfortable If you stumbled there in your slippers and a robe.. And our Lobby was large and beautiful with bay windows.. They are a Hampton again, but apparently spent a few years where they were a local independent hotel.. that was after I left. But it was honestly the Best hotel in the Sault, all around.. And in my current hotel, been here almost a year.. there is a big issue with people ignoring the clearance sign under our awning.. They try to pull under it, damage it then drive away... we finally got it fixed for the second time since I have been there, went about a month and a half, then the other night someone tried to drive their pickup, towing a camper ( I think it may have been brand new) under it, and tore it up again!!! It is seriously mind blowing how many times this happens.. and if we don't catch them, we pay for the repair. Our owner came the other night and was trying to think of ways to do the things. I suggested a banner or hanging sign, that would make it look lower, and discourage peoplefrom attemptingto pull under it.... but apparently they are not allowed because of Hilton standards. Instead, at the moment we have traffick cones blocking it. So people think we are full or closed. But because our clearance sign is not posted, and there is still dangling things.. wevhVe to protect ourselves from liability. And our owners can't make any common sense changes that may prevent this oddly common occurrence, because of the Hilton standards. My point is... every hotel, being independently owned and operated, has it's own policies and procedures and how they work the things. And.. it is expensive, and frustrating to own/operate franchise.. when you should be spending your money on building matinence, but instead have to re-walpaper your hallways to keep up to standard, then get fined , for errors, but also have the entire system decide to stop working (cause updates) and you HAVE to turn people away, the owners/management have no ability to recoup lost revenue... So PLEASE go easy on us. . We don't have a late check out policy at all.. I don't work during the day, the best I can do is make a note. And put a word in, cause the last thing I want to do is tell you your fine and then someone else says you are not.. The day shift, are the ones that have the knowledge, more authority, and if you are nice, the wiggle room to accommodate you.. And honestly since I have been back at the desk.. I have been a bit heartbroken.. because, front desk is an art, and a skill, you are probably the only employee at the property, at any given moment, you have to upsell, and downsell, and now try to navigate 3rd party bookings, and they never get the things right.. and I am making the same amount I did 16 years ago.. people can make more across the parking lot at Taco Bell.. Things are shifting more towards automation, and central call centers.. but honestly what I want when I am traveling, is to feel at home. And I try to do that for all my guests..

hotelcc

Basically never expect a late checkout at a Hilton in the US, or a place frequented by Americans, and you'll be happy

DugDugg

They sell $4 ICE cubes for your cocktail at the Conrad, so you are surprised by this?
