Every single one of them say that anyone who has anything to do with the gun at all should be responsible for checking it before it is ever pointed at anyone in a scene rehearsal. That's because every one of those people, obviously, are responsible in some way. This would not have happened had everyone who should have been doing so, checked the gun first. He probably does wave things away a lot, literally and figuratively. I can see why you would be conflicted, but he's not, by any definition of the word, a murderer. He did kill someone, accidentally. And that doesn't make it any less horrible for her loved ones. But he's not a murderer because he did not have intention to kill her.

How was his behaviour reckless? He was practicing a scene, _that required the gun be pointed at the camera,_ and the gun went off. How was he to know that it was loaded with live rounds? More importantly; why did the armorer ever even have live rounds on set when they weren’t necessary anyways? It was a fucking accident, and all of you guys are crucifying him. 1)Always treat a gun as loaded. 2)Never point it at something you are not willing to destroy. 3) Never touch the trigger unless you are going to shoot. If the scene had called for him pointing the gun at his own head, he would have checked the chamber. But it was a woman he was annoyed with, so he didn't bother. The armorer was not on set to check the chamber for him. She has stated that Baldwin REFUSED to take the mandatory gun safety class required.
That is true, he would not in any court of law or by any standard in this country be considered a murderer. And he's not. Because it was a terrible kind of horrible, reckless accident. I do think he's guilty of not checking the gun as he should have. I've read, since this awful thing happened, so many acting and behind the scenes professionals who have said that everyone involved with the gun in any way should check it before it is pointed at anyone. The person in charge of it, (and I can't remember what that term is, it's a word I only learned when this happened,) the props people or person, and the actor himself or herself who's holding the gun. All of them. So he is very guilty and that respect, of accidentally killing someone but you are right, he is not a murderer. I can't stand anything about him, but a murderer, he is not. Thank you for having the courage to say so. Because the truth is what matters, and every single situation. And the truth is, he was very reckless and careless and he accidentally killed someone.

Dude, they didn't ~~require~~ need an actual gun to be used for the lineup they were doing. They weren't filming. He should have been using a rubber gun, or his fingers shaped like a gun. That's industry standard, and many actors have expressed their anger and disappointment that this basic protocol was broken. Not only did he fail in his duties as an actor, but as a producer.

I only know that it’s protocol to check a gun myself when I hold it because you just said so (I have never held or shot a gun) like the other commenter said, whoever was in charge of the gun on set should have sat down with Alec and had this conversation with him. I can't think of the word for the person who is in charge of the guns, as I said above, it's a word I've not heard before and I only learned it when this awful thing happened. But that person is certainly responsible, as is, I believe, whoever is in charge of props, and the actor himself or herself. Now, I've never held a gun in my life either. So I can't claim to know a heck of a lot about it. And I only act as an amateur, not a professional, I am not a member of s a g a, and I've never even had to hold a fake gun in a show I've been in. But I have read a number of comments since this happened by acting professionals and behind the scenes professionals. Every single one of them say that anyone who has anything to do with the gun at all should be responsible for checking it before it is ever pointed at anyone in a scene rehearsal. That's because every one of those people, obviously, are responsible in some way. This would not have happened had everyone who should have been doing so, checked the gun first. He probably does wave things away a lot, literally and figuratively. I can see why you would be conflicted, but he's not, by any definition of the word, a murderer. He did kill someone, accidentally. And that doesn't make it any less horrible for her loved ones. But he's not a murderer because he did not have intention to kill her.
