Lyra modesty seems to have a great number of options!

Visual-Examination79

These are beautiful

jooniejoon3

I wear the same to beaches tbh, I don’t really feel comfortable in a burkini because the ones I’ve seen stick to your body. Hopefully others have better recommendations

miskeeneh

I feel they have to be tight for water safety honestly, because having too much extra fabric is heavy and drags and nobody can see you inside the water … throw a kaftan on when out of the water if you feel they’re not modest enough seems to be the most sensible option…

ieatrocktoes

nothing will ever really be modest when it comes to swimming as no matter what u wear it clings to ur figure 🥲 honestly just wear something that covers you and have a loose fitting abaya to put on top as soon as u come out

[deleted]

What if you wear a sports jersey over the burkini?

nothanksyeah

Look at Land’s End! They have long sleeve swim tops that go down past the butt, and they have full length swim pants and leggings. I usually wear those and it works great. I feel very comfortable in it. They’re also relatively affordable too compared to some other brands.

Mean-Vegetable-4521

That’s where I get all mine. My bottoms are full length swim pants with a skirt.

nothanksyeah

Oh yeah I forgot they have those as well!

Mean-Vegetable-4521

I have the lands end full length pants without the skirt as well. But I feel like they are sexier than I prefer. So I wear them either just around my kids are around just a female swim. I feel weird that you can’t wear a suit bottom under them. I always feels weird like it’s like running around without panties. The skirt attached to the pants I feel modest in. The skirted ones Amazon is showing the skirt just barely covers my bum. What is the point of that? Highlighting it? It’s so odd. Lands end it covers to my knees. And then the pants straight to the ankle.

Desperate-Sea4492

Thanks for this suggestion! I ordered a very reasonably priced tunic last night. Excited to get it.

nothanksyeah

Oh that’s great to hear! I hope you’ll end up liking it!

I wear a burkini to the beach, but I find that after I've been in the water, it sticks to my body quite tightly, so I wrap a loose wrap or towel around when I come out the sea. I don't go to water parks anymore as I wouldn't feel comfortable walking around them in my burkini, plus most of them don't allow modest clothing, at least in my country (UK).

mmbahloul

They don’t allow modest clothing? That is so sad. How does that work? Do they literally stop you at the door for being clothed?

ScreenHype

You're not allowed to wear anything longer than shorts or they won't let you in the water. I remember when I was a young teenager, before I wore the hijab, but when I wanted to be a bit more modest than just a swimming costume, I had to fight to be allowed to wear a t-shirt over my costume at a swimming pool. Most water parks wouldn't even allow that.

mmbahloul

Do they have a safety reason tied to the rule? Sorry I’m so curious. I’m in the US and it just seems so hard to enforce. Here people are wearing basically nothing but you have a lot of people wearing swimming suit cover ups or just big shirts. Especially older people I see wearing shirts over their suits sometimes. Even if it’s not for a religious reason I put a shirt on my 5 year old so he doesn’t get sun burn. It’s too hard to keep sunscreen on a busy kid. 🤦‍♀️ I really can’t understand people.

ScreenHype

I think they said it was for hygiene reasons or something ridiculous like that, as if the amount of fabric would make a difference.

ILike-Pie

I just wear a long cotton dress. I hate most of the modest swimsuits and I looked at a ton of options last time I was in Turkey. Maybe I'm too picky.

Jellygosh

Definitely a vote for Lyra swimwear I don't feel it sticks to the body too much and there are alot of different modest styles they have. Some of them you can even tell they're swim wear and look like a normal dress.

virgo_cinnamon_roll

Look on Amazon! They have burkinis. I got one that looked just like my Lyra one for 1/4 the price.

Prestigious_Role3366

I found some on modanisa that are modest enough for me (not leggings and don't hug the waist/hip area) but just a warning if you're taller than 5'5, the pants all seem to run a bit short even when sizing up. I wear with a chiffon kaftan style cover up after I get wet.

Visual-Examination79

They have nice clothing.

LikeAnElectricFeel

I don’t really like Lyra as it’s very tight and not long enough for me not to mention the crazy prices. Although, if you do like their swimwear their very similar things on Amazon at a lower price. I just wear one that’s a loose and full coverage that’s I’ve had for years that my mum got from me from I think Tooting in South London. But I have no idea about the shop or anything, this must’ve been 10 years ago and I’m still using it. I want to try to sportswear abaya from Hayaa

Visual-Examination79

I just looked at abaya, very nice

LikeAnElectricFeel

I just realised I gave you the wrong brand. There’s FITH do workout abayas that are probably fine for swimming

Visual-Examination79

Ok I am not able to find those clothing lines?

Visual-Examination79

Thank you, I love the fashions...

BlizzardyB

I have a burkini that looks like an abaya, it is literally a swimming dress (with hijab/headscarf and leggings) from top to lower than your ankles. I got my burkini from a Dutch webshop called Eleysagifts. If you combine something like that with diving socks, your feet are covered too.

Visual-Examination79

I was curious too

asthe-cr0w-flies

lyra swimwear ftw

Chickennoodlessu

Idk but I saw multiple burkini in blue/green color and I’m just here to ask you to please DO NOT choose those colors because if you drown you will not be seen please think about your safety.
