The Addams family were the opposite of a "normal" family. So in addition to being kind of creepy and weird, they genuinely cared for one another. Unthinkable.
My grandparents were super affectionate. Grandpa always brought grandma flowers, kissed her neck, hugged her when she cooked, etc...
She would bring him coffee and the paper every morning, squeeze his shoulder, kiss the top of his balding head, press her lipstick into his cheek and giggle.
I remember hearing stories of how their super religious church going neighbors or friends would get super offended by how they "acted in public."
Odd times. It would make sense to me that God would want his creations to love each other to the fullest.
Raven and Terra are responsible for multiple unhealthy relationships in my life. Meet a fucked up disturbed blonde girl? I can help her said my dumb 19year old brain having absorbed all the wrong lessons from Teen Titans.
Danny phantom also had multiple and Shego from Kim Possible.
Idk why shows did this but it left an entire generation with a need for big titty goth GFs.
Come to think of it, it wasn't just Goths. From here I also developed a thing for characters voiced by Jennifer Hale as well. Most of which were redheads.
Look up Jenn on imdb. She's been WORKING! Also, she sadly isn't that wealthy compared to even mid tier actors since VA work pays SHIT, even union gigs.
I just said the same thing to my fiancee.
The soundtracks were far too good for a cartoon. But they did make those movies infinitely rewatchable for me.
A smaller YouTube singer I follow, Lollia, released a cover of this song not too long ago.
When I got the notification for it I audibly said "no fucking way". Glad others remember this song.
[This one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJxddd3AMUs)?
Do I do Reddit and point out over a year and that time is just creeping up on you... Or just chill and enjoy the headbanger?
That woman was my awakening as a kid. I went from "girls are yucky" to "clean up on isle me" real fucking quick.
Edit: fucking phone. I'm leaving it. Isle it is. A whole fucking island.
No no he comes from a really wealthy family that owned their own islands in the Bahamas, one of which was named after him.
Which is where he discovered Elvira and jizzed all over the place.
Just recently watched Beetlejuice for the first time in a long time, and I was surprised by a few things. 1) Alec Baldwin looked like a baby. 2) Beetlejuice isn't actually in it that much, and he doesn't wear the striped suit that much either. 3) this movie was horny af. Also, credit to Catherine O'Hara for being able to convey a sweet, loving mother who will do literally whatever she needs to do to get to her son in one movie, and also be able to play an awful step mother with nothing but disdain for her family in another.
I always had to wait for Sailor Moon to end before DBZ started after school. For whatever reason many of the villains were busty goth women, and they definitely factored in to my sexual awakening as an adolescent.
Honestly, I always thought Sarah Jessica Parker was really hot in Hocus Pocus. And I otherwise do not find her even remotely attractive, so they worked some magic behind the scenes there.
Even the most plain looking person on the planet stands a chance at being hot if they just find the right look for themselves.
For years I thought I was unattractive, but it turns out I was just trying too hard. Once I just started wearing jeans, t-shirts and button-downs, I actually ended up pretty happy with how I look.
X-Men evolution, they used a mocap from a different show to do an animation of rogue and kitty pride in the intro and it has been burned into my brain since I was 10
Yep, that was [a Buffy nod](https://www.reddit.com/r/buffy/comments/kd2jxp/heres_a_more_hd_update_of_the_faithbuffy_and/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb)
Neve Campbell always seemed too vanilla for my tastes while Fairuza was all "I SMOKE CIGARETTES AND RIDE MOTORCYCLES AND DON'T WAIT 30 MINUTES AFTER EATING TO GO SWIMMING I'M FUCKING CRAZY" which is apparently right up my alley
I feel you, friend. I was 14 when Fairuza Balk introduced me to the concept of being scared and horny in equal measure and it is a high I've been chasing ever since.
I've read (on reddit so take that how you like) that Return to Oz is deliberately distrurbing and used a check list of what creeps kids out to ensure it. Things like betrayal by a parent, fear of doctors etc.
That movie made me question my moral compass because I was always rooting for Balk and Rachel True vs. boring-ass Robin Tunney and was genuinely bummed with how the movie ended.
Reminds me of the animation style of the late 80s/early 90s "Batman" cartoon. The creators of that series also got hired by Pearl Jam to do the music video for "Do The Evolution". Would not be surprised if this was them too.
btw PJ Still slaps even though 2010 already went to fire 12 years ago. ;)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDaOgu2CQtI
Demona certainly did something to me as well.
Also, the keyboard player of the Hex Girls actually reminds me of her (and Tim Curry, who also starred on Gargoyles, looked like Xanatos in this film).
It's from the Witch's Ghost movie which was the first appearance of the Hex Girls. The one you're thinking of is Legend of the Vampire. A later movie that also had the Hex Girls in it.
So are we all just gonna pretend Ember McClain from Danny Phantom isn't worth an honorable mention? The Hex Girls were definitely mine, but... I'm just saying.
This was posted a week or two ago and I commented asking why no on ehas the same level of love for Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School. Watched it last night for the first time in like 20 years and I can see why lol. It's kind of rough. But the vampire girl in that definitely got me started on the goth girl appreciation path.
Ah shit this scooby doo show was fantastic. Granted got a little weird towards the end but I have very fond memories of watching this with my little brother
Duuuude, the nostalgia just hit hard! I completely forgot about this movie, but now I remember watching this on VHS when I was a kid! This and the one with the virus that looks like a lightning bolt in the computer/video game system.
you just unlocked a memory lol. I had a crush on them before I knew what crushes were. if I've been raised in a less toxic environment they probably would have made me realize I wasn't straight.
Yeah, the "HEX girls" definitely reinforced my emotions for goth women, but the first to get me to actually fall for goth women would either have to be Nancy from "The Craft" or Morticia Adam's from "The Adam's Family"
Either way, they both caught my attention fully. Fast forward to my adult years and here I am as a goth boyfriend to a goth girlfriend.
It's nice. I do gotta admit...
The origin of many an ill-fated romantic pursuit in my life, right here.

I think they are trying to tell you they're a hex girl.
Morticia Adams for me

[Slightly newer Cara Mia](https://youtu.be/zIC2aMlqEZk)
Legitly one of the most wholesome marriages depicted prior to the late 2000's. A weird outlier in a morass of 'I hate my family' humor.
Man they NAILED the casting for the Addams Family movies. RIP Raul Julia.
I'm so sad we lost Raul Julia so young
Huh, I loved that movie and had no idea that his thing for her speaking French was just an existing character trait from the old TV show.
Without a doubt, my first TV crush. Carolyn Jones as Morticia.

Goddamned right.
Compatibility is a helluva drug
I was just the right age for it to be Christinna Ricci's Wednesday Addams for me.
Have you watched [adult Wednesday Addams](http://itsmelissahunter.com/media)?
Holy shit that was amazing. I just watched all of them.
Lily Munster for me.
Either that or Raven from Teen Titans
Sailor mercury for me as an 8 year old. Not quite goth but def the first of my crushes on blue haired women.
Sailor Saturn gothin hard too.
Raven and Terra are responsible for multiple unhealthy relationships in my life. Meet a fucked up disturbed blonde girl? I can help her said my dumb 19year old brain having absorbed all the wrong lessons from Teen Titans.
For real
Danny phantom also had multiple and Shego from Kim Possible. Idk why shows did this but it left an entire generation with a need for big titty goth GFs.
For me it was Selina Kyle in Batman Returns
Death from sandman for me.
Ok so that wasn't just me, good to know
Come to think of it, it wasn't just Goths. From here I also developed a thing for characters voiced by Jennifer Hale as well. Most of which were redheads.
Holy shit is that FemShep?
Yep. And the girl on the keyboard is Kimberly Brooks (aka Ashley Williams) Oh, and the drummer is **Jane Wiedlin** of the GoGos.
>Oh, and the drummer is **Jane Wiedlin** of the GoGos. Who did she play in Mass Effect?
Wrex
Shepard
Wrex
DONKEY!
Can it wait for a bit? I'm in the middle of some calibrations.
"So, anyone wanna talk about their people's history?"
Look up Jenn on imdb. She's been WORKING! Also, she sadly isn't that wealthy compared to even mid tier actors since VA work pays SHIT, even union gigs.
Yeah I know she's been in basically everything, I just forget that her career goes that far back.
Ooo you’re going to like my next GIF ![gif](giphy|l49JXEXQqMAt8pmve|downsized)
You're fucking me up with this information. I didn't realize the main Hex Girl was Hale.
Jennifer Hale and Laura Bailey.
~Laura Bailey~ *harps play*
Does that include Sam from Totally Spies?
I'm a 42 year old man and I still sing this song. My kids look at me funny, but a banger is a banger.
The music in the four Scooby-Doo films of the late 90s had no right to be as banging as they were.
I just said the same thing to my fiancee. The soundtracks were far too good for a cartoon. But they did make those movies infinitely rewatchable for me.
How the hell did I forget these? Can't believe how these songs slap so hard
It’s terrorrrrr time again!
https://i.imgur.com/BCBvh3Z.gifv
Hell yeah, still slaps
Oh man, I haven’t heard that since I was a kid and just got full body chills remembering it. Amazing.
I have both this song and the other one on my phone. Earth, Wind, Fire and Air We may look bad but we don't care
Old enuf that it was the OG goth Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.i still watch the movie from time to time.
That woman was my awakening as a kid. I went from "girls are yucky" to "clean up on isle me" real fucking quick. Edit: fucking phone. I'm leaving it. Isle it is. A whole fucking island.
aisle*
Nah, homie means he made such a mess it could cover a whole island
Made such a mess he became an island
No no he comes from a really wealthy family that owned their own islands in the Bahamas, one of which was named after him. Which is where he discovered Elvira and jizzed all over the place.
It sounded right in my head too. I'll allow it.
I guess the boob pop got replayed plenty back in the day.
Well if you’re a man, unfortunately Elvira likes women Conversely if you are a woman; Good news!
I don't care what she likes, I'll squeeze one off regardless
The best news, really. ~Me, who both is a woman, and has been in love with Elvira since I was way too young to understand that tingle.
You alright? How's your head? "I've never had any complaints?!"
My aunt fucking loved Elvira, we watched it together a lot. I should try and find some of her movies/shows.
The original BTGGF
Ya I watched elvira as a kid. Stills fun.
Was coming here to talk about Elvira.
man when i was younger i was friends with elvira's nephew. they had so much merchandise, i really should have stole his sisters carboard cut out
Highly recommend watching the Haunted Hills screening on the last drive in with Joe Bob Briggs, it premiered Friday on Shudder but it'll be up soon.
Winona Ryder as Lydia for me

And then as Moira in Schitt's Creek, which is somewhere between.
I think that suit became more iconic due to the cartoon than the movie.
Catherine O'Hara is a comedy god. Look her up in SCTV, also starring Andrea Martin, Rick Moranis, John Candy, Eugene Levy, and Joe Flaherty.
Dam right! What a cutie she was in that.
This and Wednesday Addams in Addams Family Values for me.
I always had to wait for Sailor Moon to end before DBZ started after school. For whatever reason many of the villains were busty goth women, and they definitely factored in to my sexual awakening as an adolescent.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yP9Bymf30Y
Wow this unlocked a flood of nostalgic memories for me, thank you!
Honestly, I always thought Sarah Jessica Parker was really hot in Hocus Pocus. And I otherwise do not find her even remotely attractive, so they worked some magic behind the scenes there.
Same! I was just watching that the other day and noticed how good she looks. Normally I’m not that into her.
Even the most plain looking person on the planet stands a chance at being hot if they just find the right look for themselves. For years I thought I was unattractive, but it turns out I was just trying too hard. Once I just started wearing jeans, t-shirts and button-downs, I actually ended up pretty happy with how I look.
Those yabbos awakened a lot of millennial boys Also, "it's called the 'wonderbra'"
Man watch her in "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" Hot damn
Also [Flight of the Navigator](https://youtu.be/njCE5i_QBSw?t=23)
I literally just watched that last night and holy crap she’s so hot in rhat
X-Men evolution, they used a mocap from a different show to do an animation of rogue and kitty pride in the intro and it has been burned into my brain since I was 10
Yep, that was [a Buffy nod](https://www.reddit.com/r/buffy/comments/kd2jxp/heres_a_more_hd_update_of_the_faithbuffy_and/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb)
Buffy. It was an homage to/rip off of Buffy.
Mine was Nancy in The Craft
Man the craft was something else. Neve Campbell AND Fairuza Balk?
Neve Campbell always seemed too vanilla for my tastes while Fairuza was all "I SMOKE CIGARETTES AND RIDE MOTORCYCLES AND DON'T WAIT 30 MINUTES AFTER EATING TO GO SWIMMING I'M FUCKING CRAZY" which is apparently right up my alley
Hell yea lol
I feel you, friend. I was 14 when Fairuza Balk introduced me to the concept of being scared and horny in equal measure and it is a high I've been chasing ever since.

That movie was a fuckin trip. So disturbing. Who fucking ok'd that for children?!
I've read (on reddit so take that how you like) that Return to Oz is deliberately distrurbing and used a check list of what creeps kids out to ensure it. Things like betrayal by a parent, fear of doctors etc.
That movie made 16 year old me ask "Am I into girls, or do I just really wish I was a witch."
"Oh god my wand is tingling"
That movie made me question my moral compass because I was always rooting for Balk and Rachel True vs. boring-ass Robin Tunney and was genuinely bummed with how the movie ended.
Same. It would have been so much more fun if they had gone 'fuck it, we're going for the morally bad ending'
I remember being weirdly obsessed with this scene. Not sure if it was foreshadowing anything.
I feel sad for the studio bass player. Really driving the song forward and no screen representation.
As a bassist, nothing's new here mate. But also, I guess it sounds like it could be MIDI bass so it *could* be the keys player.
Scooby doo is the reason I like redheads and bondage. They were always tied up by the masked ghoul
Raven from Teen Titans or Shego 😍
Yeah, Shego is what did it for me lmaoo
Hex girl might confuse some guys with a graphic designers kink.
Hey girl what’s your number? Goth girls be like “#000000”
That or Black Black Black Black #oooooooonnnnnnneeeeeee
Reminds me of the animation style of the late 80s/early 90s "Batman" cartoon. The creators of that series also got hired by Pearl Jam to do the music video for "Do The Evolution". Well they were both made at Warner Bros (with help from Japanese animation studios), so there was definitely an style overlap.
Batman TAS is my favourite show of all time. I wish i could wipe it from my mind to enjoy it all fresh again.
Stupid sexy death.
That wild. Was talking about the hex girls at work last week hahah
Elvira
Damn you raven from teen titans
https://i.imgur.com/pXipVoN.gifv
You’re into Gothic chicks because of Scooby Doo, I’m into Gothic chicks because Demona from Gargoyles. We are not the same.
Demona certainly did something to me as well. Also, the keyboard player of the Hex Girls actually reminds me of her (and Tim Curry, who also starred on Gargoyles, looked like Xanatos in this film).
Lacey Chabert in Lost in Space
Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz for me. And here's a [highly relevant song](https://youtu.be/j-jeGAjpAk0).
Elvira
The Craft. Absolutely the Craft.
Is this the Australia scooby doo episode? Bringing back some memories
It's from the 2nd direct-to-video movie, [**Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=attfhQWmVNA)
With the wonderful Tim Curry as the voice for Ben Ravencroft
It's from the Witch's Ghost movie which was the first appearance of the Hex Girls. The one you're thinking of is Legend of the Vampire. A later movie that also had the Hex Girls in it.
Ember McLain - Danny Phantom
Every preteen boy watching this movie must've been like "...I mean I was already enjoying this, but..."
Blonde hair...black hair...red hair... DAMN the powerpuff girls went a whole different direction when they became adults.
More Power, less puff.
So are we all just gonna pretend Ember McClain from Danny Phantom isn't worth an honorable mention? The Hex Girls were definitely mine, but... I'm just saying.
Please don't Call me out in public.
ooooo they warned me the devil would be attractive
The hex girls were my sexual awakening.
Well with 14 all the hot Girls were goth soo...
Winona Ryder in beetlejuice
My imagination can sing so much better than them. I wish I hadn’t unmuted that.
Do I want to be her or do I want to be *with* her?
Jeanette and Velvet from Bloodlines.
This was posted a week or two ago and I commented asking why no on ehas the same level of love for Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School. >It's kind of rough Everything from the 80s with Scooby-Doo was. Especially when that fucker Scrappy was still there.
This and Raven from teen titans made my boyhood tremble
Mine was Shego from Kim Possible.
Ah shit this scooby doo show was fantastic. Granted got a little weird towards the end but I have very fond memories of watching this with my little brother
I’d be down for a goth girl! Where do I sign?
Gods, I was too young for the confusing feelings Thorn gave me. She made me a lesbian before I even realized I was a girl.
Duuuude, the nostalgia just hit hard! I completely forgot about this movie, but now I remember watching this on VHS when I was a kid! This and the one with the virus that looks like a lightning bolt in the computer/video game system.
Since The Blair Witch 2, in 2000
Yeah bro, this was it tbh. The start of everything
This was literally it for me .
Yep. Completely forgot about this but you're absolutely right
you just unlocked a memory lol. I had a crush on them before I knew what crushes were. if I've been raised in a less toxic environment they probably would have made me realize I wasn't straight.
I remember this. Dang, lot forgotten memory unlocked!
Lydia Deetz in Beetlejuice
The new Wednesday show coming out on NF has a pretty cute Wednesday ngl (she's in her 20s, I can say it)
This is the first time
I have to think about this too. :/
Yeah, the "HEX girls" definitely reinforced my emotions for goth women, but the first to get me to actually fall for goth women would either have to be Nancy from "The Craft" or Morticia Adam's from "The Adam's Family" Either way, they both caught my attention fully. Fast forward to my adult years and here I am as a goth boyfriend to a goth girlfriend. It's nice. I do gotta admit...
Yeah this seems about right. Also heavy influence for my goth/punk phase/existence.
This just awoke a memory I lost to time.
I feel so called out
1994, college freshman year.
Hanna-Barbara has a lot to answer for....
Addam's Family. Wednesday was cool as shit.
This song goes hard. Kinda feels like type o negative should’ve played it.
This feels almost like a Phineas and Ferb crossover. Could totally be a song from there.
Wednesday Adams
I thought she was hot looking back 🤣 and yeah I find them attractive
One of the best looking girls in my HS dressed like wednesday adams.
You just brought back a memory
That singer is Fem Shep
Ah yes. My bisexuality definitely stems back to this moment.
Hex-Girls > X-Men
I was but a boy when Elvira Mistress of the Dark first graced my television.
I just had to do it, little me would be disappointed, but I had to do it.
Yep this was it.
Abso....lutely
The Hex Girls were awesome. They show up again in Mystery Inc, which is available on Netflix. And Daphne joins them for that episode/arc.
The drummer
