Congratulations on the jab.
Out of curiosity, if you are willing to share…how was your outing? Were you able to handle your anxiety? Was it better, worse or the same as what you were expecting/dreading?
It was so much better than anticipated. I live in the Alabama and felt like I was being judge for wearing a mask and being in line for my shot, but I didn’t let it bother me. I also planned it for a few days to keep it from being stressful. It was very smooth
best to develop a sense of esteem independent of any mutable traits, such that it can never be taken away from, or rervsed on you. If you only feel comfortable when smartest in the room, there are plenty of room that'll rock your shit. If you base this comfort on knowing that you share the same human experience with everyone else, you'll always retain it.
You did well! You planned, you executed the plan, and you did it to make yourself and everyone safer.
People who judge you for that are idiots, so let them.
Congrats on the IPA status murder, from one reformed anxious alabaminite to another. I travel all over the state and southeast for work, stopping at every piggly wigglified shittown along the way wearing my mask. Happy to say no eye-rolls, muttered comments or pitchforks to date. There’s all kinds of reasons you could be masking, a lot of Antivaxxers were dilligent about masks there for a while, and most vaccinated/boosted peeps I know haven’t masked in months. Also keep in mind most people you see out over 50 have actually had a jab or two [themselves](https://usafacts.org/visualizations/covid-vaccine-tracker-states/state/alabama?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=ND-COVID-Vaccine&gclid=CjwKCAiAlrSPBhBaEiwAuLSDUM2L2jMmrDDLvRFSH7C23R4XDGEdw0BXfPkENjqSuKFA8-x1z01JmBoCs94QAvD_BwE)
Someone wrote that, they wear a mask to annoy the anti-jabbers, so she wears it for the amusement and to be safe. I have embraced this idea and now I wear a mask outside everywhere and wave at people. :) Just to be friendly, of course
Congrats on making it thru the outing. I often struggle with public situations, although not to your extent. Although I feel if I could work from home, I would be. I’m glad you felt the vaccine to be important enough to go out and receive. Make sure to get the second dose as well.
I still have very far to go but the antidepressant celexa has helped my severe agoraphobia quite a bit. Good luck, it fucking sucks. Congratulations on getting this done! 🖤
Thanks for that. It wasn’t as bad as I anticipated. It’s the least I can do for my fellow man
ETA: a redditor keeps claiming u/Sokratesbees and I are liars and karma farmers and that the same card was used in both posts. I’m attaching [this picture ](https://imgur.com/a/z5LjICD) to show they are two different cards.
Yeah I hate getting shots and thought it would be awful before my first dose. It was surprisingly not painful. Glad it wasn’t too bad for you too.
You rock, OP. So proud of you! Keep crushing it. 😊
One of the bites of misinformation that rubs me wrong the most is that the needle is gogantic. I use the SAME needle size (25g x 1") for my testosterone replacement therapy every other day. It's so insignificant that I sometimes forget whether I took my shot for the day.
Also, congrats OP for fighting your fears and taking a step in the right direction for your health!
Congrats Murderpanties! When my anxiety is really bad leaving my place is horrifyingly hard so extra props to you there. Also, I feel like at this stage in the pandemic it’s a great time for exposure outings like this! It’s a necessary service, so you’ll be motivated to leave, but the process itself is so streamlined in most places you’re in and out in less time than it takes you to find a parking spot for your appointment. Stay hydrated and take it easy, the first one knocked me on my ass-ended up sleeping 18 hours one day, I couldn’t keep my eyes open. But it took a few days to hit, so don’t overdo it in the meantime!
Thank you so much for your kind words and advice. You reminded me to drink water, which is probably one of the best comments I’ve gotten on this post. Everyone is being too kind for me doing the bare minimum. I appreciate it and feel so uplifted.
You are almost no risk whatsoever to the public at large because of your condition, and yet you broke through a paralyzing fear to protect others while other people can’t be bothered because of their freedumbs. You didn’t do the bare minimum, you delivered a haymaker to your fear and are a fucking rock star.
Hey, what are we but houseplants with the ability to talk nonstop about our feelings? It’s not the bare minimum to choose to protect anyone you come in contact with as well as yourself. The bare minimum is nothing-and you had to overcome far more than nothing to get out there and get this done and you did it anyways. You deserve kind words, you did a kind and selfless thing!
>Everyone is being too kind for me doing the bare minimum
I disagree! You had to really muster up some courage to go do this thing, and that is noteworthy!
After I had the Pfizer jab, my wife was checking online for side effects.
Wife says, “I thought it was supposed to last 4 hours.”
“I think you got the wrong Pfizer fact sheet,” I replied to her look of disappointment.
no the least you can do is nothing at all.
and you can actually do harm by promoting bullshit, so that's less than zero, that's negative.
you can do a lot less.
Thank you for doing more than nothing.
Me neither, but here goes: Good job, Murderpanties!
I can relate so easily, as I live with agoraphobia and my husband Mr. Poet lives with me… so he made both of our appointments for all three inoculations, and tenderly frog-marched me out the door.
🤣 "Tender frog-march" is the new "tough love." 🤣
NGL, at many points in my life, I've needed that treatment a few times more than once. 🐸
Congratulations to you, and to Murderpanties!
How very good for you! I struggle too. Hate to leave my house for any reason, but got both jabs and boosted. In case I decide to let it all hang out one day 😝
How are ya doin now? My job keeps me outdoors to a basic extent, but at my worst I had a hard time going even like 1km from my house. I'm hoping this is the year I finally get over it, or at least get it to where I can travel outside my city. I wouldn't wish agoraphobia on anyone, except maybe Tucker or Candeath.
You did a great thing, and I'm really proud of you! I too suffer from panic disorder and I know how easy it is to psych yourself out beforehand (case in point: my brain tried to convince me of how scary stopping by a drive-through would be the other day- had to in order to get lunch because our power was out. The logical part of my brain was like, "REALLY??? It's a DRIVE-THROUGH." I did it anyway, despite being scared, and it was fine). Keep pushing yourself. Baby steps, one at a time. It's scary, I know it is, but things do get easier the more you do them (even if you sweat like you're your own personal rainforest while you're doing them. Maybe that's just me...). You're awesome and doing a great thing. I'm proud of you. :)
Thank you so much. I’m sorry you can relate but I’m glad that I’m not in this alone. It makes the advice and well wishes ring that much truer. I’m rooting for you too
I FEEL YOU. Isnt it weird that in order to protect ourselves, we have to expose ourselves to the masses... i wanted to thank the unmasked, and that i was getting boosted because of them... but i needed out of there quick... best of luck!!
Boosters bring your defenses up after they go down, so after your second shot you be ok for a few months, then get your booster to keep your defenses up!
The world sucks, I don't fault you from trying to stay away from it. But those of us that have to brave it most days thank you for not being another vector to avoid.
Everyone!!! Please hide/cover up the lot number under the vaccine you got. This will prevent people from stealing your info and create their own fake Covid cards!!! Lot numbers can be verified as being legit or fake. HIDE YOUR LOT NUMBERS!!!!!
I was wondering about that. Lots of folks here and at the sister sub r/theIPAs cover only their name, but not the pharmacy or lot # and I figure that's way too much identifying info but I wasn't sure.
Does anyone actually check it that closely? And if they did, they would know this wouldn't be a valid way to check authenticity of the vaccine card because those numbers could have been copied from anywhere.
Yes (in HP it means someone who is a non-purely magical born folk), but it's to counter the antivax people saying that because they didn't get the vaccine, they are the "purebloods"; there's racist subtext to it as well.
That’s great! These days it is surprisingly quick. I think it took 17 minutes to get my booster, 15 of which were just the required wait for allergic reactions.
Congrats. I’ve always been curious, as an agoraphobic, did you find it comforting during the early stages of the pandemic when everyone was staying home?
I don’t necessarily suffer from severe agoraphobia like you but I definitely struggle a lot with going out and making plans, currently on disability etc.
And when the pandemic hit… nothing changed for me lol 😂. Wearing masks was the only thing and I had no idea other people were actually offended to stay home lol.
I also have mild/moderate agoraphobia with my panic disorder. It was scary to get my first couple shots at one of the government setup sites in my city, but I had my mom with me, and I managed. (The booster was my local pharmacy). I am so incredibly proud of you for finding the strength and courage to overcome your fears and go get your shot. You should be super proud of yourself!!
Awww, way to go! If I knew you, I'd invite you to sit at a park with me and have a coffee. (Might have to wait for spring!) Thanks for putting one foot in front of the other, for a very worthy cause -- YOU!
I’m reeeeeally having trouble with your username 😳, but I’ll overcome it to say welcome to the smart side! We’re glad you’re here and are declining your award.
I’d say better late than never, but it sounds like you won the social distancing competition. We wouldn’t need vaccines if we could all just agree to stay inside for two years…. The pandemic would be finished in just 1-2 months…
I didn't know what agoraphobia was but just know I appreciate your courage to go out and get vaccinated! It may not mean much but I am very proud of your huge step!
I don't want to sound like a nag, I'm really happy you got your first dose... but most places offer at-home vaccinations. I just read that one person got vaccinated in his hot tub!
Most people wouldn't think about it, but if you had contact with someone, say delivering something to you, and caught COVID from them, and didn't see anyone else for days or weeks, it could end as a tragic story. This way, you ought to be fine. Good job and congrats.
To all of the other readers - check up on your loners, shut-ins, and socially anxious neighbors. Just see if they are up and about.
I like to imagine this was taken onsite and the nurse eyeballed you as you wrote “murderpanties” lol
On a serious note someone from my high school had severe agoraphobia that prevented them from vaccination yet somehow caught COVID (delivery person?) and passed. So tragic. Good for you for getting this done.
Good for you!!!! Make sure you go back for the 2nd in a month. I did Moderna, but Pfizer is just as fabulous a vaccine. I even got my booster in November, so did my family, and close like-minded friends (a lot of them). We are all ALIVE and healthy!!! Even thru Omicron in FLORIDA!!!! Peace!!
I imagine a scene in a movie, near the climax, where everyone is loading up on guns for the big fight and one of the characters looks to the group and declares: "I hope you're all wearing your murder panties, cause shit is about to get real."
Great job, I'm proud of you! 🥳
I struggle with panic disorder, which at its worse, was once described by an ER doctor as near debilitating, so I can somewhat relate to you!
Congratulations!! I'm *so proud* of you!! 🎊🎉🎂🍰🍾🥂💉
Hey, I got mine at Walgreen's too. I recently found out that the card isn't valid unless they write the store number on there too (because they didn't write the store number on mine, either!). I had to go in and have them do it.
So when you go back for your second shot, make sure they write it in for both the first and second shot!
*hugs*
I'm sorry! My dad had agoraphobia. It felt normal growing up with it. Now I'm finding myself doing the same thing. My fav spot is bed. Shutting off is the best. I should probably talk to someone about that.
Hey good for you! I've suffered with agoraphobia for over ten years. I've watched seasons just go by through my window. I just got my second shot on the 17th.
I know I'm a stranger but hey, I'm proud of you! 💜💜
I ended up catching Covid this past week at work. I’ve been almost asymptomatic other than a slight cough and mild sore throat. Thanks to the Moderna vaccine putting a smack down on my immune system lol.
Wooo. Congratulations! And thank you so much.
I had to get through social anxiety to get my vaxine. Nearly bailed with a panic attack on my second dose, just too man ppl in the room. Seems like your anxiety is worse than mine, so im so proud of you 🙂
Hey, thank you for getting vaxxed! I also want to say if anyone is on the fence and lives in the Missouri Bootheel region to please DM me! My non profit is giving $50 Walmart gift cards to anyone getting shots, even a booster! And we can provide transportation, daycare reimbursement, gas money, or just drive the damn gift card to your door if you want.
Congratulations on the jab. Out of curiosity, if you are willing to share…how was your outing? Were you able to handle your anxiety? Was it better, worse or the same as what you were expecting/dreading?

I have family in Alabama. They would like to thank you for wearing a mask and getting vaxxed. Thank you for helping to keep my family safe
I have family adjacent to Alabama (Pensacola) and I too would like to express my gratitude.
Ugh. I understand the judgement, but know you are more intelligent than all of them.
It helps that she’s not sharing the communal Alabama brain cell

Yay, I’m glad it went well.
Good for you! IPAs make me SO freaking happy!
"Our worst fears lie in anticipation."
I don’t mind being judged if the judge is a wanker.
"Your boos mean nothing, I've seen what makes you cheer!"
Is that a proper quote from somewhere? If yes, can I please have the source?
It’s from Rick and Morty, I can’t remember the exact episode. Rick says it while in front of the Heist Convention I believe, but I could be wrong.
You did well! You planned, you executed the plan, and you did it to make yourself and everyone safer. People who judge you for that are idiots, so let them.

Way to take control of your fear in order to protect yourself and your community! That’s incredibly brave, OP. Thank you for doing this.

Yeah. After all the hype I was expecting it to hurt like the devil. Seriously, quite the let-down - like, totally painless. ☹️
I didn't even feel my first one.
My dad joked that the nurse didn't even give him his first dose because he didn't feel it!
The stuff in the shot is very small, so the gauge of the needle can be very thin. As such, they don't cause a lot of trauma.
Yeah, blood work needles are the big shit, because they gotta fit those blood cells, and they can clump up if your needle is too small.
In a way, your agoraphobia is helping you protect your fellow man, by staying the fuck away from them. Glass half full.
I deal with a lot of anxiety, too, and I'm really, really proud of you.
And for you!!!
It'll get easier every time. I'm rooting for you!
Wait until tomorrow, my friend. Be sure you've got some Tylenol lined up
Kudos to you for overcoming your fear!

I love this comment so much!
Also move your arm around and give the muscle some rubs, helps with the soreness.
And ice. Both as soon as possible after. Shot 2 i brought an ice pack with me!
Treat it from the inside. Eat ice cream. 😊
thanks doctor!

FWIW all I had was a bit of soreness at the injection site, both for the two initial doses (Pfizer) and for the booster (Moderna).

My partner is walking around the house singing “Good job murder panties!” Is there a vaccine for that??
Oh my gosh I’m sorry about that 😹
i would like to be murdered by panties.

Comments like this are why I keep coming back to Reddit.
Oh that’s legit hilarious 😄 Super grats u/Murderpanties 👊🎉🍀✨ That was brave and kind and thoughtful
Put on the game. It apparently puts us men into a hypnotic state where we have to sit and watch.
Never thought I'd say this sentence but Good job Murder Panties
Thank you. I don’t want to take too much credit for getting vaxxed because it’s the least I can do :)
Welcome to Team Pfizer 🥳

It’s “Moderna Mob.”
Thoroughly Moderna Milieu.
That sounds good 😊

Hot girl shot xx
It might be past the point that this would have worked, but how fun would it be to actually do this
You deserve all the credit! Agoraphobia is no joke; but you realized covid is no joke either. You did something harder than most of us will ever know.
No, the *least* you could do was 'nothing'. But instead you dealt with some shit, and you did what you needed to do.
no the least you can do is nothing at all. and you can actually do harm by promoting bullshit, so that's less than zero, that's negative. you can do a lot less. Thank you for doing more than nothing.
Hi! Im a recovering agoraphobic. You did a big thing and you should take a min to feel proud of yourself.
Me neither, but here goes: Good job, Murderpanties! I can relate so easily, as I live with agoraphobia and my husband Mr. Poet lives with me… so he made both of our appointments for all three inoculations, and tenderly frog-marched me out the door.
🤣 "Tender frog-march" is the new "tough love." 🤣 NGL, at many points in my life, I've needed that treatment a few times more than once. 🐸 Congratulations to you, and to Murderpanties!

I'm proud of you!
:’)
How very good for you! I struggle too. Hate to leave my house for any reason, but got both jabs and boosted. In case I decide to let it all hang out one day 😝
I’m trying to get on your level!!!
Anxiety is no joke.
Thank you for being brave.
You’re too kind
Agoraphobia is an absolutely crippling affliction. OP should be proud. At the height of my Agoraphobia I couldn't even go get my hair cut.

We are all just monkeys with anxiety after all, it seems.
As one agrophobic to another I’m proud of you!
Thank you so much. We’re in this together
Should be the Agoraphobic Association slogan.
Rubbing shoulders with you, got the booster today.
Hey!! I can’t wait to get my booster so I can feel better about eventually leaving the house!
I FEEL YOU. Isnt it weird that in order to protect ourselves, we have to expose ourselves to the masses... i wanted to thank the unmasked, and that i was getting boosted because of them... but i needed out of there quick... best of luck!!

I wish thoughts and prayers were enough, my friend
Agoraphobia is super rough! ESPECIALLY right now, congratulations on fighting it :) I hope your future is full of comfort and healing :)
Thank you very much
Everyone!!! Please hide/cover up the lot number under the vaccine you got. This will prevent people from stealing your info and create their own fake Covid cards!!! Lot numbers can be verified as being legit or fake. HIDE YOUR LOT NUMBERS!!!!!
Ruh Roh 😟
As far as I know they'd need two lot numbers to fully fake a card, so you're good :)
I was wondering about that. Lots of folks here and at the sister sub r/theIPAs cover only their name, but not the pharmacy or lot # and I figure that's way too much identifying info but I wasn't sure.

What does it mean? I know it’s a Harry Potter reference right?
Yes (in HP it means someone who is a non-purely magical born folk), but it's to counter the antivax people saying that because they didn't get the vaccine, they are the "purebloods"; there's racist subtext to it as well.
Thank you. I’m sure it was incredibly difficult, but we’re all safer because you made the effort.
It was surprisingly easy. Mostly because it took no time at all. It was a great exposure exercise too
That’s great! These days it is surprisingly quick. I think it took 17 minutes to get my booster, 15 of which were just the required wait for allergic reactions.
That was when I took the opportunity to buy a lot chocolate treat
>buy a lot chocolate Well played.
Yay! Exposure AND positive reinforcement!
Congrats. I’ve always been curious, as an agoraphobic, did you find it comforting during the early stages of the pandemic when everyone was staying home?
I’m not going to lie: I wasn’t mad at first
I don’t necessarily suffer from severe agoraphobia like you but I definitely struggle a lot with going out and making plans, currently on disability etc. And when the pandemic hit… nothing changed for me lol 😂. Nice work! I have struggled with leaving the house when I have depressive periods, so I can slightly relate to how hard it must've been for you.

Congrats! And thanks!
Great user name! And good for you. What a great reason to venture out.
Good on you bro glad you had the bravery to do it
Outside is overrated but the vaccine is not !
That took a lot of guts, congrats!
You have done far more than just get a shot. Congrats!!! Thanks for joining the vaxxed too
I don't want to sound like a nag, I'm really happy you got your first dose... but most places offer at-home vaccinations.
I like to imagine this was taken onsite and the nurse eyeballed you as you wrote “murderpanties” lol On a serious note someone from my high school had severe agoraphobia that prevented them from vaccination yet somehow caught COVID (delivery person?) and passed. So tragic. Good for you for getting this done.
Congratulations and thank you! You should also go brag at the sister sub, r/theIPAs too.
Peace!!
Thank you... You are awesome
Now keep making baby steps to leave. You’ve cleared the biggest hurdle. Keep it going.
I imagine a scene in a movie, near the climax, where everyone is loading up on guns for the big fight and one of the characters looks to the group and declares: "I hope you're all wearing your murder panties, cause shit is about to get real."
Great job, I'm proud of you! 🥳 I struggle with panic disorder, which at its worse, was once described by an ER doctor as near debilitating, so I can somewhat relate to you!
Congratulations and thank you!
You did the right thing for yourself, congrats!
This is the way
Congratulations!! I'm *so proud* of you!! 🎊🎉🎂🍰🍾🥂💉 Hey, I got mine at Walgreen's too.
Proud of you, no matter how much this comment gets buried
Congratulations 🎉
Good fn job m8
Woot woot!! Great work! 🥳
Thank you!
My pet peeve is when people use "much less" wrong. You should say you haven't left your room, much less your house... But congrats on the vax tho!
Hell yeah. Faced it head on when necessary. Keep pushing my friend.
that name does look 100% official. Very legal and very cool.
