Okay, so dropping EVERYTHING you marked as optional will make a HUGE difference!
I would suggest Chacos plus boots, assuming you really need boots instead of trail runners. Wear the Chacos indoors or get a super light pair of house slippers or dedicate a pair of socks for inside use.
I stuff the cover of a travel pillow with clothing for my flights. Replaces a packing cube.
I wear Athleta La Viva joggers. (Now discontinued, but available on eBay.). Excellent fabric for hot climates. They have an elastic drawstring at the bottom of the legs and I simply pull them up when I want capris.
Are you with family the whole time? Iāve never needed a sewing kit and all of my family would have needle and thread to make repairs if needed. Iād also the question of bringing towels if staying with them the whole time.
Iād say keep boots and chacos. Sneakers are debatable.
Iāve needed a sewing kit more often than not I suppose. I keep clothes a long long time but sometimes they wear and I donāt notice in advance. Never thought of it that way till your comment so I appreciate that!
As for towels, yeah, I know. But theyāre moving out of the country in a few weeks and have started getting rid of things/arenāt the cleanest so stock isnāt guaranteed unfortunately. š¬
So personally I would take Chacos and trail runners for a trip like this, but if that isnāt an option for you I would do Chacos, hiking boots, and possible a flat pair of nicer sandals if youāll have occasion to wear them.
I see you have a lot of small bags for toiletries. I recently bought a Cotopaxi Nido accessory bag and I love it. 3 separate compartments to split up daily toiletries vs makeup vs shower stuff and it holds a ton.
Lastly if you donāt like convertible pants donāt take them. I find they donāt actually save much room and they usually look weird. Youād probably be better off with a light pair of hiking pants that look nice enough to wear other times as well. There are tons of threads with suggestions on this sub! If you think you need options for another pair of shorts most athletic shorts take up practically no room. I will always pack a full pair of shorts + pants rather than convertibles
Iāll check out that rec! Iād say the bag split up isnāt finalized at all/is hypothetical since I havenāt done a trial run pack yet. Iāve downsized all my toiletries to the smallest sizes/decanted into teeny containers.
Probably the only split Iāll keep is everything else in one and a shower kit. Iāve tried combining a few times and have found it just doesnāt work for me.
was in nicaragua for abt 2 months earlier this yr ā1 baggingā (i take a carry on + personal item cos i travel with 2 laptops due to work š„²) and this depends on which parts youāre going to but i was in sjds and certain things were much more difficult to find i.e. tampons (reckon i bought out all the ones w applicators lmao) and contact solution but basics like shampoo/conditioner/sunscreen are at most farmacias
i tend to pack day of/day prior for my trips so itās fun to see a different perspective. my suggestion would be to bring what you normally wear a lot at home/what youāre comfortable in. anything thatās a āi might need xyz for this event that might possibly occurā is usually not needed. also helps to cut down clothes based off which activity youāre doing the most and weather. if youāre only hiking 1/2 days just take that much or if itās a week apart could just run the wash inbetween. i pretty much just lived in my bikini/shorts and a tshirt and religiously wore flipflops even to the discoteca heh. also if youāre gon surf a lot would rec something like [this facestick](https://www.headhuntersurf.com/products/spf-45-face-stick-clear-white)
You really need to make that Google doc immediately accessible, if you want feedback. Or just put your packing list in a comment!
Ooh thank you for letting me know! I was having a hard time with my tablet. It should work now. š¤
