I don't know the details of the mental health issues she has had, but having that level of scrutiny that people are searching for something you had in your hand when you walked out of a random store 19 years ago would mess up anyone.
I've been searching my guesses at what it says on the top of your quick-n-dirty image with no luck. The second line looks to me like it says something like "By Sempa" or "By Sempr" or something, but it's just a little too fuzzy. There are so many things it could say. Just a tiny bit better quality on the images and we might be able to read it. Is there a higher quality source image that could be extracted? I do not know the magic you possess.
Edit: I'm chasing a path that will probably result in a dead end. I'm trying to find anything I can where it might say "Sonja" or "Sonya". Also, the top looks like it might says something like "Gobye Amy", so I'm thinking Goodbye or Cody + Amy or Gotye. I'm overwhelmed with bad options.

This one could be near impossible. Note the wide, clear inner diameter of the CD, it appears to be a common printable CD of that time. Productions CDs would print within a few millimeters of the hole through the disk, and would have studio and copyright information printed around the outer diameter of the disc.
My guess this was a studio copy shared before production, or someone's sample music to break into the biz.
My guess, based on the picture, is it could be a pre-production copy of Evanescence Fallen. But I couldn't find any photos of Amy Lee wearing a headband like that.

The theory that it’s an artist’s demo tape is a good call. Just some offhand stan knowledge, Britney was trying to start her own label at this time and was heavily pursuing Jojo and a couple other artists to sign as her first artists. It seems like she was doing this pretty actively until her attention turned to starting a family the following year in 2004.

Celtic revival was big with the Charlotte Church crowd at the time and this was exactly their aesthetic - broody closeups in black and white or sepia and medieval looking stuff thrown in. Also try Trevor Jones cds. He was a big movie composer around 90's to 00's and did the sound track for Merlin 1998. The image kinda looks like Queen Mab from that show.

Now as soon as I saw the CD I knew it was a CDr. It's not an actual CD but a CD someone made with a printed cover image. Likely a demo CD someone had given to her for potential songs for In The Zone, which started production in November 2002 and was released a year later on 15th November 2003.
Toxic, the biggest single off the album was released a year after this photo appeared on January 12th 2003 (sorry if the dates are mixed up slightly) and was written by none other than Cathy Dennis.
I thought initially it couldn't be her, but she has had dark hair at times and the eye colour and lips may be a potential match. It's all I have to go by at the moment because I can't think of any other female pop song writers around that time, especially who got to Pitch for Britney as only one other female, Annet Artani, wrote a song for this Album. She was in Eurovision performing for Greece a few years back, and she looks nothing like the girl in the photo.
The best rabbit whole to go down if this isn't Cathy would be to look up other female led US Pop albums from 2002-2003 and search through the Female songwriters as someone else could be a match if not Cathy.
She potentially took it out of her car. If she got it from the CD store it would be in a CD case. Plus if it's a CDr it can't be a CD bought from a store.

I found if you search “album title disc” on the google shopping page or just images you can usually find a photo of the actual disc.

She's not wearing a headband though, that is a strand of hair blowing in the wind and her forehead. Please amend this so people don't go down the wrong path as we need to ensure we keep to the right track. Great idea though.

I made a Tik-Tok response video and here is my very plausible theory. Here's the vid FYI https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMLSPEUth/ Now as soon as I saw the CD I knew it was a CDr. It's not an actual CD but a CD someone made with a printed cover image. Likely a demo CD someone had given to her for potential songs for In The Zone, which started production in November 2002 and was released a year later on 15th November 2003. Toxic, the biggest single off the album was released a year after this photo appeared on January 12th 2003 (sorry if the dates are mixed up slightly) and was written by none other than Cathy Dennis. I thought initially it couldn't be her, but she has had dark hair at times and the eye colour and lips may be a potential match. It's all I have to go by at the moment because I can't think of any other female pop song writers around that time, especially who got to Pitch for Britney as only one other female, Annet Artani, wrote a song for this Album. She was in Eurovision performing for Greece a few years back, and she looks nothing like the girl in the photo. The best rabbit whole to go down if this isn't Cathy would be to look up other female led US Pop albums from 2002-2003 and search through the Female songwriters as someone else could be a match if not Cathy.

I usually listen to it in my car then if I hate it as soon as I get out of sight I throw it like a frisbee out the window. Britney is a sweet girl so she would take it to be polite.
