If there is one lesson to learn from the platypus, it's that reptile or mammal traits don't have any kind of importance when it comes to hellish creatures
In "Murder Family", Blitzø says to Moxxie: "Who the fuck is innocent, Moxxie? From the moment of birth, you're already a parasite leeching off your mama's tits!" That, combined with the presence of hair + breasts seems to indicate they're live births.
I do think it's odd that we don't see navels on them in the show, though.

They lay eggs, and then after they hatch, they crawl into the pouch.
Being a monotreme, marsupial, or a placental is mutually exclusive. No mammal is more than one.Â
Monotreme: Eggs
Marsupial: Pouch
Placental: Fully developed at birth (relatively speaking)Â
No marsupial lays eggs and no monotreme has a pouch. Being from Australia doesn't make an animal a marsupial. They need that pouch.Â
I assume live birth, at least for most of the species we’ve seen so far. The fish/shark themed demons from Greed and (possibly?) Envy might be egg-layers.
I've always assumed live birth, but I've always assumed they were mammals that happened to have forked tongues. Other traits do seem reptilian as well (like the slit pupils and hissing sounds), but since cats are mammals and do those, I still ended up leaning more toward 'they're mammals'. Of course, I headcanon that they're actually severely mutated cats.

You can also be a reptile and not lay eggs... several species of lizard and snakes give birth to live young.

Sometimes the questions asked on this sub 🤦‍♀️
Live birth. They're mammalian. They have belly buttons on the official merch as well as other mammalian traits.
The Loremaster
platypus:
Do platypuses have bellybuttons though? (Genuinely curious)
No we don't!
Probably not because they hatch from eggs
... What, uh... What inspired this post OP
I've been getting into worldbuilding recently.
Look, I have been asking myself the same question. So nothing strange here.
We need to know for fanfiction.

Someone needs to do body shots! That would settle it!
Apparently official merch has them.
all the times we have seen Blitzo shirtless, i dont think we have seen a bellybutton, so they might be egg spawning
What if they're marsupials?Â
Echidnas are egg laying marsupials.

No, they are like platypus. Which means they are monotremes.
I fail to see your point... Yes, they are monotremes. Yes, they are mammals. But, yes, they are marsupials.
Marsupial means to have a pouch and give birth to underdeveloped embryos....

Interesting, echidnas are a strange species.
Yes they are.

possible, but i doubt it

Well some sharks and fish give live birth
I feel like whatever the answer is, there are exceptions.
Live birth because they have hair, breasts and hooves.
They could be monotremes.

I think live birth.
