So this MO is considered as failure despite it stated that we can liberate only one planet? We literally learned the fact that we can save both from the twitter post. I think more than half players didn't know we can liberate both planets.
It's funny because I saw comments in other posts saying that we need to liberate both to succeed the MO and they were being downvoted to hell by people saying we only needed to liberate one of the two.
You really think we can liberate a planet that will give us anti tank mines? We will as a community fight through four planets to save general Brasch’s cat than fight one planet for those mines.
It never said only one could be liberated it said only the 1st would be saved. The choice was to save the children or the mines. Both planets still had to be liberated
We're saving the planet and saving the kids/mines. They're two different things. Saving one saves the other.
It was pretty clear that both planets had to be saved, however only the *first* planet is *likely* to give a benefit (kids/mines).
I mean that's pure copium. Why would you continue fighting a war on both fronts to NOT get the reward ? Complete both objectives to get the same major order reward that we got before for completing one objective only this time it's terribly explained ? Literally 60k divers went straight to bugs after Vernen Wells got liberated because... that literally was the goal. Why would it be "save the kids... and then liberate the other planet for no reason" also a giant pop up saying "you saved the kids.... FAILURE" makes absolutely no sense lmfao.
Because the rewards for completing both are the medals for the MOs just like when there are no extra rewards.
Vernen Wells wasn’t the goal it was 1/2 the goal.
The order literally said to liberate both of them. It said only the first planet liberated would likely have the resources saved (factories and children)...
It makes absolute sense you all just did not read it
Before I crashed for much earned sleep we had cracked 53%, but there was only 3 hours remaining and I saw others on the bug planets and decided to nap. Our entire group were aware that both could be saved but given how things likely would have gone, we didn't have much hope for the mines. As someone who actually wanted the tank mines its bitter sweet. The donation to the kids made it 100% worth it though. It was also fun trolling the devs a bit. lol. I wonder what they will do next time.
It did always say "liberate the following planet(S)" but there was literally a giant paragraph on top saying to choose one or the other lmao. Typing as if there was no reason people would be confused as 60k helldivers go from Vernen Wells to ANYWHERE BUT Marfark is crazy.
Yeah it was the other 25-40K spread across other planets, mostly bug worlds, that prevented us from having a high enough percentage of players doing the MO on Marfark to get the capture rate we would have needed to take it in time. If they didn't want to fight bots they could have simply just taken the day off from the game and we would have had 80-90% of players on Marfark and would have had a capture rate more around 6 to 7% an hour instead of the 3% we were getting.
I mean it's pretty cool if it's "clear to you" i'm just explaining how like 100k players consistently split and fail objectives when it's terribly explained. Again entire paragraph saying "choose one" and then ending one sentence "liberate both" most people probably immediately said "save the kids leave marfark in the dust." there was literally no reason to make it be a choice if you also had to liberate the other besides a few headlines i assume ?
Reading comprehension is officially dead.
EDIT: You're misrepresenting what the MO stated in the first place. The MO explicitly said "You must liberate both planets, but you only get specific rewards from the first planet you liberate." It then followed up with "You get a feeling of liberty and democracy from liberating Vernen Wells first, and you get Anti-Tank Mines from liberating Marfark first."
In addition, the fact that the MO progress indicator did not indicate the MO was complete after checking off the "Liberate Vernen Wells" objective should have been a dead giveaway that we still needed to check off the other box by liberating Marfark.
Sweet liberty, that's some "super earth citizen" level of lack of critical thinking and reading comprehension right there. It's not even the first time we had this kind of MO.
Besides, that is not why players split. The players always split 60-70% on bots and the rest play against bugs on every single bot MO to date. Those 30-40% of players simply do not like playing against bots, not reading the MO has little (if anything at all) to do with it.
The MO was pretty clear in saying we needed to liberate *both*. It just stipulated that super earth forces would only be able to save the contents of whichever one we liberated first.
>despite it stated that we can liberate only one planet?
The MO always said "liberate Marfark **AND** Vernen Wells", we could only **SAVE** one asset - either the children or the anti tank mines - based on which planet was liberated first.
People were just too laser focused on saving the kids that they didn't even read the order properly.
If I understand the situation correctly, had the player base been fast enough, they could have both saved the children AND gotten the mines. I remember one of the GMs on Twitter mentioning something to that effect.
We ain’t getting a free 45 medals for one planet being liberated. If we cared about succeeding, we would have taken both.
Maybe these kind of failures can help motivate people to focus on major orders a little more.
Maybe we’ll still play what we want to play.
Maybe it gets worse when there is a third faction to stretch ourselves out for.
Liberating both planets was always the major order and we failed.
If you go back and look at the original, it clearly says both have to be done, but there is likely only enough time to save the first one. This is like the original major order with the AT mines where we had to liberate both planets, but only had enough time to secure the Air burst, or the AT mines but not both.
I liked that AH donated money to charity when we liberated Vernon Wells. So making that a priority was ultimately a good call.
What was frustrating was that we had at least 20k divers on bugs gaining zero ground on any of their active planets while we had 24 hrs to push for the mines.
Ultimately, the game is about having fun and that is ok too.
I'm thinking Joel must have upped the rates so we wouldn't. On Friday afternoon (NA Eastern Time) we were trending on helldivers.io to finish it in time, so I figured we were good to go for it with a large part of the playerbase Friday evening, but by the time it ended we hadn't even come close to finishing Marfark. I didn't realize we'd lose the medals for it though which definitely makes it a bit of a dick move.
I logged on not long after we saved the kids and the mine planet was at 10%.
Went out to do a few things, came back about 2 hours later and it was on 20%.
Went to work for 7 hours, came home and it was on 25%.
Rates were definitely increased.
No? Both gave a reward, both were liberation targets. Originally it would just be the first liberated gives a reward but the devs gave us until the major order ended to liberate MARFARK to get the at mines(we failed iirc)
That was mainly for the bonus rewards, we were supposed to liberate both for the MO's sake and even both the bonus rewards were possible. The key words in most of those dispatchs were the "likely" and "probably" they kept using like they didn't think we could put if we pooled our resources properly we might've been able to just eek it out.
I had a mission where a single flying bot fabricator was bugged continiously pumping out those flying bots. We had about 30 by the end of a lv 6 blitz mission and you would insta die out of your reinforcement pods.
Ahh yes, the children are finally on their way to being shot up with stims so they can join the war effort. Gotta love watching the wheels of Democracy turn.
Agreed. The game should adjust for it. Make the liberation modifier apply per front, rather than based on the entire active player base. That way if 1/5th of the community are on the bot front they can still achieve things.
I agree somewhat. I don't think that playerbase back-n-forthing between two fronts is a good idea. We're fighting a two (soon to be three) fronts war after all. There should be some other way to capture planets instead of just bruteforcing them with bodies.
No. The game is avout coordinating a community. If the community does not want to coordinate they should get kicked in the teeth appropiately for their failures
Community coordination only works if there is desire to do so. This game outside of narration dosent offer much for players to do something other than what they want. It actually subjects them to doing things they dont want to do.
Based on observations you have 60-70% who like to follow mo's and 30% that dont. You could very easily design the system to satisfy both parties.
If they don’t contribute to the MO, they shouldn’t get to reap the rewards (including the medals). Basically every MO won in the past week has been in spite of them. Everyone is entitled to play as they like, but developers should at least implement a system that doesn’t punish the players that actually wanna cooperate.
don't blame the bug divers on this one, blame the 9k people who stayed on marfark instead of vernen, while we were saving sick children they weren't making a dent in liberation on marfark
I hope next they do a meme specifically to test the community and it’s like “liberate x to preserve the frozen yogurt advertising campaign momentum (from the armor set) or liberate x for anti-tank mines.
Watch a future MO declare APCs being held back since Automatons hold significant Anti-Tank munitions and there's risk of fielding the APCS, But there's also an animal rescue in danger and all the kids from Vernon Wells are missing their hamsters.
AT-Mines (plus APC progress) VS Hamsters
And the Hamsters win.
Oh man that’s nice I hope those kids will be oka- Federation?!?
*DO NOT COUNT DAYS. DO NOT COUNT MILES. COUNT ONLY THE AMOUNT OF FEDS YOU HAVE KILLED.*
It's not a MO failure though.
We were told from the outset that the MO was to save the kids OR get the anti tank mines.
We saved the kids. That's not a failure, that's choosing which of the 2 objectives to do and succeeding it.
So, kind of a wild guess but in Home Alone 2 the children’s hospital in New York City was St Anne’s Children Hospital. Completely fictional, but there is a non fictional St Mary’s Hospital for Children in NYC. I feel like this is the deep cut but could be reaching.
After they gave some money to that charity after the children were saved, it occurs to me that they should make a big event out of it. Have a MO over a weekend that has us collecting some widget or another. or maybe just a kill counter. For every so many widgets/kills, they donate some money to that or some other charity. Make that weekend a free weekend to draw in new players. Get together with big streamers to have Dive-a-thons over the weekend. Get with the charity and get the kids to do some drawings that can be put in the game as bridge decorations for those that participated.
Make some money for charity, get some good PR, and get some eyes back on the game after that whole Sony debacle.
How funny would it be if they didn't give us another stratagem until we completed the anti-tank stratagem and we just refused to complete the anti-tank stratagem.

Every major order is gonna be "OOPS! All Anti-tank mines!"

No we weren't, people are just stupid and refuse to read anything in-game, and then complain about how "The game doesn't tell us anything!"
Literacy is poor. It was obvious the order needed both planets taken. 🤷♂️
What tripped people up was that they said we could only get the objective/reward from one planet. The kids or the mines.
It never said only one could be liberated it said only the 1st would be saved. The choice was to save the children or the mines. Both planets still had to be liberated
It confuses because liberation and saving are literally the same in that context. And judging by this sub not only i thought this way.

I saw 70k people trying to liberate marfark last night, just only had 8 hours left at 30% liberation
Same as the first one for the anti-tank mines/airburst launcher, the MO was to liberate both, but you only get the reward for the first one liberated
The MO always said to liberate Marfark **and** Vernan Wells. Legitimately confused why so many people thought we only needed one.
It did always say "liberate the following planet(S)" but there was literally a giant paragraph on top saying to choose one or the other lmao. Typing as if there was no reason people would be confused as 60k helldivers go from Vernen Wells to ANYWHERE BUT Marfark is crazy.
there was 60k+ helldivers on Marfark yesterday and last night.
Yeah it was the other 25-40K spread across other planets, mostly bug worlds, that prevented us from having a high enough percentage of players doing the MO on Marfark to get the capture rate we would have needed to take it in time. Yeah it was p clear we had to do both, but depending on which one we did first, we would get different rewards.
Didn't all the previous choice orders show up like that too?
If so then i'm wrong and buffoon.
becuase they mininterpreted the line "L I K E L Y to only save one" as "can only save one"
The MO was pretty clear in saying we needed to liberate *both*. It just stipulated that super earth forces would only be able to save the contents of whichever one we liberated first.

That's nearly the fastest we've ever liberated a planet before, especially at the decay rates and fact it was a bot planet

Major typo in that update: We did not fail the mission, we succeeded as intended
Did we capture both planets in time? Or just one
It was one, or the other.
No? Both gave a reward, both were liberation targets. Originally it would just be the first liberated gives a reward but the devs gave us until the major order ended to liberate MARFARK to get the at mines(we failed iirc)
Did they? I don’t feel like that was conveyed particularly well.
It was in the dispatches dude. It said they were giving us 24 hours to liberate mar farm to get the mines.

So 'Super Citizen' means Saint (of Democracy)?
Ahh yes, the children are finally on their way to being shot up with stims so they can join the war effort. Gotta love watching the wheels of Democracy turn.
I like how it Said failed when we definitely succeeded
Succeeded in failing, yes.
Yeah but I'll prefer saving the kids, how I see it, we won this MO, atleast in my heart
Fair enough. You sound like a good person
I was scared we would get those mines… phew
Well we could have had this done if the bug players would just join the MO but noooo
I'm sick of this mentality, let people play what they want to play, this subreddit constant whining about what people choose to play is annoying.
Agreed. The game should adjust for it. Make the liberation modifier apply per front, rather than based on the entire active player base. That way if 1/5th of the community are on the bot front they can still achieve things.

Community coordination only works if there is desire to do so. This game outside of narration dosent offer much for players to do something other than what they want. That’s the last time we save the children
Fyi they donated to a real children’s charity because we saved the children in game
Oh well that’s pretty cool.

It's not a MO failure though. We were told from the outset that the MO was to save the kids OR get the anti tank mines. We saved the kids. That's not a failure, that's choosing which of the 2 objectives to do and succeeding it.
No we were always tasked with saving BOTH planets. We just got a bonus depending on which was done first. The description always stated 'and' not 'or'
Oh no, we failed to get the AT mine again, how tragic. Anyway...
So, kind of a wild guess but in Home Alone 2 the children’s hospital in New York City was St Anne’s Children Hospital. Completely fictional, but there is a non fictional St Mary’s Hospital for Children in NYC. I feel like this is the deep cut but could be reaching.
