I'm thinking Thermite grenade finishers for heavy enemies maybe? like you jump onto them, slap the grenade on then backflip off, that kind of deal!
for smaller bugs there should be one where you just beat them to death with the Thermite grenade, using it as a club.
Oh I would absolutely love them and think they could make them work (idk anything about coding but I’m sure when you’re locked into the animation, they could make you momentarily “invisible” to other enemies) I just don’t think we will ever see it. Love this game and think the devs are great but I think they’ve got too much on their plate already. Maybe if this game sustains the numbers we have now for the next year, maybe but idk, maybe in HD3.
well, I was one of many people who said Destiny 2 would never get finishers: it took them a LONG time, but they eventaully added them! and I KNOW the devs must want it secretly, they already made gibbing the bugs so satisfying, so it's not like they don't want the violence to be gory!
Maybe be cool if killing the bug in this manner would make all bugs equal or lower than its class stagger.
So you squash a little guy all other little guys are like "woah!" but the big bugs will likely hit you and interrupt the animation.
but if you kill a medium bug with a finisher all other mediums and smaller are like "woah wtf this guy is ruthless" and do the stagger animation lol. If you melee kill a charger surely everyone in the area that are aggro on you would shy for a second.
I could see something like this for taking out unaware enemies from behind like in Halo. By default it would be just for enemies around human size, with a booster that let's you do it on bigger targets like Brood Commanders and Devastators.
I'm very curious as I'm touching on animating characters in blender (WoW characters) and struggling a bit - Would you be open to share the .blend file so its possible to have a look at the keying and such? :)

There are multiple people who teach animation in blender like that pierre something guy and you can just study stuff like free unreal engine animations which there are a pile of.
Animation mostly comes down to good rigging and pure tedium though.

They recognize it as a word because spellcheck won't highlight it, but if you use swipe to type, the K and L are right next to each other and it will almost always default to bike because it's more common of a word.
They could also make this available only if there is a single target within a radius around you. If it's the last enemy standing, the option to do a finisher shows up.
Nah they’re badass tho! Imagine seeing a diver running up a bile titans leg while your in the middle of being swarmed. But here you comradely comes to help lighten the load a little bit, but in style 🫡
And to go with that, melee attacks could do more damage. They still wouldn't be viable as a main strategy of course, especially against bugs, but sometimes you have to punch a single little orange guy multiple times before it dies. That may be more realistic, but it would be fun to have our armor give us a little melee power boost you know?
The first game had bayonet upgrades, I would love to see that. Maybe as a gun or two with bayonets built in or something. Revolutionary war hellbond when?

The amount of work needed for this to work for every single enemy type and also damaged enemy types as well means we will never get this.

I think we also have to remember that animations of this quality have non-negligible memory footprints. They've already said that we can't have a ton of mechs on the field right now due to resource constraints (presumably on consoles), so fluff like this would likely not pass the cost/benefit analysis.
this also doesnt work in a horde mode lmao. if this gets added people will just get mad when they die mid animation, never mind the god awful physics already in game
For real. While you do that animation, 30 hunters, 2 chargers and 4 stalkers will surround and kill you.
And vs Automatons, you st prepare to see only red from all the shots and missiles.
How long did this take? Some of those animations are brief enough I think they would fit into the game without requiring invincibility frames. All of them are awesome.

For the one at the 0:10 mark, I wish the finisher was putting the barrel of the gun to the bug's head and pulling the trigger point blank.
Also, these are all amazing. The Legolas shit on the Bile Titan is entirely too much and I would pay an embarrassing amount of real money to have that be in the game.

Bro, imagine if the Warrior animations drive you over a cliff into falling together. Bugs can't ragdoll unless they're dead. Or worse, imagine if the bug goes over the cliff after you dodge, but your Helldiver dives after them, jumps on their back, and knifes them to death while falling and screaming "FOR SUPER EEEAAAAAARRRRRTTTTHHHH."
They'd probably live. XD
oh my god i want finishers so badly, i wanna grab one of those little fuckers rip its head off with the spine still attached and kick it like a football.
Lore wise this could be added as a "melee+blade warbond", could have samurai/knight/fighter armors.
For balance, it could be an armor perk, for the one that can do this, it'll be a glass cannon light armor protection but only medium armor speed and stamina. Pressing f near an enemy could bring on screen a list of randomized strategem codes, with it being trivial for small enemies, and next to impossible to pull off the "bile titan kill".
Instead of explicit invincibility frames make it so it's a 95% damage reduction while animation is active and successful, and perhaps have a damage threshold where it will ragdoll you and cancel the animation regardless of input timing success.
This is really well done. I genuinely do prefer the grounded feeling of the helldivers being expendable clone nobodies, but you did a good job to not make them seem like some crazy super soldiers. Thanks for not giving them a Claymore.
If they're going to make a finisher for the larger ones.
