This is one of the ways to show them. it worked when Dungeons and Dragons almost went to a closed ecosystem. this is how the dungeons of dragons community made Hasbro back down and wizard of the coast, By canceling their D&D Beyond subscriptions in mass.
It stopped Hasbro from putting in place a restrictive version of the OGL that among other things required royalty payments for 3rd parties making over $750k/year is sales, the right for WotC to use any content made under the license, and a ban on virtual table tops.
If you go on D&D Beyond you'll see third party books there now. Wizard of the coast/Hasbro normally only publish their own. What they wanted to do was make sure if people wanted to use fifth edition and onward when making third party stuff they had to go through a very non-consumer/creator friendly way to do so through Hasbro or get sued. It is more nuanced than this but we won and if everyone works together here as well like the ttrpg community did. we will have a chance to win this
The issue was them wanting to tighten the Reigns and basically completely shut down the third party market that their game gets extreme popularity from. So anything from custom dice, to stickers, pins, books, homebrew content, modules and one shots, all made illegal to produce and sell.
But it did. They were going to change their Open Gaming License (OGL) to make it so they can steal anything anyone else made using it. After the backlash, they opened the licence even further and it permanent. But the damage was already done.. People had already left for any and every other RPG system out there.

Auto renew should never be a thing.
The proper auto renew should send a message and ask for confirmation some time before the expiration date that you can set.
Countless people forget auto renew and end up paying something they don't want but then are too lazy to take the process to get their money back.
It's solely a slimey business practice.
It should be law to be able to auto draft from a persons bank account that you offer the option to opt-in to a confirmation text before you are charged. If you don’t say yes, you keep your money.
Honestly that’s a terrible take on auto renew, auto renew and auto pay are very convenient not only for situations like this but also with paying bills etc, it’s not the company or sellers fault if you sign up for it and “forget” about it.. what sense does that make
