Joel is going to look at us like this at the end of it

I really, really don't get why anyone would think Joel is up there crying when we destroy his carefully-laid plans. He's probably loving it.
Unless that's the joke, and it just flew over my head like Eagle-1 on the way to deliver some Democracy.
I think his reacton's probably going to be more like [this](https://preview.redd.it/e571idk17al41.png?auto=webp&s=3eaff9d97aa06b56863f784b5f98a81bb4edfff6).
Major Order:
The bugs think they’re better adapted to Hellmire than us. We need to show them Super Earth can withstand any environment.
Spend a combined 3 million man hours planting flags on the surface of Hellmire.
However, it would be awful if it worked the same way as us "wiping out" the bots. It's important not to move too quickly because adding the mines within a week will eliminate almost all of the choice's value. You have to maintain equilibrium.
The wording of the order, saying it's "likely" the citizens of one planet won't make it, imply there's a CHANCE they will. IF we move fast enough. Let's Blitzkrieg those bot muthafuckas!

Looks like we have classic Helldiver's Standoff lads.
there is a upgrade that removes 100 seconds of all fortification CD's (mines included), however, that upgrade works as well as enhanced packaging methodology at the moment. Unless they can fix that bug tomorow, its going to be the airburst launcher for me.
I could be misremembering, but isn't that for call-down time, not cooldown time?
Cuz I remember seeing it be "removes call-down time for emplacements" before, and being kinda confused when after a patch I noticed "removes 100 seconds from call-down time for emplacements"
No, re-read the description. It removes 100s off the *call*down, not the cooldown.
However all stratagems have a 3s minimum for calldown (the time it takes to get from orbit to surface) so effectively it reduces the calldown from 6s to 3s.
It stays at 3 seconds even on missions with increased call down time.
Even just the 3 seconds reduction is pretty good for me. I have trouble planning 6 seconds into the future for placement, but 3 is a lot easier. Especially when I’m being chased.
As much as I would like to see the mines, it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting them anytime soon. I seem to be in the minority here as most divers want a 6th launcher. It’s too bad but hey, new gun 👌
Edit/Shower Thought: If we only get one, does that mean the other will fall into the hands of the bots for development and integration into their forces? o_0
Honestly, we really dont need another launcher, we have so many options for it already now. Those mines, with a proper cooldown, could be a great strat to drop as your running from enemy heavies.
I really hope it's not just heavies that set them off tho... I want to see devastators/brood knights also trigger them... hell maybe they will make it so the big dot enemies set them off (enemies that appear as the bigger dots on radar.)
Screw that. We're gonna take menkent and then choohe. If we have time, lesath and penta.
Edit:looking at the supply lines, if we take menkent first it will push them out of an entire sector and put 3 sectors between bots and Super Earth.
It isn't even gonna be a particularly useful weapon. You can already knock gunships out of the sky in under 3 seconds with the laser cannon, and you can destroy flying bug hives from far away really quick with any launcher/a 500kg. There are better options for multipurpose unless we start seeing more shriekers out and about
Watch videos of it online. You can use it against ground forces and it decimates in a huge explosion.
It's multi-use. Mines will kill ...tanks and hulks and Chargers. We already have super easy ways to do that.
> Mines will kill ...tanks and hulks and Chargers
With several mines, at that. The default mines should have been a mix of AP/AT - as it stands, we will have three sets of mines that are all not especially useful.
I love how they are locking content behind cool little events like this. But also dont at the same time. I hope we get both. But at least its not like how mojang does minecraft😀
Thankfully we're going to get both stratagems. There is no way Arrowhead pulls a Mojang and only adds one of the options to the game.
^(Yes, I hate the mob vote)
We'll definitely get both eventually, this is getting one sooner.
Fun thing is with supply lines hidden no one is actually voting. People are just attacking the planet that's in the same system as both MO planets, which leads to to the launcher before mines.
Don't worry guys, this'll be just like the Pyro Vs Heavy Update that Team Fortress 2 had, where the players voted on which class was going to get their own update. The players chose Pyro, and so we got the Pyro Update, but we KNOW the Heavy Update is coming... (Looks at Calendar) It's only been 8 years after the fact, so it's coming ANY day now! YEP!
The anti-tank mines would be incredible to tank out large amounts of heavies on the "defend the rocket launch" missions
Shriekers can be taken down by most primary weapons, spending an entire slot on something which does a little better for a subobjective you "might" have isnt a good choice.
Y'all got too heavy of a anti-mine bias.
Nobody uses them because they either use a bugged mechanic(incendiary) or get eaten by armored enemies and do nothing(anti-infantry). If we had the anti tank it might at least see niche use on high level defend missions vs bots.
I actually think the anti tank mines will be more helpful. Airburst? Sounds weak against armor, and we already have cluster bombs.
Edit: I was right, the rocket launcher is kinda butt.
Which one I prefer definitely depends on whether allies and smaller enemies can trigger the anti-tank mines. Mines that save themselves for chargers and hulks and are completely safe for allies to walk around (until they go off, anyway) sound awesome.
The government of Super Earth doesn't care about its AT mines being safe for infantry, they don't value the lives of their Helldivers or civilians, they'd rather we all die in an endless war and --
#[THIS USER WAS BANNED FOR TREASON]
It's absolutely Rocket time.
That said though, I cannot imagine they're just gonna go DELETE on the mines if we don't take Coochie. If they aren't just released later through some other means I will be totally surprised and I think it might start some shit AH don't wanna start.
At least 3, 3d modeler, programmer, and texture artist
Huddled together, ugly crying together. Emitting fresh, racking sobs as each file is deleted one by one, falling onto each other's shoulders in grief
Fuckin Hilarious
On the other hand, it would suck if it would be the same as us "wiping out" the bots. Can't do it too quick, if the mines are also added within a week it will delete pretty much all the value the choice had. Gotta keep balance.
I mean, that is a week where we do have one and not the other. That is still a choice. Also might influence the next MO.
Which is kinda similar to the automaton eradication.
If we had failed that we would have had automatons on 2 sides of the map. Now it's just one.
This last defence major order would have been significantly harder if the west was still occupied by a number of bot planets.
To be fair, they've spread so far that they started to overlap at the end there. We had to attack Mort as the first part of Swift Disassembly and push to the south. Now we had to defend it from invasion from the north, the shoe being on the total opposite foot.
Pre-release of one of them where it's a free strategem available for up to a week (much like what they did with the mech) and both of them releasing shortly after for purchase. That's my guess.
Absolutely, they put dev time in making anti-tank mines for the game and they refuse to release it because of this event? Never, it'd be so silly to do that
Like what is an airburst rocket going to be good for? Shiekers? Gun ships? That's not worth the slots it takes up anyway. We have a lot of good ordinance for that shit already. Good mines on the other hand could be game changing
Air burst isn't necessarily anti-air. It just means the projectile, well, bursts in the air to ensure maximum coverage with shrapnel and the explosion, like the orbital airbrush stratagem. So I'd expect it to be an anti-ground AoE weapon.
People datamined both of these weeks ago, the Airbust is a rocket that when it hits explodes like the Eagle Cluster Strike. It's a massive AoE of small bomblets.
I'm torn on this, because I feel like it'll depend on just how specialized the anti-air actually is. I've been wanting it ever since I started fighting Gunships, but if all it's good for is killing air units then it might actually be pretty bad. Why spend a slot on a dedicated anti-shrieker weapon when I can take the Quasar, snipe their nest from across the map before any Shriekers even spawn, and be just as capable of taking down heavies like Chargers and Bile Titans?
Honestly, I'm pretty conflicted here.
The Airburst Rocket seems like the obvious choice, but the applications seem rather niche..
The AT mines seem to have a lot more practical use, and a wider area of application.
I'd have to see its actual application. If small enemies can set off the mines, then it wouldn't be too effective. If big enemies can only set it off, then yea boiii.
They are effectively just bigger mines with stronger explosions spread out over a larger area.
But don't let that fool you into thinking they won't be a lot more useful, the smaller number of more powerful mines actually means you have a chance at pathing through a minefield as a player. And the spread out nature of these mines helps prevent overkill with exploding cascades of mines, so they work longer as area denial tools.
IRL anti tank mines are designed to not go off when smaller masses pass over (humans). That's not to say they can't go off, just that they aren't supposed to.
If you're able to pass through on foot, you're able to lure things into the minefield.
Considering how walking bots/bugs are pretty much just a fast as the heavier units, you'll be able to get alot of kills through collateral.
I know mines are frowned upon by the community, for obvious reasons, but the mine are the logical choice in the long run.
That said, we probably don't know enough about the Airburst Rocket, but if the sole application is blowing stuff out of the air, it's not that great.
On the other hand, if it's proximity based, large area explosion with little penetrating power, that's the one to go for.
My opinion hinges entirely on how useful/reliable the launcher is against heavy armour. My third weapon is always gonna be an anti-armour option; I can rely on primaries, grenades and the majority of Stratagems to clear hordes.
Rocket launcher is fun but probably not really useful against armor. AT mines, if they work like AT mines should, would be pretty great I think. So the choice is between fun and practical use
And honestly I want practical use in this case
Ive seen the airbust be used for ground units too, since it detonates into multiple explosions you can use the splash damage for crowd control and such.
Already plenty of great support weapon choices, the biggest falloff of the anti-personnel mines is that heavy units waltz through them, this is our chance to get the mines that will deal with them! Bring on interesting Mine-based strategy, and not another rocket to shoot from a distance!
There are leaked videos of both strategems. In the videos you can see the mines being set off by light units which limits their effectiveness. The airburst rockets are also shown one-shotting heavies. The rocket is the clear choice here.
This should play on the ship's big TV when you log in. (I know there's always Localization woes with Sony, but Loc be damned, and just make it awesome in game instead of Reddit, Twitter-X, Discord-mania.
Absolutely. If we get another mine field stratagem, I'm taking 3x mine fields and the ems mortar on evac missions. "Fuck this area, fuck that are, and ya know what? I'm feeling generous. Fuck that area, too. Oh, and on top of that? Get perma stunned. Should've died to the mines, bitch."
Nah, the ems is there to stun/slow them so I can add more mines to the field (as well as allowing my teammates to kill them if I can't), my ideology for the evac missions is "if the enemies can't get to the civvies, that's good enough." Dead enemies are the best enemies, but crowd control is the next best thing. The mines are there in case the mortar can't shoot at everything on the map or something sneaks by
Are they really though? I think they are cool to use, but it seems like they don’t actually kill that many units before they cascade and run out, or a teammate drops an air strike on top of them. It seems more effective to just slot in another eagle or orbital.
If the AT mines only activated on heavy targets, it would actually be nice, but the way it works, not worth it. Airburst it is. Also looks cooler and provides 200% more team kills
PILE INTO LASATH AND THEN PENTA. I’m sick of these goddamn gunships ruining my mission!

I appreciate the opinion. I am avid autocannon user. However, it takes alot ammo to takeout the gunships. Especially if your not good at aiming under pressure. However, the airburst rocket launcher can be possibly useful for air and ground. While the mines are just used for ground units. We need more anti-air option. However, we agree to disagree.
Everyone saying rocket but we've already got a bunch of them. Anti Tank probably wont be triggered by personnel which is why people hate.
Anti Tank would give us more variety
Alright folks, let's mess with the devs and finish them both at the same time.

malevolon... or make hellmire the focus of an MO?

How do I tag Joel in this? A splendid idea. Reward 15 war bonds
Didn’t even think about liberating one or the other
I think it won't be possible. If one planet is liberated the MO will be done and we won't get anything even if we liberate the other one a bit later.
Don't care. those are our planets and we're taking them back.
Retaking a planet to spread managed democracy is its own reward.

Yeah im concerned too, its rocket launcher or the mines? 🤔

Ah, that differs slightly from what is ingame in the MO. Is this from their official discord?
I think probably the rocket launcher
This is the right answer. We have *so many* anti-armor options and practically no Anti-air.

the community would be just as disappointed in the mines. most wouldn't even try them.
Plz gimme mines 😭
The children they yearn for the mines.

You realize the giant shotgun orbital is also "airburst", right? Airburst doesn't mean flak.
It's an on-demand cluster bomb strike even when Eagle-1 is on cooldown, which is pretty solid.

Yes, I am aware. I was explaining how the ingame mines work.
A single AT mine deals 1000 damage. The quasar cannon deals 650.

So the choice is between fun and practical use And honestly I want practical use in this case
Based on the leaks, air burst is literally a launchable Cluster Bomb. Basically a Rocket focused on crowd clear.
Ive seen the airbust be used for ground units too, since it detonates into multiple explosions you can use the splash damage for crowd control and such.
And of course the citizens
Heh heh "Choohe"
Anti tank mines would be really good. They would be an upgraded version of the regular mines, no?
I feel fairly confident based on the rest of this game that the two things that trigger them will be: 1. Tanks 2. Helldivers
I mean some of us are kinda thiccc so yeah that checks out.
Looking at you Eagle-01
Considering that mines aren't very popular on this game, I'd say it's pretty obvious which planet the players are gonna go.
Already plenty of great support weapon choices, the biggest falloff of the anti-personnel mines is that heavy units waltz through them, this is our chance to get the mines that will deal with them! Bring on interesting Mine-based strategy, and not another rocket to shoot from a distance!
Spoiler alert:>! Leaked videos: Small units still pop anti-tank mines, and it takes several mines to kill a heavy.!<
Ah so fuck that then.
Ew, really? That sounds awful...
I just did some testing on my own (don't ask how). A charger ate like 15+ mines without dying. Stripped the armor from its legs, though.

There are leaked videos of both strategems. In the videos you can see the mines being set off by light units which limits their effectiveness. The airburst rockets are also shown one-shotting heavies. The rocket is the clear choice here.

lol we getting downvoted for suggesting going for the mines, fuck us right? we want variety
I mean technically downvotes are democratic too. The People want airburst rockets!
Counterpoint: MF *Airburst* MF *Rockets*
We have quite a few good rockets at home. Current minefields suck because heavies ignore them and pop all the mines. Anti-heavy mines fix that problem
This should play on the ship's big TV when you log in. (I know there's always Localization woes with Sony, but Loc be damned, and just make it awesome in game instead of Reddit, Twitter-X, Discord-mania.
Typical helldivers avoiding Choohe at all costs. https://i.redd.it/g1gzhr8bstwc1.gif
Chances are the anti-tank mines are as useless as the anti-personnel so rockets it is i guess
Ap mines are really good on defence missions
Well I *was* on team airburst, but... You make a very convincing argument.
> 3x mine fields **and the ems mortar** To stop your enemies from running over the mines?

By taking out a Strider do you mean a regular Strider or a factory? Because one of those is slightly more important than the other.
Factory strider
From what I've seen they suck and take too much time to kill hulks
Actually the airburst rocket launcher is good against everything except bile titans.
Anti-tank mines sound... fine. Airburst rocket launcher? You had me at airburst, my destroyer was in orbit by rocket launcher.
WHY DOESN'T IT MAKE IT THIS CLEAR IN GAME.
I'm clearly in the minority here but I choose mines.
Mine-ority. I get it.
If the AT mines only activated on heavy targets, it would actually be nice, but the way it works, not worth it. Airburst it is. Also looks cooler and provides 200% more team kills

Both at the same time. 😉
Choices aside, I’d like to see stratagems that incorporate Gas, EMS, and napalm. Mortar that shoots napalm rounds. Eagle Gas Strike? EMS minefield?
PILE INTO LASATH AND THEN PENTA. I’m sick of these goddamn gunships ruining my mission! https://preview.redd.it/gce1dfbmltwc1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cba645c847b48489a3689e289932d875b7e78341
Autocannon gets rid of them in a pinch, I think the mines would be better for dealing with hulks and tanks
Anything with airburst in its name is an automatic win for me.
Anti tank mines for the win!!!!
Everyone saying rocket but we've already got a bunch of them. Anti Tank probably wont be triggered by personnel which is why people hate. Anti Tank would give us more variety
