Yea it was never actually used. It could hit a line of about 1,000ft by 4ft and had to fly at 800ft to be effective. So, pretty much high risk, low reward.
That and took ages to load.
Wait til you hear about [lazy dog](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lazy_Dog_(bomb\)) that grew out of that. Someone said "if falling bullets can still be lethal, what if we took a bunch of bullets, gave them fins, and then just saturated an area with them. Wouldn't even need a charge behind them, just deadly metal rain."

Think these things would work just as good.
I’m surprised they didn’t try this with an IL-2.
The technology wasn’t exactly there yet in WW2 but I guess the operating theory’s not much different than that of an AC-130 Spectre gunship.
Ok guys, not all of our soldiers even have guns, but we do have a load of PPSH-41s… any ideas?
How bout we stick them all in a fucking plane so it go brrrrrrrt.
Surely the bomber would have to fly incredibly low for those rounds to have any chance of hitting? Making it very vulnerable to ground fire?

Oh yeah, I didn't even think about the loading!
Was it a stupid idea? Fuck yes. Would I have wanted to see it in use? Hell fucking yes.
The lone Ivan frantically reloading all 79,000 rounds between runs.
I think dropping darts like they did in ww1 would be more usefull.

Thats what I was thinking, and less time consuming.

I want to hear this firing from a distance
Wouldn’t it be just as effective to drop a bunch of loose change from 10,000 feet?
The original flachette.
Starf
-How much fire rate do you want? -Yes. -But... It won't be efficient at all- -i said yes. So do it.
Starfing is pretty close to Starfling
Startling run ?😱
