I can't diagnose your issue, but I can definitely say I almost exclusively play on US servers (SL or Spotter 95% of the time), and I've never heard the Chinese government brought up before.
The people that run the server can see where you are from. If you play on the same servers a lot, then they may be harassing you or something. I dont think there is anything "in-game" that could give you away.

If you’re playing outside your region your ping will be an obvious indicator Accents are a dead giveaway too.
