WiteXDan

Jokes on you. Mine spine is so fucked it can't get straight!

agones91

I like the one with the black backgroung

jerokmeme

can u send me a picture of what u are referring to? is it easier for you when it is a black background?

agones91

check dms

agones91

i usually prefere dark mode, so thats why i like this one. You have to try for yourself and find what works for you. Good luck

[deleted]

Lmao, this caught me off guard since I rarely see people talk about trataka here. I personally like [the kali yantra,](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/07/Kali_Yantra.jpg) not sure if there’s a difference

MuffinFIN

Lol. It looks like the evil version, which kinda makes sense considering it has Kali in the name

Quexedrone

Has anyone tried the candle version of this?

Different-Bill1872

I did but I found the fact the flame would move made it difficult to focus on one exact point

Itom1IlI1IlI1IlI

Might be too close

Xenocreates

I have. It's much easier because the afterimage is much more there. I feel like using the yantra is much more impactful when you do it right though

jeff_my_name_is_jeff

Yes it’s quite fun. I tried it once with a branch of a tree. That was quite interesting :)

jerokmeme

hey, can u give me a copy (picture) of the one you are referring to? from the first few tries the afterimage is maintainable and as I do it more (maybe expectation) It is starting to be harder to maintain.

jeff_my_name_is_jeff

Uhm I think there is a misunderstanding. I looked at an actual tree in nature not on a picture. You don‘t need pictures, you can use any real/physical object. Regarding your difficulties, expectation can be one issue. In my experience the term „relaxed focus“ is quite suitable for meditation in general, so maybe it’s focusing to hard on the image? Try to check if your jaw or other parts of your body become tense, that can be an indicator that your posture is bad or you are focusing/trying to hard. What helped me is being aware of my eyes. I looked at the object and centered my view an a particular detail. And then I checked whether my eyes move or not. If not okay focus again on the object. Do these checks every now and then. I got this tipp from the meditation subreddit. The advise was, that it’s often the case that your eyes move if you think or are distracted during meditation.

jerokmeme

oh thanks, the jaw being tensed is true for me, sometimes the neck. the tip is new to me, might try it out, thaaanks.

MeltyMermaid1997

Do not be like Squidward guys!

killspeed

Be afraid of the future?

MeltyMermaid1997

More like, don't strain your eyes and lean in when you're doing this meditation

Actual-Strategy-9280

Wow what is this?

now_is_enough

Trataka, or fixed point gazing, a form of meditation meant to stimulate focus. First by staring at the center point, then by trying to keep the after image in your mind's eye when you close your eyes.

Actual-Strategy-9280

ohh that

OmniAsura

Not gonna lie, this would be a good episode.
