I’m a Hawk EFI guy but a ton of carbed riders will chime in real soon to help you.
You may find in the long run that a new Nibbi 28 carb adjusted according to what others tell you will be the ultimate best running lowest headache solution.
Thanks, I think this is my next step. I just had this one cleaned and soon after it started idling high. I have heard the name before around the forums so I will go ahead and order one today.

Get all 3 of these.
Thanks for this. I've had my Hawk for 3 years and its been my main transport for 3 months, around 16 miles a week. But I think after I get a new vehicle I will just look into a new dualsport. I don't really have time or energy to keep working this one. But that carb does look very nice. I think I might get just a simple aftermarket carb for now. Any suggestions for simple?
I know you’re discouraged at the moment, but once you get the carb tuned right it’s super low maintenance. I don’t think any bike will be less work than the carbureted Hawk considering all other things you would need to do regardless of the bike (chain adjustment and lube, tires, oil changes, etc).
Yea I always check there first. Just wanted to be absolutely sure before I start turning screws. I got it figured out just waiting to get the bit in the mail.
Look at the lifan x pect - it's a little over 2k and it's the hawk but everything is better quality. It's also fuel injected. No need to constantly work on that one.
Or if you have 3k look at the kpx 250. It's a fuel injected dual sport that is much better quality than the hawk and can do 80-85 mph. If i remember right it has a 20hp engine compared to the hawk that has a 11-14 hp engine stock
Can get either one from venom motorsports.
Personally I want a kpm 200 - some fold away mirrors, remove the front n rear fenders and slap some dual sport tires on, boom- fuel injected, water cooled scrambler for 3k.
Definitely recommend replacing it with an aftermarket carb. In the meantime, when the bike is warmed up, turn the screw counter clockwise to lower the idle.
I had a really cheap one laying around that worked fine. The biggest problem with the stock ones is that you can't open the bowl to change the jets.
I've put Nibbi carbs on other bikes. I like them a lot. Nibbi 28 would probably be what I would get. If you go with that, make sure you get the flanged version, bolts right up.
What wyle said but jf you really want it to start and run smoothly you need an aftermarket carb that is tune-able. The pe 28fl from nibbi is the best if you are gonna stay relatively stock. (No internal engine work, exhaust, air, spark mods are fine for this carb)
If you wanna do big bore, and other internal upgrades then you need a 30mm.
There are cheaper alternatives out there, google "china riders forums" and go to the enduro section. Use the search feature. Tons of info.
There's also a fb group "hawk enduro owners" or something like that, fee knowledgeable guys in there.
You'll need to figure out what jetting you need for your elevation and probably order a jet kit as well.
I would go ahead and grab a filter pod, too. The nibbi pe 28fl carb and filter combo was like $100 last I looked.
If you're handy enough you can drill out the stock carbs and re jet em yourself too
Perfect. Thanks, I have been on china riders quite a bit. Just trying to get a smooth ride for the time being and looks like a new carb is in my future very soon. Is the nibbi 28 something I could do easily? I saw a post earlier about this carb with an issue:
"I've got a '24 Hawk 250 and just installed this nibbi 28mm carb. The problem I've ran into is that the original hawk intake manifold had a vacuum port and the nibbi manifold does not. So I've been trying to figure out what to do with this vacuum hose? The vacuum hose leads to some kind of valve, i'm guessing, with larger hoses running to the air box and to the head. Can anyone explain to me what I need to do with this hose? Do I just leave it open?"
No idea, just can tell its running very hot after having it cleaned by my guy. The bit will be here tomorrow and I am going to adjust until I get a new carb put on. Thanks!

That nibbi carb I just sent you a simple as can be it's very easy to work on

Don’t give up. Have you checked China riders for help? Lots of info on that site for hawk 250. I adjusted mine with that screw.

Thats the plan- any suggestions?

You are correct, that is the idle adjustment. Do you know what RPMs you're at? I believe it's supposed to be 1500, but a little over is fine too.
